  • doesnt make him better now does it

  • as far as playing the faceless, i think so

  • Nick pearce man. AMAZING drummer. The only person who can play akeldama. that shit is fucking hard. The drummer that taught me so much (Y)

  • umm, faceless opens with akelama. lille plays it extremely well, probably tighter than on the cd.

  • you are the reason i got into drums!!!

  • I love the way he holds his sticks. unseen in metal since steve flynn

  • its better to hold them like that

  • Well I guess you must have a better wrist move with it when it comes to blasting. As for other techniques, I believe you, i'm not a drummer, so... ^^

  • jason costa too

  • Wow. dude you are fucking sick. cheers!!!

  • mmm <3 hes amazing.

  • good....but BORING!....yes, i know it is a faceless tune...

  • nick pierce is fuckin sick.

if u like his dumming check out his new band Eterna Nocturna

i just saw him play last saturday when his ne band played with the faceless on the first stop on the planetary depravity tour

  • This is sick

  • Man Nick Pierce is one of my favorite best drummers and rapes the hell out of the kit, with TRADITIONAL STICKING, very hard to do when playing blast beats.

  • no, it's not.

  • He totaly raped that drumkit :o

  • amazingly kick ass. marching right along.

  • You were always my favorite faceless drummer out of??? like the 12 they've had lol

  • true that.

  • he plays so perfect like every thing is so planned out in each movement that it doesn't even take thought.

  • this may sounds silly buy his warmup is faster than this.

  • thats because his warmup video is 3 years newer than this is....

  • thats sick.

  • haha traditional holding drum stick. the parts at 1:30 sound so sick

  • i think my headphones broke

  • he blasts weird lol

  • it's just because he plays traditional.

    which is mind-blowing

  • Love the Zil-Bel

  • You should guys should check out his new band: Eterna Nocturna. They're pretty sick. I've played with them before in Seattle.

  • nick is in it

  • Was that a question or a statement?

If it's a question, the answer is yes.

  • ehmazingg drummer

  • its not often u see a metal drummer holding his stick traditional style

  • well lots of metal drummers are jazz trained.

  • yea i kno. ive been jazz trained taking lessons from a jazz drummer also, but ive still never seen before in a metal drummer. its just wierd to me cuz ive never seen it. im not saying its bad

  • ya the dude from all that remains does it too

  • well, the guy formerly in all remains, he joined BDM before they released nocturnal

  • costa? or was it shannon lucas?

  • shannon lucas

  • costa plays with traditional grip lucas doesnt

  • incorrect

  • that was just an almost...

but still Nick Pierce is a great drummer...

  • HOLY ASS FUCK of CHRIST!

  • anyone else see the miss on his right hand at 1:30? dont blame you for missing that thought thats one hell of a song to play congrats on only 1 miss ide be on like 40 misses.

  • Ha, I never noticed that, and I've seen this video like 15 times. Good catch.

  • lmfao yea i see

    it just went...."clank" xD

amazing drummer though....i deff couldnt do that..im not bashing him..i cant play drums worth shit xD

  • I know this was posted 2 years ago but did you get the job lol, i know dumb question to ask after 2 years but just asking?

  • he did he also recorded the song akeldama with them on their record

  • no, he didn't; Lyle Cooper got the job for the new record.

  • sorry I meant that he got the job for akeldama the song and went and played a few shows after this video, he obviously didn't play on the new record lyle has a different playing style. but you're right

  • woooooow so coooool

  • Umm That Grip is how he has so much Power go watch the Niel peart video and Learn something...This Guy is amazing Nice chops brother

  • the grip isn't used for power and peart doesn't do it for that reason, its called traditional and a lot of people just learned that way, the both grips have perks, but when it comes to power it is just the drummer

  • An Autopsy My favorite song by The faceless

  • cool.. you can have tha much power with that grip. O_o... keep it up man!

  • great job

  • fuckin damn good!!!

  • faceless is bad ass.. AND SO ARE U!

  • so much power even with the traditional grip awesome

  • frickin amazing

  • wow, i'm extremely amazed.

    sick

  • i love how you play as good as you do and you use the traditional style 5/5 amazing

  • HOLY SHIT DOOD! That was sweet! 5/5

  • best cover of this song on youtbe, you're sick, and you use non-matching grip, lol, you're left is traditional grip and you do blast beats that way?lol cool.

  • dude he used to the their drummer he better be good

  • yeah. and he played on one song on the album.

  • Intense!

  • phenominal!

  • SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET DRUMMING!"!""" AH!" listen to this!!! MAGNIFICENT!!!

  • an autopsy ftw!

  • I know that if I was to try this hard, my arms would feel like Jell-o afterwards, this is amazing drumming skills. very impressive.

  • what is mind-boggling is how unphased he looks...I'd be DYING physically is I even attempted that run!

  • o_O DAMN.. he isn't human. extremely talented, great job. so is he officially the new drummer of the Faceless? oh, will someone tell me if Braindrill is officially broken up now?

  • he was the drummer for them last summer on their tour and on one of the cd tracks.

  • ahhh, ok. kool

  • Yeah Brain Drill went to shit man, i don't know if they are sorting things out but i doubt they will after what happened, check their Myspace for more stuff.

  • maybe its the camera you gay shit

  • WHY DOES IT SOUND LIKE S#!t

  • i'm not a drummer, so i cant tell,

is he using two foot pedals or one and a double bass pedal?

for a while i have been under the impression that some drummers can use two single pedals just as well as people who use one with two kicks on it.

    pardon my ignorance.

  • yea he uses two base pedals.

saw him live play for the faceless, ridiculous.

  • mb i dont get u but actually there is no diffrence between a double bass pedal and to single pedals ..if u got two bassdrums.

  • there really isnt a difference, mate. You either have two kick drums with two single pedals....or you have one kick drum with a double pedal. The only difference is that the two pedals will never feel the same cos of the connecting rod between the two...one has less rebound cos of the laws of physics. Hope that helps.

  • iain paice ftw kbai

  • INSANE! I think thats the first time I've ever seen a jazz snare grip for metal! Awesome!

  • the new guy for all that remains uses the traditional grip also.

  • That's not "jazz snare grip." It's called traditional grip, not always for snare, and most definitely not limited to jazz. Many of the best drummers play american matched grip or french matched. Traditional grip was only invented because of the way army musicians carried their snare. Not because of jazz or anything else because traditional grip was around long before the first jazz song was played. 1 point for me, 0 for you.

  • for once sum1 who knows what they're talling about...you get another point

  • just because phill collins doesnt play metal doesnt mean he sucks he just have a different style of music hell im sure there alot of blue or jazz drummers that say chris adler suck but that doesnt make it true

  • no blues and jazz guys are probably respectful enough to not have to rip on other drummers just because they aren't their style.

  • I've seen it happen, though, unfortunately. There are some great drummer's who just can't comprehend another style as being filled with talent. Sad day in Drummerdom, but I'll continue to be open-minded as possible. Jazz, metal, hip-hop, it's all amazing to me.

  • you suck balls

    jk

  • shannon lucas got picked over this guy for the black dahlia murder?

Maybe they liked shannons style better?

  • I am not comparing, they are both sick! I have seen Shannon play live and it was incredible. One might not think that, coming from ATR, but he absolutely slays the kit. In my top 10 best live grinding performers, fo sho... Ian

  • Yeah Shannon is a beast.

And nick is very talented and fun to watch.

See this is why death metal is amazing there are so many different styles with in it.

  • Sick :) Drummer that can go with Brutality is the shit:) i liked when you were playing for faceless

  • haha, he fucks up! 1.29 he hits rim and it looks like they cut to a second take. wow dont know how i caught that in the middle of such a good run...we all mess up i guess. even nick pierce! love this vid. great song.

  • Ha! You are correct!

  • Have nick pierce a myspace site?

  • this is a reply to ryan, he does straight 32nds and 16ths single stroking, but i can do them heel-toe on my left and right foot like; RRLLRRLLRRLLRRLL. Its just easier for me

  • Nick Pierce is the fucking shit!!!

  • dude, how do these guys play double bass so fast? any tips? i can only go 180 bpm, and then i get sloppy

  • hmm what kind of pedals do you use? How are they tensioned? Also adjust your seat until you find the 'sweet' spot for your legs. I can't play 250+ double bass if my seats too high or low!

  • he uses axis al-2 longboards

  • I was talking to ryan10101

  • Practice low speeds untill you handle them then go upp in bpm.. use metronome and practice every day!

  • hahahahahaha... are u stupid? he was the drummer for that band...

  • i replyed on ryan.. nick pierce is the best :P

  • Check out Quo Vadis's Yanic Berceir... I dont know whos better... they both around the same speed but Yanic's stuff is a little more Odd timing... i dont know

  • lol blastbeats with traditional grip!^^ respect man, keep it up!!!

  • the set that was used was either his SONOR he has or his Ayotte

  • Damn, i've seen some drum solos but wtf. How fast can you get. If you know what type of drum set that is post something. Plz! My idol.

  • Go and play with THE FACELESS! Their actual drummer (18 years old) doesn't kick that much asses!

  • nick pierce is amazing.

travis barker was my drummer role model until nick rolled along.

  • really? I'd hate myself if I once idolized travis barker

  • sweet

  • Nick Pierce is a fucking god!!!!!

  • Why the hell didn't this guy make it into TBDM?

  • haha I'm a year late, but I think they were decided on somebody before he tried out

  • i'm not sure i just remember seeing faceless i think in 06' when they had the long hair dude from igotshotintheface. now that was a show! ha!

  • He played with them, one of the videos of the mp3 of "Ghost of A Stranger" has a pic of their old line up when they had a keyboardist and shit, and Nick was in it.

  • i think i just had a heart attack.

    that was fucking amazing.

  • for me metal is fuckin stupid shit!!! but the drumming, for example of this guy, is impressive

  • metal is the fucking best.

  • other of my favs

  • this dude is like a machine!!!

  • IS HE PLAYING TRADITIONALL!???? Damnn Nigga got skillz.

  • he plays for the faceless, lol, it says it in the beginning.

  • what band does this guy play for?

  • he used to play for the faceless but now he quit

  • Marco doesn't play it as well as Nick does.

    It's deff Nick's song.

  • id have to say its batdorffs song.

    because he kinda wrote it.

  • Wow, traditional grip metal drummer! I haven't really seen that before.

  • thats great!

  • I just saw a video of Marco Pitruzzella playing An Autopsy for The Faceless while they are on their tour.. It was pretty sweet. Hes doing a good job.

  • I wish I could see his feet.

  • I remember seeing him live with the faceless. One of the guitarists broke a string and wile we where waiting for him to get another guitar. Everyone wanted him to play a solo, but he didnt want to. One of the things i really admired about him was that hes really modest even though hes amazing. Some drummers i've seen get really cocky and think they cant get any better. I like that he wasnt like that. he continues to be one of my favorite drummers.

  • dude that was in el paso wasn't it? I was there too.

He played fucking tight that day. And it gave me the laughs because while he was playing his solo the guitarist just started making noise with the guitar and nick got all pissed. Great day :)

  • yay! you where there too! yeah it was really awesome i had a lot of fun that day.

  • I know, i was at the california metalfest and something happened to the guitarist's guitar, and everyone wanted him to play a drum solo, but he didn't. But im not sure if this is the same guy because the faceless's drummer is that marco guy.

  • you were at the cali metalfest? i got in the pit when they played. it seemed everyband had sound problems that day. them and ABRB were the best. i saw them again may 18th at chain reaction

  • i liked suicide silence the best and knights of the abyss, as blood runs black was really good too.

  • are you going to see black dahlia murder and cannible corpse at the california metalfest this sept.

  • you should really go to california death fest in freso in late september. 3 days of the fastest most brutal gore/death grind bands around!!!!!!

  • i mean at the galaxy theatre not the california metalfest, i look into that i might go.

  • hmm nick just left the faceless and hes trying to get into the black dahlia murder .. The faceless and black dahlia are both great live.

  • This guy is definitely insane. My bass player was talking to him after a show and he said that he auditioned for Berklee but did not get in because he plays traditional. Weird, huh?

  • he wouldn't have not gotten in for that reason, maybe he couldn't read music and his grades really sucked, whatever the reason there would be a good one and using traditional wouldn't be it since I used it in my audition.

  • Yeah I didnt get in because my application was recieved late, I dont know where the whole traditional thing came from, kinda a shot in the dark. lol

  • Damn i loved those Cyncopated (spelling?) bass drum spurts thos were awsome =)

  • for the last time , triggers will not increase the bpm or speed, they merely play a pre-recorded sound of the bass drum , normally the same as a slow kick from the bass drum in question.professionals and metal drummers do this to give a constant tone to their bass , because as we all know , when you play blast beats or fast dub bass, the tone starts to fade as fatique sets in.

still , this guy is pro , traditional grip makes me say , well done bro , well done

  • I have a trigger and with my modual it makes it to were when you hit the bass once it does 2 all the way up to like 6 hits so it triggers can increase your speed. i rarely use them but when people trigger everything on there drum set it makes them seem better then they are.

  • I need to get me some of them ha. May I ask what type of triggers they are, and make I also ask what equipment is needed to go along with triggers?

  • The trigger that I found works best is Trigger Perfect triggers. Fucking Flawless! The kick trigger in the videos is a roland and I still use it, regardless of how bad it sucks. My module is a DM-5 and I run the output to a Peavey bass cab.

  • triggers are not suppost to do that..either your triggers are messed up or if you use Ekits then you set the hammer way to close the detonator. and if anyone acually tried to do that to "cheat" it would sound so sloppy and off time.

  • for example, All Shall Perish. I had to play his kit one show and he had the most insane cheater setup. His beater shafts were cut short so he could lower his beaters even lower. On top of that his footboard adjustment was dropped completely down and before the beater touched the head the e-kits triggered. weird

  • i went to highschool with this guy, he is so talented its fucking unreal.

  • FUCKIN AWESOME!

  • That guy is GOOD.

  • i like the way he plays traditional style, you dont see that very often.

  • triggers do not make you go faster. triggers are used so the bass drum doesnt sound softer as you go faster and keeps the same tone. they dont make any sound that you dont actually hit with the pedal. triggers also ruin any use of dynamics so basically the only people that use them are in death metal, where dynamics usually arent used.

  • daaammn

  • fucking amazing!

  • Nick is one of my best friends, and I must say, he is one of the fastest mother fuckers i have ever seen. He is AMAZING! And i have seen him grow from around 9th grade until about now....so I have seen about 6 years of evolution from him. He has come so far.

  • agreed with misanthropic. ninet4hours - do some research kiddo.

  • Jesus Triggers do not make you go faster!!! Find out what a trigger does before one speaks

  • yeah he may use triggers but basically every death metal drummer does but that doesnt take away from how fast he drums on the snares and high toms im sure without triggers its still pretty fast amazing drummer

  • I fuckin love the bassdrum sound, absoulutely awesome

  • kinda disapointing he uses triggers though : / for all of you that didnt know that

  • Dude who doesn't use triggers to metal? Sound so much better. I know I do.

  • fucking fuck that's fucking good.

  • Fuck yeah!

  • Im so getting some Sabian Vaults! oh and thats a badass snare dude! love that crack!

  • Nick Piercer ya the best dude
