  • This song made my day.

  • animation reminds me of "The Pot" by Tool.

  • Vevo I must thank you, for you see, I used to be mildly annoyed with your commercializing of video sharing, but my view today changed everything. While I came to YouTube in search of something new, I never would have dreamed I would stumble upon such a giddy delight as I found in listening to "This Little Girl" by Cady Groves. Sure I was surfing through metal/hard rock videos, but you just knew that somewhere deep inside of me I longed to ogle at an exploited, self-venerating musical travesty.

  • Video endorsed by Zach Galifianakis.

  • I didn't come here to see a stupid fucking commercial... I came here to listen to fair to midland. Fuck you commercials *angry face*

  • Love you guys!!

  • As soon as I started listening to this I knew I've heard it before but couldn't place it, now I remember it was on the radio for like a week a few years ago

  • just happen upon this band and think they should be more popular than most out there. the music is great and the singing is the shit so many combos of many other bands as you listen you here sounds from the 80's 90's and now. they are like looking through the looking glass a collideascope of sounds.

  • How does this only have 500k views?

  • @CrixNik I think its because only 500k people have seen it

  • Ah yes, my very first song of Fair to Midland. LOVE THIS BAND!

  • I was halfway through typing "Dance of the Manwhore" and then i clicked on "Dance of the Manatee" for a joke. But... i love this song!! I've found my new favorite artist!

  • Anyone remember this song on 1053 the buzz?

  • i think this is more a perfect circle and ashes divide than tool

  • this is a really well put togeter song, i might do a cover

  • @0nelastheartbeat no one cares

  • I really don't see any simularities between ftm and tool.....

Completely different kind of music and video clips. video clip of tool's the pot isn't official

  • Dance of the Manwhore

  • I've been playing alice madness returns alot lately, and this video reminds me of it:D

  • Apparently any video that does not feature the band playing in a warehouse nowadays is considered "Toolish".

  • what the fucks going on in this video?

  • Reminds me of tool

  • t0olishhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh melody

  • C'mon there is not a million veiws YET for this epic song?

  • T0OLISHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • @eddietools You are aware that the video for the Pot isn't the official video right? And the music is entirely different. :|

  • This song, the album this song is from, are masterpieces. Best musical experience I've had in ages. I discovered this band only a few days ago and I don't remember ever getting addicted so fast to any other artist, except perhaps when I first listened to Queen as little teenager. Such a fresh, beautiful sound. Count me in as a FTM fan already :D

  • @JuhhFalaschi thats funny, i just started listening to thing, i like this shit already...haahha sweet. try some Between The Buried And Me...type in " BTBAM best solos"

  • Been a while since I've listened to this. Reminds me of The Minish Cap for some reason.

  • Heh, I saw them last night...Wow...what an experience!!! :)

  • gotta love this video

  • Thank you Dead Letter Circus.

Thank you for this discovery.. <3

  • this is my fav song by them so far i still got to listin to the rest of them tho

  • Why does everyone hate on the video?

What would you idiots prefer? Another music video in a parking lot with a bunch of idiots getting drunk, and wearing too much jewelery, complete with some skanks shaking their asses?

I think this video and the song create an interesting dichotomy, in a peculiar way.

  • Glad to be one of the less than 500,000 who appreciate this band and Video. Goes to show that success or talent is not necessarily based upon popularity or views.

  • what does the video mean?? i know what the whole song means, just not the video.. D:

  • @dannymuffin2242 YOU KNOW WHAT THE WHOLE SONG MEANS?!?! WHAT!?!? Message me?

  • FOR FANS OF FTM! check out facebook .com /nuhavenband :D

no spam, just need some support

  • Ive seen DLC in their hometown in Brisbane and would kill to see them with FTM in the same concert!!

  • Not needy you see, not needy and I come with open arms over trees

  • Minecraft at 1:13!

  • @PixelHex I love minecraft forever and this song too

  • "Their heads cast shadows like skyscrapers, still small enough to fit up their asses!"

  • I'm seeing them tomorrow, can't wait.

  • The video is very Tool-esque.

  • i fucking hate the way this video is drawn :P but dear lord i love this band. Found them like 3 days ago, and some of their songs have already become some of my favorites :P

  • yep

  • I heard this on the pandora app. Brilliant music, just great. The video is the most distracting piece of artwork I have ever seen. It's cool, but also a bit lame. They could have just played the music with a logo on this video and let the music create the world. Old school style.

  • YES. THEY HAVE A MOTHERFUCKING VEVO. FINALLY!!!

  • I really love the music, but am I the only one who gets annoyed by the singer's voice, especially in the verses?

  • @zwaardwalvisje yes.

  • @blondeguy32 Thanks for your very quick investigation.

  • @zwaardwalvisje anytime.

  • @zwaardwalvisje Dude his voice is the best part

  • @Rocko1290 Well yeah I do notice a lot of people think it's exactly what makes them special, but for some reason I can't get used to it. It's like there is too much vibrato in his voice or something. But as I said, the music is great, would love to seem them live one day. Oh and btw, I'm not a dude ;)

  • Doing the US tour with Dead Letter Circus. Would recommend seeing DLC.

  • obsessed with this song.

  • I love how there's a sense of emotion in the heavier sections of his vocals. A majority of bands today don't know how to implement that style.

  • I'm addicted to this song.

  • Awesome video, with a good meaning behind it! Also, Dance of the Manatee ftw~! :D

  • they are from my home town!!!

  • Brandon from Incubus @ 3:04.

  • They are awesome, fuck off pussies!

  • I wish FTM would release a sound with an arabic/egyptian feel. I'd love to hear Darroh's voice soar over some ambient haunting rhythms....anyone else think so?

  • What is Howling Dollhouse?

  • they kinda remind me of tool

  • @MrShortnugget

    Fail. Tool fails.

  • @DefineDeath090 Tool fails? Well to each his own I suppose.

  • @InsideAVitalSuit

I just find them very bland personally. The guitar doesn't do anything for me either. :/

  • @DefineDeath090 How about Rishloo, Dead Letter Circus or Karnivool?

  • @DefineDeath090 ಠ_ಠ Blasphemy.

  • @B1scotti

i've heard the song is about these women "marys" speaking out against an abusive man "the deeper voiced parts"

you have to hear many different versions and older versions to understand it better i guess, and the live intro to this song has people talking and somebody saying "and with brute force he will take whats his"

idk if any of this is helpful to ya

  • "when its coming cats and dogs for days" - Epic vocal sound... Win.

  • Part 3: He carries the few people who seek his help to safety.

Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I understood. Read the lyrics though. It might help.

Maybe the giant is a guy with a big heart who helps the people (the rare person of society who is the "doormat") and they walk all over him. He finally snaps because he's had enough. He did so much for them and they never cared. The three people he carries off in the end are the few who actually appreciated him. so he helps them.

  • @B1scotti That's what I got for a literal meaning of the video. Pretty straight forward if there isn't any deeper meaning to it.

  • Comment removed

  • Part 2: Time passes and they begin to advance. Then one goes crazy (maybe he symbolizes war and destruction?) and torches the whole village and the other ones revolt (their actions destroyed the fertile land so maybe that's why they're upset?). Meanwhile, the giant becomes weary from being stuck and lashes out. He finally frees himself but falls over, causing a huge earthquake that levels the cliff and cracks the land open, causing a huge flow of water. This water fertilizes the whole land.

  • Okay, I kinda understand the video now

PART1: The people of this little colony are trying to grow something to build houses and stuff, but they are having a drought. They pray and plants seeds, but their crops die instantly. Along comes this giant who is just doing his own thing. He comes up to the cliff and gets stuck in quicksand. These people, knowing the land beyond that cliff is fertile, use the giant as a ladder system.

  • I'm seeing Evanescence + The Pretty Reckless + Fair to Midland ---> 5th November! cant wait! :D x

  • I'm ok with these guys not becoming big becuase then i woud have to deal with people overplaying them. Plus doesn't fame get to bands some times? I wouldnt change a thing about ftm, their Originality makes them who they are.

  • Thats right Gavin Degraw under Fair To Midland all day!

  • I love this song, but the music video just makes me laugh. It's fun, weird, and interesting.

  • @B1scotti I still don't know what's going on in the video, except that the artwork looks really freakin' cool.

  • @Kerfuffleinahussle Agreed :)

  • First learnt about them years ago when Serj took them under his label. They don't need any other label, in my opinion.

  • 24 people haven't met a manatee

  • @thatdudeud0ntknow They're smart enough to not do that. They'd get fucked by a label man, this is common music knowledge. Originality would go straight out the door

  • Wow this song is pretty cool !! Never heard of this band before !

  • woot!

  • I need to marry Darroh

  • 23 people aren't from Dallas and didn't see this band play live. :( So sad for them. So really sad. This song was better (a) live at Curtain club and (b) before the remake.

  • amazing song but weird vid

  • This song reminds me of some VERY good times with some old friends... Love it.

  • Just saw these guys a few days ago......... they blew the damned things away..

  • Hipster metal at its finest.

  • @SwargoL hahaha this shit is hilarious. just click on 2:15

  • Read the gospel of thomas. open your eyes to what has been hidden from you, however cleverly right in front of your eyes. the info is there. this is the time of the great revealing, and the time has been here, and it is switching gears. i love all. good, bad, everything plays a role. try to do the 'crazy voice thing' he does live on the bridge, add infinitum. it's the sacred syllable. take this shit and run with it all the way to valhalla. peace and blessed and blissed be.

  • 'we marys had ourselves a ball'

"When you make the male like the female, and the female like the male, then you will enter the kingdom." Take enough psychadelics, explore your emotions and your dichotomy becomes a unity, and you shine out your eyes. you know stuff. you know yourself. it's the true path to the divine.

  • i think i know what it's about but time will tell better than I can. art is magic.

  • It's hard to believe Darroh does all of the vocals. He has such a versatile voice, it's insanely amazing.

  • can some explain that happend in this video?

theres a gaint then a crack then a flood and other stuff,

    im confused

  • This song has the most plays on my itunes playlist by probably 100 lol

  • @thatdudeud0ntknow ever heard of the band the butterfly effect check em out they are like these guys

  • video's from VEVO take forever to load. and its ONLY from VEVO! fuck this shit!

  • Like if your seeing these guys with Evanescence in November!

  • @noirculture i am seeing them at Apollo Hammersmith in london ,, cant wait!! :D

  • @noirculture saw them a month ago with illegal smile, undisclosed, and Anno Domine. simply amazing

  • Im soooo happy i get to see the this tuesday!!! im sooo pumped again!!!! :D

    FTM FOREVER!!!:)

  • I only listened to Fair To Midland cos they're supporting Evanescence with The Pretty Reckless in November (and im going - eeek!) but i actually rather like them - goood!

  • Wow, for once the suggestions bar has songs i like in it.

  • The mosh pit for this song is usually pretty intense.

  • this singer has got some pipes!!! so versatile

  • this song makes no sense but its good

  • I can't understand a word they are saying but god damn it sounds awesome

  • This is a more refined version than I first heard, it's good, but I like the more raw version better.

  • I bet they sound great live. Studio quality is um...lifeless...may be a streaming issue though. I'd like to hear a full sounding mix

  • asdasdasdasdasddsaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • What the hell am I listening too @_@

  • zak galafanakis is angry

  • SO why couldnt they build a ladder before the giant came? What the hell.

  • I get the video.

  • I am guessing spin off of Norse mythology

  • What is a marys? and WHAT? I dont understand.

  • @sexylexiebaby a marry is a whore... google is your friend

  • @BDean97 lol, yes, yes it is.

  • I only searched these guys because they're gonna tour with Evanescence.

I am SO glad I did omfg they are amazing.

  • @Katherine10101 They are best known for live shows, you gotta catch one if you can. The new album Arrows and Anchors is awesome!

  • reminds me of tool

  • @JustWannaFeelGood kinda reminds me of the tool video The Pot. Different sound though.

  • @BigEthan391 except this was released before the pot came out -____- so the pot reminds you of dance of the manatee

  • I saw them play this song live last night in Portland; this sounds weak in comparison to what I heard. My roommate was right to say they sound better live.

  • @drummerboy1692 this video is compressed...something must've gone wrong during upload

  • My friend told me to look this song up. This has to be the most unique rock sound I've heard. It's like a cross between a bunch of different singers and guitars and epicness. PS the art is amazing

  • Thinking harsh vocals dumb down music is completely ridiculous. Also, thinking anybody can do them is as stupid as can be.

Harsh vocals have their place in heavy music, and when they're done right, they're amazing.

  • Don't judge a band by just one song. Try listening to the new album Arrows and Anchors. But maybe intelligent music just isn't your thing "Optimus Pride". Really original name coming from someone that makes sesame street references. Stick to your transformers cartoons and bullshit movies. Transformers suck!!! LOL

  • his voice<3333 i swear i could fall in love with it. its absolutely amazing. and so is this song.

  • Just saw these guys live a few nights ago. The lead singer is a monster! He made himself puke on stage! It was quite an intense show!

  • Its weird people talking about the "metal" part of this song. What metal part? People throw that word around to much.

  • I <3 this song! :3

  • Get that all time low emo bullshit out of here.

  • @OptimusHide well thats your opinion though, personally the song would not have the same effect to me. and at least its not constant cookie monster metal like Cannibal Corpse, so no, cookie monster metal is not tolerable to me. it was for a brief amount of time in this song, so it didnt ruin it for me.

  • OptimusHide without that part the song wouldnt be as good.

  • @peanutbuttercrunc100

I'm guessing things like cookie monster metal are tolerable to you? I find his grumbling really annoying... why couldn't he have just sang that part why did it have to be like crazy cookie monster grumbling? Seriously... why? You think that makes the song good, where as I think it took a great song and brought it down to a cheap level.

  • Comment removed

  • @OptimusHide

Hey hey, enough of this bias against metal. If you don't like it, then please just listen to something that doesn't have any metal. No need for anybody to argue about anything, here.

  • @elementual

I never said anything against "metal", REAL metal is great... cookie monster metal is just ridiculous. It's just my opinion that when the singer starts going into cookie monster mode it destroys the tune... it doesn't make it badass, no quite the opposite.

  • @OptimusHide first of all, more than half of what you categorize as "real metal" uses guttteral or distorted vocals. Does it make it "cooler" or more badass? No, it just makes it different as how using distorted guitars makes metal different from classical guitar. If you honestly think that bands like Opeth or Obscura are dumbed down because they use gutteral vocals, you need help.

  • @igotwoodhaha

You could also change "dumbed down" with idiotic. It sounds like they are low IQ'd morons. I'm sorry but cookie monster metal does not make you bad ass, it is like poor man's metal... it is the bottom of the barrel scum. If these bands threw their "singer" to the curb and got someone else who wasn't a descendant of the cookie monster they may actually turn out something worthy! Opeth is awful.. listened to them and knew right away I never would again!

  • @OptimusHide I'm not going to defend this band. I personally don't really like the style. I will say, though, that people who argue online about music they don't like sound like FUCKING IDIOTS when they just bash everything. It's all a matter of taste. I like both "real" metal and most of the much heavier derivatives, and there's talent to be found everywhere. Try not to sound like a complete joke when you talk about something and maybe people will attempt to consider your opinion.

  • @acerbicsleight

I'm sure there is talent to be found everywhere, and a lot of these bands have good musicians it's when they hire a guy who can only grumble into the microphone that makes it stupid and idiotic. I can go anywhere and find someone who can grumble as good as these guys can... there is no talent involved in this form of expression and it dumbs down the music. Why have a band with talent only to ruin it with an emo angry dufus who sounds like the cookie monster?

  • @OptimusHide did you really just say Poor mans metal? who the fuck are you? i've wiped my ass with more intelligent things than you

  • @SuperCrappyVideos

u mad?? ha ha.... indeed poor man's metal, or let's just call it unintelligent garbage for weak minds!

  • @OptimusHide i don't really care that you don't like it. im really the biggest fan of this band anyway. its just that you say "poor man's metal" like you think you're somehow better than people who listen to this type of music. which is absolutely ridiculous to suggest. if you wanted to think you were "stronger minded" for not listening to a genre of music go with pop since that shit is advertised by a corporate machine.

  • @SuperCrappyVideos

I had good things to say about THIS band if you read that at all. I put "pop" on the same level as "cookie monster metal" like Opeth... both ridiculous and annoying. You like it because when you listen to these hacks scream and grumble into the microphone that somehow makes you bad ass when in fact it's just you showcasing to the world that you enjoy weak simple minded music. Congrats... people know you listen to crap!

  • @OptimusHide ok first off i don't even like this band, i just don't like you. and secondly i don't listen to harsh vocals because it makes me feel "badass" i listen to harsh vocals because when they're done right they can sound really cool and enhance the music behind it.

  • @SuperCrappyVideos

I like you! I've never found the enhancement of the music based on cookie monster grumbling, nor has it sounded "cool"... no... instead it just comes off as a very dense, dopey and unintelligent form of expression.

  • @OptimusHide opeth cookie monster metal??? -____- they have acoustic shit lmao....

  • @BDean97

They may have acoustic shit in some of it, but the singer is still a douchebag cookie monster.. so what are you trying to say he's not? haha..

  • @OptimusHide different strokes for different folks I dig some of their stuff.

  • @makechangekillurself this band is so freaking amazing live. you can't even comprehend what your up against. the range of vocals on this cat is absolutely nuts, the lyrics are deeply twisted, and there's a frenzy to the performance that i haven't seen since last shadows fall tour.

    you eat cookie monster's crumbs.

  • @xanderarena ?? I said I like the band

  • @xanderarena I’ve heard that too. My bf saw them right before they got signed, at a club in Tulsa and he said it’s one of the top three performances he’s ever seen, and he’s seen way over 2000 shows. He was totally blown away. I’ve missed out on chances to see them but I really want to.

  • @BDean97 I happen to like all the acoustic shit so keep your shit to yourself. Thank You! thumbs up if you agree
