I agree with rkkardo. Though IMO he is about 2-kyu in skill level. His posture is poor, his timing is off, and his movements aren't precise and sometimes jerky.... especially if you look at his other kata. His other kata has weak chiburi, and sometimes complete lack of good zanshin. Other times his movements are completely wrong such as in his kesa-giri. But his Ushiro was okay and better than most of his other kata.
i found his kata quite correct, even if i'm not ok with the timing (own point of view, not a criticism), i found all the points are respected in the kata, nd overall he is constant meaning he practiced quite some years ;). how long Lurie sensei practiced iaido, and which grade did he reach ? under znkr or affiliated federation? (i know grade doesn't count much, but i would know what i should wait about some one of his rank)
Sensei Luria is not part of Akban, he just contributed these kata as part of our ongoing project of documenting martial arts in video, on the Akban-wiki.
He practices ZKNR, for how many years? I don't know, I'll try to find out
just cut and pasted this from the Akban-wiki, there you go:
...3. Then, after moving forward, cuts the head or chest from above (kirioroshi) in a straight downward cut. 4. After cutting, the swordsman shakes the blood of the blade (o-chiburi, the left hand on the hip). while getting up from a half kneeling position. 5...
However, if you feel your self to be able to do better, please feel free to google AKBAN-wiki, log in and post your, much better technique to our martial arts encyclopedia.
If it will be better I can guarantee you it will replace sensei Lurie's kata.
不錯!

Just out of interest, what purpose does the roll-to-diagonal slash serve (after the downward slash)?
