So now, after Romney has taken a beating for his faith. Will the evangelicals let him compete and judge him on his policies? And will any one in the LDS vote for anyone else because of his policies? Interesting situation.

My feeling is that a Mormon had to run and awaken the public to the issue of his faith, just as and early Catholic ran and lost and then people calmed down and were more accepting when Kennedy came.  I think that that Romney has a real chance now in 2012.
