I can't wait for socom 4. That game looks amazing!!! But I'm not a socom vet, so I likenthe cover system and reg health. I feel srry for the vets cause u guys r only getting half of the game. I don't think there is a classic mode option for single player. And the multiplayer will have classic but it's definitely not their primary focus. Srry to the vets but the game does look cool to me( I'm a noob!)

I thought 4/10 is supposed to mean that it's a poor game. You don't explain why it's bad, apart from graphics, no single-player campaign, & lack of innovation. I know that this is the PS3, but come on, graphics aren't that important compared to gameplay, lasting appeal, or story (or at least not in this type of game).
SOCOM Confrontation is excellent. As a community, I think you guys demand too much! If you do not like it, don't mislead others not to like the game as they could like it. With 32 players in a single match, it is fantastic, teamwork to the highest point, especially if you have a in-game clan on your side! I rate it 9/10 as it seems like it is missing it's charm. The game is really unique unlike SOCOM 4 which does not look that good in my eyes.
Compared to the Call of Duty franchise and Battlefield 2 Bad Company...this game does blow. But I bought it today for only 6 bucks and I don't feel entirely ripped off. Peaking around corners is its only good feature. Other than that, I am back to BF2 and Borderlands for all out madness.
This is still a pretty good game im glad i bought. It also had a cold front expansion pack added a few months ago. Its not as good as the originals but its graphics and physics are good. Let me put it this way, If this game had singleplayer and vehicles it would be the best shooter on the market. Thats where Slant Six really fucked up/

I bought this game today and after 3 hours of patching and installing (no exaggeration there) I got to play the game. The overall presentation is mediocre but the controls are solid and I like how the game feels. My primary gripe is not at the game but at the community; loosen up guys! I got booted from the first match for not being good enough. All in all, the game is fun but needs a little work. And the community needs to get there heads out of their arses and accept newbies.

In order to get the most out of socom, you need to communicate, strategize, and work as a team. Hero bullshit won't work unless you're really lucky. It's a great game. I hold it up as one of the best multiplayer shooters I've played.

@wslx0195 well it is socom, its the only game out there that has that intense feeling, a spark that no other game has, unfortunately this game is made by complete amateurs slant six games, countless problems with bugs bugs and more bugs resulting in failure. The basic features of the old socom games are gone such as the first person view the easy to use quick select, theyve added a run button which is not necessary because before you could just push on the analog stick, easy and simple things.

Put and end to scripted AI!! and dont tell me GTA doesnt have scripted AI or any of those sandbox games. there still scripted at far draw distances. and I realize you didnt tell me that... I meant generally people will use sandbox games as a shitty example of free AI "brain trains"
@pimpster122 I'm not sure how draw distances pertain to whether or not an AI is scripted, but alrighty. AI always follows a script of some sort, they can just choose scripts dynamically based on player actions.
The only way to abolish scripting would be to abolish single-player gaming altogether.

I got it for £10, that's a bloody trip to the cinema for this game, it's well worth it, especially with the online community now bigger, updates to it and more maps to buy. So if you reviewed it now, i'd say 4/10 would change to atleast a 6/10.

This game is okay, but it gets really frustrating at times. There are just some things that lack polish and will get in your way almost all the time. Even with the little problems, I still play it all the time. What the reviewer sad about the community is no joke. We are not really noob friendly lol
The game is awesome. For 15 bucks its really a steal in my opinion. If you buy the game my advice to you is learn the ropes before you hop into a ranked match where its no respawn because people will vote you out of the game.
i dont get it socom has amazing graphics, the guns are realistic and fun as hell to shoot, you can custimise your guy, and if your a good player the fire fights are fun as hell
it should have been more like a 7 or 8 out of 10 after the DLC and patches

I love SOCOM, but just not this one. 4/10 is low, but this half baked version was very disappointing. Like the review say it lack substance. It just the depth and engagingness as the SOCOM II on the PS2. I was surprise MW2's 3rd person tactical, which was an after thought, played better than Confrontation. If you like SOCOM, play MW2's 3rd Person tactic when you unlock it when you reach lv 19 online.

I've been a Socom FANATIC since the first release, and all I can say is that Zipper interactive needs to sit down and watch my videos in regards to Socom. Slant Six games isn't even qualified to make a PSP version of this once great title. They have seriously damaged the reputation of Socom indefinately. The good news is, Zipper is indeed working on the true Socom right now...THANK GOD.. PSN SUKMYTURBAN... most Socomers know me...
Grenades/claymores etc... will often cause no damage at all. The run button (unnecessary button) will stick frequently. The vehicles will blow up like a Hydrogen bomb, and you don't even have to shoot the gas tank. Trying to crouch or lay prone to avoid enemy fire is slow or unresponsive. Everything imaginable can and will go wrong from time to time..Even the lobby features are not user friendly or are simply broken. I find it extremely hard to believe that this game made it to the stores.
I like the score you gave it...Absolutely generous in my opinion, but I'll agree. Lets forget about the lack of the 1 plyr mission for a sec. Not a big deal in my book. Its the multiplyr that makes a shooter game great...And the game only resembles the first 2 installments. Its PLAGUED with minor technical issues and often makes me want to set it on fire. The controls are much slower and clunky. Headshots are easy for anybody with fingers and at least one good eyeball.

If you are thinking about buying this game!. Don't do it! Save your money and buy a game that works correctly out of the box and not 6 patches later. This game still is missing key features that were clearly labeled on the box. There are still a lot of bugs, and lag is still an issue. People still are getting kicked from Socom's century old servers in the middle of matches. So if you really care about your rank forget it. Save your money buy something from a credited compony like Infinity Ward

Proffesional reviewers were so harsh on Socom Confrontation. The game is very good. Not fantastic, but definitely a blast and will without a doubt be the bes online game on the PS3 if the issues are fixed. In its current state: 8.8 from me.

@pimpster122 I'm not sure how draw distances pertain to whether or not an AI is scripted, but alrighty. AI always follows a script of some sort, they can just choose scripts dynamically based on player actions.
The only way to abolish scripting would be to abolish single-player gaming altogether.

I got it for £10, that's a bloody trip to the cinema for this game, it's well worth it, especially with the online community now bigger, updates to it and more maps to buy. So if you reviewed it now, i'd say 4/10 would change to atleast a 6/10.
For £10 this game is worthy for any collection...

Yes. For $20 (what most stores charge anyway), I say it's a great buy.
However, make sure you have an internet connection because there is no offline mode.

This game is okay, but it gets really frustrating at times. There are just some things that lack polish and will get in your way almost all the time. Even with the little problems, I still play it all the time. What the reviewer sad about the community is no joke. We are not really noob friendly lol

The game is awesome. For 15 bucks its really a steal in my opinion. If you buy the game my advice to you is learn the ropes before you hop into a ranked match where its no respawn because people will vote you out of the game.

i dont get it socom has amazing graphics, the guns are realistic and fun as hell to shoot, you can custimise your guy, and if your a good player the fire fights are fun as hell
it should have been more like a 7 or 8 out of 10 after the DLC and patches

I love SOCOM, but just not this one. 4/10 is low, but this half baked version was very disappointing. Like the review say it lack substance. It just the depth and engagingness as the SOCOM II on the PS2. I was surprise MW2's 3rd person tactical, which was an after thought, played better than Confrontation. If you like SOCOM, play MW2's 3rd Person tactic when you unlock it when you reach lv 19 online.

I've been a Socom FANATIC since the first release, and all I can say is that Zipper interactive needs to sit down and watch my videos in regards to Socom. Slant Six games isn't even qualified to make a PSP version of this once great title. They have seriously damaged the reputation of Socom indefinately. The good news is, Zipper is indeed working on the true Socom right now...THANK GOD.. PSN SUKMYTURBAN... most Socomers know me...

Grenades/claymores etc... will often cause no damage at all. The run button (unnecessary button) will stick frequently. The vehicles will blow up like a Hydrogen bomb, and you don't even have to shoot the gas tank. Trying to crouch or lay prone to avoid enemy fire is slow or unresponsive. Everything imaginable can and will go wrong from time to time..Even the lobby features are not user friendly or are simply broken. I find it extremely hard to believe that this game made it to the stores.

I like the score you gave it...Absolutely generous in my opinion, but I'll agree. Lets forget about the lack of the 1 plyr mission for a sec. Not a big deal in my book. Its the multiplyr that makes a shooter game great...And the game only resembles the first 2 installments. Its PLAGUED with minor technical issues and often makes me want to set it on fire. The controls are much slower and clunky. Headshots are easy for anybody with fingers and at least one good eyeball.

Np man. I just don't want people to be as disappointed as I am. I have played since Socom 2. So i know what Socom should be and this isn't it. MAG isn't a 3rd person shooter so i am not a big fan of it, but zipper is a respectable company that has already pushed back the release date of there game to work on it some more. So i know i will give them a shot. Assassins Creed i already have pre paid for its gonna be the shiznit. I want a New UFC!

If you are thinking about buying this game!. Don't do it! Save your money and buy a game that works correctly out of the box and not 6 patches later. This game still is missing key features that were clearly labeled on the box. There are still a lot of bugs, and lag is still an issue. People still are getting kicked from Socom's century old servers in the middle of matches. So if you really care about your rank forget it. Save your money buy something from a credited compony like Infinity Ward

This guy was a little harsh on this review, This game deserves more along a 7/10 to an 8/10. All he was complaining about was that there was no Single player. Which seem to but rape him hard enough to give this a bad score. When in reality it is a fun game, but its not everyone's game. For all you xbox noobs its not gears and its not halo. It is a good game. This guy was just crying the whole time because "NO SINGLE PLAYER"

Proffesional reviewers were so harsh on Socom Confrontation. The game is very good. Not fantastic, but definitely a blast and will without a doubt be the bes online game on the PS3 if the issues are fixed. In its current state: 8.8 from me.
