@TheRiisingSun agreed - the idea was just to show a quick and dirty example of how it works. Naturally it can be done a lot better with some more time :)
@emperordarius lol at the people giving you thumbs down, you're right. you cant compare them just like you cant compare linux with windows, i prefer linux for almost evreything but i prefer to use windows for gaming, (to me its like driving a crappy car, i dont like it but it works)
I can't seem to get it to work well. it seems to take textures for completely random areas of the image to recompile. from what I've been reading Resynthesizer is currently not compatible with the newest gimp installs.
One last thing. At least CS5's is going to be stable on all systems. Resynthesizer seems to always crash some "script-fu" process, then I'm spammed with some error message every two seconds, my only solice being that GIMP doesn't bring it up in a different window every time, instead saying "The message has been repeated xx times.", though each time it "repeats", the window draws focus, making copypasting to salvage my work nearly impossible. Guess my point is you get what you pay for.

It does well, but adds a little splotch from the darker green mountains where it doesn't belong. Instead, it should've used the brownish green grass. Get what I mean now? CS5 seems (keyword SEEMS) more exact in its procedure.
Resynthesizer is neat and all, but from what I see in the CS5 preview, which I"m sure inspired you to post this in an attempt to one-up it, CS5 takes it further.
Resynthesizer is inexact. I'd had moments where I tried to remove artifacts and resynthesizer would make it a whole different color, no matter what settings I tweaked, it didn't blend. Of course there's also moments where it acts as wonky as the CS4 healing brush, adding elements where it doesn't belong.
It IS the same feature as in photoshop: Of course, the Adobe-Team is working with ideal demo-materials, there is no magic. You can tweak and configure the resynthesizer and try some different cuts. If parts from the sky are mixed in the ground (for example), un-select "vertical tiling" and try again.
@scarslasher Resynthesizer is likely not as good as content aware fill, but consider the price difference, the age of resynthesizer, and the fact that removal wasn't even it's primary purpose (it's primary purpose was to replicate whats already in an image to create tiling images, being able to remove stuff is more a side effect). It's also pretty scalable so you can tweak it and a damn near as good result. Plus, I'm sure soon a new competing version will come out that's as good as CS5.
Great video. But, I got some problems with extracting files from zipped file. As I understood there are two elements to be extracted differently. Plug-ins and scripts. I found two things in "scripts" ( smart enlarge and sharpen). I extracted them. When I re-start gimp, they were only two elements, smart enlarge, and smart sharpen. Both of them do not work. I think I could not extract, or install the plug-in properly. Does it seem wrong? If there is a better way to install, I'll gladly try it.

@hickyhojo Gimp is for people not wanting to buy Photoshop
I hate people who is being hateful about such small things
BTW I'm 99,8 % sure that you do not own Photoshop and just torrented it

@coolguyflex whats wrong with getting it illegally. you might as well live it up because in the future you wont be able to do that.

@hickyhojo So that makes the guys who actually follows the laws fags?

I tried resynthesizer, but it constantly made errors. It did better than a flood fill, but it's only 3/4 of the way there.

@tompalomp you can clearly see the block of what was resynthesized.. Not a very good resynth job by GIMP..
Maybe if it wasn't such a sloppy selection job it might've been better..

@scarslasher That's a silly point. Perhaps with Photoshop you get what you pay for. With Gimp, you get infinite times as much as you paid for.

Um... isn't GIMP free? And correct me if my math is wrong but isn't 0 times anything still 0?

Your math is right, your understanding is wrong.
Return on Investment (ROI) = Return/Investment... divide by 0, do not multiply.
