A lot of these seem to rely quite heavily on the gunman not having a) reaction speed less than a few seconds, and b) not reacting at all.

If you react at all and the gun is pointing at any part of your body for more than a split second most civies will fire out of panic.

if they are military, then you better hope they don't know any hand to hand. (or for the ear thing, that they are artillery boys)

I can see just fine. Most of these Techs are good for the provided demo situation. One thing to remember the important part of these demo's is the disarm/gun redirection. Once that gun has been neutralized as an immediate threat, the rest will vary based on position, timing, situation, etc. Beware however when "Grabbing" a revolver because if it goes off, the bullet might miss, but there is enough pressure coming out from the sites of a cylinder to blow your finger off.

It occurs to me however that while the average layman should generally just give the guy with the gun what he wants that this video *would* be of great value to anyone in a military or law-enforcement occupation, augmenting your basic training with practicing these techniques wouldn't be a half bad idea at all.

Yes i agree in theory this would work but people kick and move about in strange ways. The behavior of the man attacking is not typical. also some moves the gun is pointed at the disarming mans head, while taking away the weapon. If it were to even work one trigger pull would mean death. I assume he only way any of these would work is with extremely fast reaction speeds, which he may have but most other will not. The best way to disarm someone is to practice for years and years till perfect

This information is very good in two ways. First, why would you not want to know how to disarm an assailant? Sure you may not ever need to, god bless us that we shouldn't, but if the worst possible situation arises then these tactics could save your life or someone you love. Second, often times if you produce a firearm in a conflict the person you are trying to subdue with that weapon is going to try to take it from you, good to see how they might try. P.S.
