I ate in this restaurant yesterday!! Fantastic, sublime, one of the best places i have ever been and i ve visited a few restaurants, travelled in 40 countries and lived in 3,one of the tastiest food ever, even the poutine that i usually dont like was incredibly sublime, with foie gras, a real delicacy.and the pigs head?a real feast to be shared witht least two people.everything is so tasty. and being Italian it is something to say that the poutine au foie gras now i put it at the par with pasta!
I'm born and raised in Toronto and Montreal is easily one of my favourite places on Earth. Don't get me wrong; Toronto is my first love but there's something about Montreal that keeps me always coming back year after year (sometimes twice a year). Montreal sait faire!
Foie gras is quite the food. Rich and delicious, great on top of a steak. And Quebec? not so friendly to outsiders, especially in rural areas, and especially against ontarians.
I went to Au Pied de Cochon during Jazz Fest 2011. Lively atmosphere, but thought the food was just above-average. Had the foie gras, Pied de Cochon and Duck-in-a-Can. Internet opinion seems to be that APDC is past its prime.
Poutine is a horrible and fatty food ....try the Canadian Salmon is way much better , there is more better food in the Province of Qc than the Poutine .
@musicfan28 Poutine is NOT horrible, it is rich and delicious. Canadian salmon is pretty much the same as salmon everywhere, poutine is a Quebec institution. Fatty, as most chefs will tell you, definitely Tony included, is not a bad thing, if done well: Fat is Flavor. The French (in France) eat MUCH more fatty foods, but they remain quite healthy, why, PORTIONS!!!! It's not so much what you eat as how much, and whether or not you get of your lazy butt afterwards.
hate haterz, just shut up, its normal to speak in french in a french province dude, if you want to hate a english school just search on google so... ta yeule tbk
It's not perfect but I was surprised how much space these ducks had to run around in. I'd be ok eating them, especially in contrast to eating your standard supermarket chicken (which I never do these days)
I am a vegetarian and I say what ever makes you happy go for it. Life's to short to whine about what you say I can't or shouldn't eat. If YOU like foie gras then enjoy it
Finally made it out to Au Pied de Cochon a couple weeks ago. Had really high expectations based on this episode, but was not disappointed at all. The tarragon bison tongue was amazing (and for a $6 appetizer, could have been a meal in itself) and the fois gras poutine was transcendent. You ahve to make a reservation a month or more in advance (mainly because of this episode) but it's well worth it. Food/drinks/staff are all wonderful.

Quebec is the worst. I live 15 mins from the Province. French people are racists and have the worst rules when it comes to language for newcomers. If you are planning to learn english to anyone who is planning to live in Canada. I would advise not to live In that province. You will be forced to learn the language as being your primary if you have kids. They will be forced to go to a french school! That is the worst form of torture to anyone.
@BeyondChange If you decide to move to a country, you learn to speak its language, period. There's nothing racist or extremist about that. So you're right, if learning French is too much effort, just don't move to Quebec.
@BeyondChange i dont see anything wrong about learning another language.I would have been happy to learn english when i was younger.I live in quebec and my wife is an american. She have a son and he's gonna have to learn french in school.I see this more as a blessing than something wrong. He will be bilingual.Yes we kinda force people to learn it but then again it's not something this bad to learn stuff in life,is it?
After all that food he had, I know at the end he was struggling eating it. I know I can eat alot but it depends on food, I love foie gras but I'll get sick.. I wonder if Anthony got sick after eating part of those meals.
I freaking luv travelling to Quebec! As soon as I cross that Ontario Quebec border (usually by Temiscaming) I know I be in Quebec..I love the friendliness of Quebec people...way more than Ontarians (where we are uber suspicious...why???I do not know why..) But I heart Quebec!
@MaxFrisch84 that was a bad joke :), but I have to agree with you, I loved Montreal. Candians live really, well and their culinary and entertainment is great!.
so much food he got to eat.. I was watching this and I think I would of got sick at the second plate! don't get me wrong i love fois gras.. but it's my liver that doesn't like me! lol
Tony Bourdain and I, it seems, share the idea that all food can be good and that in actual fact there isn't enough of it to go around for the world. I think when he eats unconventional animal parts, or has disdain for people who want to reduce the amount and variety of food we have available to consume, he gets pissy. So do I. Vegetarianism is fine and all but don't assume you are being more righteous than me because I choose the eat my food free of political, religious or social boundaries.

I do love how they show happy free roaming ducks on the farm , no pictured of tightly locked up ducks with there heads tightly strapped still so they can ram feeding tubes down there throat multiple times a day. Or all the duck that die and got tossed out during that process and are just a waste to them. DISGUSTING
Yeah, as much as I enjoy his show, I have some serious issues with his attitude towards vegetarians, whom he manages to make some sort of quip about in most shows.
I also think it's interesting how he gets uncomfortable when he actually sees the animals being killed, but has no problem eating when he's detached from the process...
I agree with you on your Vegetarian comment, but those are his views and I respect them. I think a lot of what he says is tongue-in-cheek humor though.

@BLastyboW seriously, I mean PETA's a litter over the top but come on. I bet you feel bad when you see all those humane society and aspca commercials, what makes animals you eat any different?
@BLastyboW yes, however, the problem of eating meat goes beyond compassion for the suffering of animals. the chicken in the grocery store is a political problem, because Big Ag's industrial agriculture is subsidized by gov't money. we eat too much meat (and sugar and sodium), and it is unhealthy. Not to mention the inevitable Bird Flu or Swine flu that will actually have a big impact

The Quebecois are not racists-I'm a US citizen living in QC and I love it and the people.
Remember the old adage, "When in Rome...?"
If I travel to a different country, I want to learn to speak at least a little of the native language. It shows courtesy and respect.
If you cannot handle that, then stay in your English bubble.
