omg thats so sad! Ahh I appreciate my dogs so much.. though my oldest one tends to go somewhere for a short period of minutes and one time she didnt come back... we finally found her.
It's a shame you don't like dogs or pets in general. You would be surprised by what they can give. My dogs have always been my family since my first Yellow Lab. He died at 16 years old. My dogs have always been there for me no matter what the situation. My 3 dogs now seem to to know the dogs before them. They react when they sense I am happy, scared, angry, alert, etc. I wish you could experience the greatness of animals. They are most often better friends & family then people.
Great short film, i am going to make one myself but it wont be anywhere near as gud as this as i will only be using Imovie. but i know that all the effects used in this film can be found in imovie.
I won't assume to know you or what would make you happy...but I will say that there is no career more deeply satisfying to a physically active artist, as filmmaking. PS: Tech school is boring. :)
haha. Yeah I agree. But from what I know if (this may be totally untrue) is that filmmaking is a tough industry to make money in. But it would definitely be waaaay more fun. haha.
Try not to let a paycheck scare you out of being in the career you want. I have dozens of friends who have graduated from film school. The ones who aren't totally driven work in various places making indie films on the side. Moderately driven filmmakers have semi-steady studio work along with their own indie work on the side. REALLY dedicated people like you and me wind up either in highly paid positions or owning our own film companies. We're growing from absolutely nothing but our experience.
Does the actual school itself matter? I live in North Carolina and I'm not the "city" type of person. I know USC and NYU have great film schools, but I don't want to live in LA or New York...any advice?
I tried to reply earlier with a link...it didn't post. North Carolina School of the Arts has an excellent program for filmmaking. On the other hand--don't let the cities scare you. Everyone thinks they are just full of beautiful, talented people. They're not. They're full of talented people from all over the world. And here, in LA, the pretty people get paid by the smart ones. :)
Hi, can I add something to this conversation? Almost anyone can learn the technical skills for making films, but not everyone has the artistic ability to make them "special", you know, that unwritten magic ingredient that makes a good film, a great film.
I think there is something of that magic ingredient in the work you have presented here. I think there is a great artist within you that could really shine with the right nurturing.
i think it would have looked a lot better if youtube didn't have such crappy quality sometimes. it probably looked great on your computer. but still great.
To be quite honest, your film was better. The music is what makes this good. And we only spent less than one day planning, filming, and editing. We are planning a film over the summer that should be much better. But thanks! We have only been making films for a year, so we learn by experience!
Awesome man! I recommend that you check out advertising on Craigs list and hold auditions...you'd be amazed at the caliber of actors that are willing to work for free - just for the face time.
And this isn't a bad short film, per say. I'm just talking about when you start comparing it to shorts in festivals. And for just one year, you guys look to be on the right track. Just get a Mac, and ditch those dreadful PCs :)
Well done! Must tell you these days my best friend is a Black Lab named Bentley! And my best friend ever was one named Charlie..Your video was esceptional!
Did you guys use one of those single handed 'steadi-cam=lite' type getups where you put the camera on top of a sort of swaying bobblehead you have to try and control from a handle below?
It takes FOREVER getting used to them. I never quite feel comfortable enough when behind the wheel of one.
..that is, if you ARE using one. But I'm almost CERTAIN you are, the way it sways when you're not moving, and the way it looks rather steady if you're running alongside a moving subject. Otherwise...
Impressive. Very good contrastning colors from the black and white to the bright red shirt. The lighting on the grave was interesting because the light would shine and then receed. Very well done
We literally spent 10 minutes writing, 30 minutes filming, and 30 minutes editing. So not much planning went into shot types and angles, so we just improvised.
man, you're good at so many styles... this was different, but still effective. good choice of music, but the only thing would be to use some slow motion shots with Yogi running around, or maybe a really close up shot with Bryan's eyes bulging when he sees what happened.
was this a true story?
