right i have both a crazy corsa and a 265 bhp mr2 turbs right ! the corsa may pulla 5.6 but the jdm turbos do a 5.9 stock and have way higher potential the corsa wont get any faster than that if it gets more powerfull u wont be able to lay power ! the mr2s are fast as fuck !!
Probably 10% of racers car about straight line speed. The MR2 is an amazing chassis stock. Just today I was up driving palomar mountain, CA and was easily keeping up with a CRX that had slicks on....with street tires. I have a bone stock gen2 motor which on a good day dyno about 160 at the wheels. His STI buddy pulled over about half way up and let me pass, lol. This was uphill too.
I've owned 4 MR2s currently got a rev3 turbo running 300bhp (easily done and doesnt cost the earth). Each to they're own but front wheel drive is for getting shopping in not going around a track lol. 5.6 sec is amazing for a corsa but its nothing to brag about after an engine swop. suggest u change the title mate their not in the same league and never will be no matter how much effort u put in.
You're having a laugh if you think that piece of rubbish would get anywhere close to a standard tubby on a straight, and on a track it would be left behind by the n/a (gti) as well. Can't believe anyone would be proud of putting that down a track, come back to reality, its a corsa for gods sake!!Oh and the gti will easily hit 60 in 7 seconds btw.
I have had 2 rev 3 mr2's, and now have a rev 4 mr2. its running about 190BHP with cold feed induction and de-cat exhaust, would welcome a go even with this corsa as i dont believe that a front wheel drive car designed for carting old grannies about town is capable of such things, id rather be seen on my nans disability scooter!! Plus wheres the fun in drag racing, lets see it around a track, eating mr2s dust is more appropriate.
@Galahadfairlight LMAO You cunt...my dads freind has a 80's mini with a c30xe...so im sure with mod it will fit in a corsa so your the propa fucking moron mate!...whatd yu think they do with British touring cars?..set the engine further back.so its more than posible on any front engined car if you have the skill and tools to do so.
I've seen Corsa's with similar power to this give the Evo boys a run for thier money on a track. MR2's are nice and i like them, but Corsa's can be capable,
@hardcoretam so your trying to say a corsa will give an evo a run for its money on a track, which track was this? and was the driver of the evo occupied by a large crocodile in the passenger seat by any chance ? tbh mate that 3.0 l v6 corsa would struggle to go round any bends at more than 30 mph how can something designed to have a 1600cc engine be anygood with an engine nearly twice its size ? dont get me wrong though its effing quick in a straight line.
@hardcoretam like i say though, c20let or not a corsa should not be able to do an evo round a track ? maybe the driver of the corsa your on about has some secret skill! i dont no, but all i know is as soon as you put a 2.0l in a corsa they dont steer simple as, ino plenty of people who have had xe'd corsas c20lets they just understeer like f*ck i had a 1400 sri years back that was bad enough without a 2.0l lump in the front,
@lewlew62 I own a rev 4 N/A as well as a 2.0 turbo (VXR Engine) Corsa C. MR2 is at 182BHP dyno'd at.... it still wouldn't keep up with this V6 corsa I know as the pure torque of the V6 would be killer! An N/A MR2 can just about keep up with the old 1.6 typer r honda civic. As for my Corsa C, it's at 336BHP and slays nearly all cars round my local area accept a recent race between myself and a porsche GT3 RS lol! :-(
@dbonner14 bullshit ! a n/a mr2 wouldnt stay with a b16b ek9 its that was your talking about there civics are lighter forgetin the power diffrence ! the mr2s guys on here are talking about are turbos mostly modded these days theyre properly fast man and iv never rated z20lets
@oldboi1 my 1993 N/A mr2 GT (currently 186 at the fly) runs a 14.9 quarter mile (crail) which was consistantly faster than the plethora of EP Type R's and a b16b engine'd eg coupe.
my mr2 has cost a total of £1400 including purchase of £850 and tein coilovers, full stainless exhaust etc etc.
next week its going in for its own V6 engine transplant. 3.0l 3vzfe from toyota. 0-60 in sub 6 second range and low 14's to high 13's on the quarter. i am yet to see a civic get anywhere near that in the uk.
@oldboi1 stock what?... civic?... piss off. not even close, im in 2nd gear whilst the civic is sat spinning its front wheels. dont forget acceleration is about torque and the 3sge has loads of torque low down.... plus you can rev it to 5000rpm and drop the clutch and it just grips and launches.
no my car isnt standard. its got an exhaust on it. and silicone leads. but thats it. how many civics do you know with stock exhaust?
@antonyaiken i think we should clear up exactly what cars we are talkin about im not goin to say a fully modded car will lose to a stock car am i but what car, n model year cars we talkin ?
@oldboi1 a bone stock b16b civic, steel wheels, tiny exhaust and all seats etc. vs 1997 rev5 n/a mr2 2.0 gt.
0-60 for civic, 7.2. 0-60 mr2, 6.8. the torque of the mr2 will pull it through the rev range faster than the high revving civic. the mr2 has 210bhp n/a (dual vvti beams engine) 170 ish lbs/ft. civic has 165-170bhp but torque is around 140ft/lbs. problem is in the civic it comes too high up the rev range. kind of like turbo lag for non turbo cars. mine is slower than this mr2.
@antonyaiken right there we go then ! i thort you was talkin about a typical 158-175bhp mr2 wich come in at just under 8 seconds ! and even still i think a b16a2 del or civic etc would be right up with you bare in mind im a fan of both a big fan too ! but the hondas are lighter ! so to be honest the arguement was not clearly stated exact but i think it still wouldnt embarres a decent model !!
7.8??? i have a standard normal aspirated mr2 and it does 0-60 in 7 a turbo would do it in about 5.5 not modded atall satndard the rev 3 is 240 bhp rev 1 and 2 are 220
i dont think your little mr2 will do 0 - 60 in 7 secs with 119 bhp or 168 if you have the gt. the gt does in in around 8 secs. im only talking about the uk models are aware you can get the jap imports that are turbod.
I have the rev 3 GT SPORT which is 175 bhp AND IT DOES IT IN 7.2 (to split hairs) you're right about the 119 ghb if ya talking about the mark2 revolution1 non gt - and ya right bout the 168 bhp rev2 BUT LIKE I SAID I DNT HAVE THOSE TWO, I HAVE THE REV 3 .. so my (not so little) mr2 will do it in 7.(2) secs.. i suggest you learn more about mr2's

@adamqwertyuiop123456 Always the same huh mate... Gotta put big engines in little cars but if the same money went into the MR2 the corsa would get raped....
i think its obvious why people do it like iv seen crazy golfs corsa's novas 205s stay up with supercars but thats why they do it becuase its the un expected ? understand the concept and yes mr2s do have higher potential if the equal was spent but mr2 turbos are fkin fast from stock so itss a testement if theres a corsa keepin with a stock mr2
Oh, and i'll add - You claim the title was technically and politically incorrect but the only way you support this is by comparing it to the fastest mr2 in europe. Great comparison! Compare it to a stock one at least. If you read through all the above, you will see why I summarised in my very first comment.
The title to this video is technically and politically incorrect, first off considering that these cars are not American but European, the fastest MR2 which made it into Europe was capable of hitting 60 in under 5 seconds. Not many cars will eat an MR2.
I know right and yet I still have people giving me negative marks and this tool box below calls me a muppet, as if he knows so much beter than we do, when we both have MR2s, wow I'm so insulted, I can't believe he called me, (of all things) a muppet. Wow what an insult.
Wow thats such a grown up thing to do. Calling someone a name because a difference of opinion, and comparing facts with facts, and not opinion with facts.
I could justify my comment with reasoning, but I really havent got the patience. Leave the corsa alone - You cant compare chalk and cheese. Not suprisingly you give the video stick because you own an M R Poo.
Obviously you can't justify crap because I never said anything about he Corsa, and the MR2 is one of the most respected cars on a race any race track, so do yourself a favor don't try to justify your idiotic name calling which has nothing to do with facts of performance. Including myself, two people have confirmed what I said, so as it looks right now, the odds are against you. Shush, just because you play Forza doesn't mean you know.
The odds are against me? What does that mean? Ok - some justification so you can open up your narrow mind - you have said that the title is incorrect... which is the comment i disagree with. Lets say the corsa and the mr2 both pull away from a slow roundabout in 2nd gear. The corsa wont suffer from turbo lag and may get away faster OR in the wet it would be easier for the corsa to put the power down around corners without fear of spinning OR ANY NUMBER OF REASONS.
My point is that you dont know. You dont know what power the corsa is producing. You dont know how the 0-60 has been measured. You dont know the conditions. You cant compare somthing that you dont know about. I am happy to assume that the title is correct, that this MAY have happened, which is why he titled it that way. I think you need to accept it for what it is, and not feel the need to defend your beloved mr2.
My point was that I doubted that it was an MR2 eater. To eat a car and to beat a car is different, to beat a car is just to be faster plain and simple, to eat a car you must be faster by a substantial amount, besides I compared it to s stock 3rd gen MR2 which hit 60 in 4.8sec with 245BHP, not Its pretty safe to assume that what I said was accurate and you are pissed that an MR2 beat e car which you seem to be retarded for.
Yes there are videos of the 245 BHP MR2 accelerating to 60 on youtube. Find one, they will prove I am right and accurate about my figure, plus I didn't compare it to the fastest MR2, I compared to the 3rd Gen MR2 245BHP the 4th gen was 250BHP with VVTI, and the fastest was the TRD2000GT 495BHP and 0-60 in 3.6sec. Trust me stick to Forza.
whats with you and Forza, are you saying Forza or technology itself is unbale to emulate real life racing, cmon its not called a racing sim for nothing. I know it's noT perfect but it has lots of facts.4 I love mr2s by the way I wanna get one, but I heard theyre pretty beat up.
No no I was making fun of someone else for something they said in regars to Forza, but as far the MR2 goes they are great cars and depending on the generation and the amount of money you spend, then yeah most of the cars have been abused but not all of them are abused to death, just really inspect the car good and proper, the cars to really be careful of are the Turbos, any turbo for the most part are beaten worse than any other type.
Change your argument any way you want, I talking about straight line speed, you are argued that, I proved you wrong and now you bring in 2nd gear starting, turbo lag, fwd vs rwd, ad an issue of accelerating in the rain, I am ignoring you now, you obviously have never even driven a car and base your facts of a game like Forza which in accurate anyways.
KaDuWin - I really dont care about the facts and figures about an mr2. I dont play video games (im guessing thats what forza is) and im not going to argue with you about the definition of 'eating' a car. I havent bought any opinion into this page, except my opinion of you. If you dont like what I say sit and swivel. Im not entertaining this any more.

Not many cars will eat an MR2.

for sure, even when i had my mr2 stock it did it in 5.6 , i got a JDM 95Turbo
now its 4.9-5
so yeh it eats this up

I know right and yet I still have people giving me negative marks and this tool box below calls me a muppet, as if he knows so much beter than we do, when we both have MR2s, wow I'm so insulted, I can't believe he called me, (of all things) a muppet. Wow what an insult.

KaDuWin - youre a muppet.

Wow thats such a grown up thing to do. Calling someone a name because a difference of opinion, and comparing facts with facts, and not opinion with facts.

I could justify my comment with reasoning, but I really havent got the patience. Leave the corsa alone - You cant compare chalk and cheese. Not suprisingly you give the video stick because you own an M R Poo.
adriles 4 years ago

The corsa wont suffer from turbo lag and may get away faster OR in the wet it would be easier for the corsa to put the power down around corners without fear of spinning OR ANY NUMBER OF REASONS.
adriles 4 years ago

KaDuWin 4 years ago
Yes there are videos of the 245 BHP MR2 accelerating to 60 on youtube. Find one, they will prove I am right and accurate about my figure, plus I didn't compare it to the fastest MR2, I compared to the 3rd Gen MR2 245BHP the 4th gen was 250BHP with VVTI, and the fastest was the TRD2000GT 495BHP and 0-60 in 3.6sec. Trust me stick to Forza.
KaDuWin 4 years ago
whats with you and Forza, are you saying Forza or technology itself is unbale to emulate real life racing, cmon its not called a racing sim for nothing. I know it's noT perfect but it has lots of facts.4 I love mr2s by the way I wanna get one, but I heard theyre pretty beat up.
GodsSoulja777 3 years ago

KaDuWin 4 years ago
KaDuWin - I really dont care about the facts and figures about an mr2. I dont play video games (im guessing thats what forza is) and im not going to argue with you about the definition of 'eating' a car. I havent bought any opinion into this page, except my opinion of you. If you dont like what I say sit and swivel. Im not entertaining this any more.
