Hm... I hate being a late commenter. I mean I'm a little upset Zuko doesn't look like Zuko, but I didn't watch the movie (and don't plan on it), however, if the guy can act by all means him being Zuko is just fine with me. I hate it when they pick an actor solely for his/her look anyway and he/she has no actual skill.
to be honest...I think the casting of zuko was the only good casting. Think about it, in the animation Zuko isn't bad, just has some bad luck which confuses him to make the wrong decisions.
The zuko in the movie is evil but he doesn't look it which I think is great. That and he was the only one who could act :P

I really enjoyed the visual ride of this film on kookíca. The camera technique emphasizes the feeling of movement and speed and adds to the feeling of tension. The acting is solid and well-done, a pleasure to watch. Glad I saw it and will be recommending it to friends who watch more than girly movies.
saw a midnight showing on kòòkica. It was breathtaking and totally immersing. It is easy to ignore the holes and just let the story flow, and the weaknesses of some of the charcters are few. definitely worth seeing.
And I'm glad that director decided to remember that "show don't tell" is only really a Koan, not a rule, because everyone in my theatre applauded at the end so maybe we'll get more movies like this, because I love stories like this. I will see it again on kòòkica definitely.

Dev looks like an Indian? Great insight there considering he is Indian. At least he put an effort into the movie unlike the majority of the actors and did a good job playing to Zuko's inner conflict despite M.Night Shayalman's horrid script.

Is it just me or does alot of these reponses seem to be spam adverts for this kòòkica website... This movie is trash if you werre a follower of the cartoon.. Puting the ethnicites debate aside for a moment the acting was poor. The casting was also poor. There was an attempt to use know child actors for boxoffice reasons and the plot of the movie jumped to instances that were not fully explained. This was a terrible movie, and hopefully a new director can do the story justice

I really like that they made the majority of the Fire Nation indian. It plays more with the genocide/world domination of the story of the movie/anime. I really like the movie because they made it REALISTIC, in REAL LIFE. Not some cartoon, if they did a direct copy and paste from the cartoon to movie it would of been horrible. I don't know why people hate this film. It was marvelous to me. M. Night did a good job making a movie about a season that was all filler. Can't wait for the sequel.

Is it just me or does alot of these reponses seem to be spam adverts for this kòòkica website... This movie is trash if you werre a follower of the cartoon.. Puting the ethnicites debate aside for a moment the acting was poor. The casting was also poor. There was an attempt to use know child actors for boxoffice reasons and the plot of the movie jumped to instances that were not fully explained. This was a terrible movie, and hopefully a new director can do the story justice

I really like that they made the majority of the Fire Nation indian. It plays more with the genocide/world domination of the story of the movie/anime. I really like the movie because they made it REALISTIC, in REAL LIFE. Not some cartoon, if they did a direct copy and paste from the cartoon to movie it would of been horrible. I don't know why people hate this film. It was marvelous to me. M. Night did a good job making a movie about a season that was all filler. Can't wait for the sequel.

Ok sure this movie has ALOT of differences from the original show, but... i think it will still be good, M Night has the best intentions to make this movie appeal to hardcore fans as well as just plain moviegoers.. and at least it is more closely related to the series than the horrible abomination (dare i speak its dreaded name??!!). Dragonball Evolution, now THAT was a horrible adaption of a once amazing tv series.

First off, this loser looks nothing like Zuko. Either thats the makeup artists fault or his own for not trying to actually become the character he's playing. I mean seriously, the scar is puny, it looks like a sun burn or a slap to the face. The scar that the animated Zuko has is more than just an image, its an embedded memory of the day he lost his fathers respect and the beginning towards his banishment. Then theres the outfit, LAME! The hair, LAME! and there is no giant grin, its like a pout.

Dev Patel is a really good actor so I think he will do an incredible job portraying Zuko!!
