  • This was taken off the 1984 tour. The last one with Roth. A lot of new stuff was tried on this tour: Ed playing keyboards, the original Frankenstrat was replaced with the Kramer Baretta's, Alex had a hybrid drum kit consisting of Ludwig and Simmons drums. The stage was huge: 70,000 watt PA, 2,000 lights, etc. etc. This was end of the old Van Halen, and a glimpse of the upcoming Van Halen. Great show, i miss those times.

  • Nice dude, heard they rarely performed this

  • @tmcc420 Yeah, a rarity and a sweet treat in the later years, but was played some in their early years.

Someone has a concert of them from '76 at I believe their Cali HS, (very raw) & at the end the taper claims that 2 songs were sent to Gene Simmons as a demo tape. Running with the Devil right into House of Pain.

I was only 14 when 1984 came out, so I only knew Unchained, Mean Streets, and a few others at the time, but to the die hards, House of Pain put on vinyl Rocks! Def 1 of their best.

  • The "outro riff" if probably one of the best jams Van Halen has ever done!!!

I saw this tour twice. Once in Portland Oregon and then in Kansas City...on my senior "Road Trip" in my 68' Volkswagon Bug!

  • Dave usually does a half ass live show but this is pretty tight

  • They are playing this SO damn fast!!!! It's awesome!!!! Lmao!!

  • @ 0:16 Dave almost pulled a steven tyler there. Cool video though. Looks like the 1984 tour (the stage and clothes give it away). Van Halen in their prime!!!!!

  • awesome song wish the sound was clearer like on the album, alex is really going nuts with that synth bass drum. if you want to hear one of our bands songs click on the blue word to the left

  • This is the REAL Van Halen!!!!!

  • rainbow collin what the hell would you kinow abou the 80's generation? Your just a god dam kid of a whooping 17 yrs old, who doesn't know shit about anything. Your generation is the worst of all time, the y generation, that blames everything on everyone else and ever takes responsibility for anything. You can't even relate to 80's music, your generation is infested with the disease music called rap and hip hop which is completely fucking pathetic and takes no talent at all.

  • dave is and always will be the king

  • Look at all the people here tonight!

  • coke is great

  • I love the breakdown jam at 2:15!!! Wish i was there!

  • Yes, that spot makes the song. I was very lucky to have seen them in Phoenix in 1984 as a 12 year old. Snuck out for it! The cops raided the upper tier of the arena, as I recall (not here, but at the Phoenix show).

  • They were usually drunk and Dave rarely finished a song. His voice was starting to go. Lots of tension in between Dave and the rest of the band too.

  • Tensions make SPACTACULAR MUSIC!!!! Ego's and outside influences separates bands. Van Halen unfortunately didn't handle that well enough. But who cares they've made their mark and forever will be remembered!!!

  • Drunk or not, Dave's putting on a great show.

  • man! i wish i could have

    seen the 1984 tour!

  • dude i wish i were alive to see van halen in those crazy times, now i'm 16 in this fucking emo years =P
