  • was this a true story?

  • We enjoy watching it! Though it's a sad story..

  • really touching, mans best friend! There this online film festival BIGSTARtv is hosting, the grand prize is 50,000!

  • Very nice....touching....beautiful piano music While you are visiting YouTube please take a look at DogSong2 Better with you There Its a colorful collection of doggie art combined with a heartwarming country tune about losing man's best friend.

  • sad story, but the acting...

  • Thats so sad :(

  • wow now i fell kinda deppressed... but that was a good video

  • Man shouldn't have to see his dog die, they are good friends. Even Hitler's dog was good friend to Hitler.

  • omg thats so sad! Ahh I appreciate my dogs so much.. though my oldest one tends to go somewhere for a short period of minutes and one time she didnt come back... we finally found her.

  • great vid made me wanna cry too :(

  • great video

  • thats sad ='(

  • What is the song called? =D

  • wow thats good im thinking about getting the cannon vixia hv30 do you think this is a good choice?

  • Honestly, I think you should go for the Sony HDR-SR11.

  • Did this really happen to you? Did the dog really die?

  • almost made me cry..... .... ...

  • Same. That was great. 5/5

  • Ya Best Video On youtube...ever

  • this is my no 1 facourite film on utube!!!

    i love it

    its realy special i think

thanx for putting this on utube!!!!!!

  • i love the music. very nice work 5/5.

  • very goodb realy touching!!!!:D

    10/10

  • Great short film. You totally captured the emotion.

  • did the dog actually like die or run away? good short film it was really sad

  • its so saaaaaaad... T_T

even though i hate dogs and pets generally, it made me felt so missing my family that has already passes away.. :( tnx for this awesome short film.

we really cant say till when are we gonna be in this world. T.T

  • It's a shame you don't like dogs or pets in general. You would be surprised by what they can give. My dogs have always been my family since my first Yellow Lab. He died at 16 years old. My dogs have always been there for me no matter what the situation. My 3 dogs now seem to to know the dogs before them. They react when they sense I am happy, scared, angry, alert, etc. I wish you could experience the greatness of animals. They are most often better friends & family then people.

  • Im depressed now

Great short film, i am going to make one myself but it wont be anywhere near as gud as this as i will only be using Imovie. but i know that all the effects used in this film can be found in imovie.

Keep on making those films there really good

  • man good job 5/5

  • i cried a lot nice song

  • i luv this video

  • Elegant but simple. Thoughtful...interesting. Are you attending any trade schools for film or college?

  • I haven't decided... I am either going to a technical/engineering college or film school. I still have 2 years before college so I am still not sure.

  • I won't assume to know you or what would make you happy...but I will say that there is no career more deeply satisfying to a physically active artist, as filmmaking. PS: Tech school is boring. :)

  • haha. Yeah I agree. But from what I know if (this may be totally untrue) is that filmmaking is a tough industry to make money in. But it would definitely be waaaay more fun. haha.

  • Try not to let a paycheck scare you out of being in the career you want. I have dozens of friends who have graduated from film school. The ones who aren't totally driven work in various places making indie films on the side. Moderately driven filmmakers have semi-steady studio work along with their own indie work on the side. REALLY dedicated people like you and me wind up either in highly paid positions or owning our own film companies. We're growing from absolutely nothing but our experience.

  • (you are really inspiring me) haha

Does the actual school itself matter? I live in North Carolina and I'm not the "city" type of person. I know USC and NYU have great film schools, but I don't want to live in LA or New York...any advice?

  • I tried to reply earlier with a link...it didn't post. North Carolina School of the Arts has an excellent program for filmmaking. On the other hand--don't let the cities scare you. Everyone thinks they are just full of beautiful, talented people. They're not. They're full of talented people from all over the world. And here, in LA, the pretty people get paid by the smart ones. :)

  • Hi, can I add something to this conversation? Almost anyone can learn the technical skills for making films, but not everyone has the artistic ability to make them "special", you know, that unwritten magic ingredient that makes a good film, a great film.

I think there is something of that magic ingredient in the work you have presented here. I think there is a great artist within you that could really shine with the right nurturing.

    Just my £0.02 worth :-)

  • @WellstonePictures Never dude. The only film school is making films and watching them. Don't wait for the perfect moment. Just do it!

  • what the dog died! so sad!.......Great work tho!

  • Very nice work indeed.

  • OMG! I was welling up! What an absolutely magical film! Brilliantly made.

Simple, yet probably the most atmospheric amateur film I have ever seen!

Well done! You should enter this into film festivals (if you haven't already)it's winning material.

  • Thanks!

  • i think it would have looked a lot better if youtube didn't have such crappy quality sometimes. it probably looked great on your computer. but still great.

  • well yeah, that's why I upload it at high quality so the "watch in high quality" shows up....

  • ohhh.... i get it now. thanks

  • thats awesome.

  • Great Job with this. It really had a great mood to it. keep up the good vids!

  • I'll admit i'm not too fond of this film, but i looked at your other stuff and it is actually quite good. Keep up the good work!

  • To be quite honest, your film was better. The music is what makes this good. And we only spent less than one day planning, filming, and editing. We are planning a film over the summer that should be much better. But thanks! We have only been making films for a year, so we learn by experience!

    Thanks for the feedback!

  • Awesome man! I recommend that you check out advertising on Craigs list and hold auditions...you'd be amazed at the caliber of actors that are willing to work for free - just for the face time.

And this isn't a bad short film, per say. I'm just talking about when you start comparing it to shorts in festivals. And for just one year, you guys look to be on the right track. Just get a Mac, and ditch those dreadful PCs :)

  • Yeah thats a good idea, I hadn't though of craigs list. Thanks!

  • excellent:)

  • I wanna cry :( . 5/5 :S

  • what kind of dog is that

  • this is very goo dbut sad at the same time =[

    almost had me crying

my dog died like 2 months ago

he really was my best friend ='[

  • this is really good and sad at the same time.

  • Well done! Must tell you these days my best friend is a Black Lab named Bentley! And my best friend ever was one named Charlie..Your video was esceptional!

  • Thank you!

  • great job. nice video!

  • props on getting second place in top ten!

  • Thanks!

Im not surprised that Black Button beat me though. That film is amazing.

  • yeah it is really good no lie

  • wait, top ten of what? what happened?

  • No, the dog is in good health

  • Wow. that was pretty good... Did the dog actually die?

  • Nice use of the music.

  • cool

  • very good vid great job.

  • dude do you no why my videos are not in high quality

    its hella gay =/

oh and im going to make a video on how good your account is

  • Thanks man! I appreciate it.

But as for quality: You need to render your videos higher than 320x280 resolution and the "high quality" will show up.

  • omg u made my day

  • cute perro, what kind?

  • He's pretty much a mix of lots of breeds, primarily a Feist Terrier, but usually feists are much smaller.

  • You can check my page to see my soon to be top 10. I enjoyed this video quite much and I think you will be pleased to see its position.

  • wow. Thanks a ton!

It definitely means a lot to us, so thank you.

  • lol funny vid even tho its sad "im not a nice guy" nice cam u very steady and accurate

  • Did you guys use one of those single handed 'steadi-cam=lite' type getups where you put the camera on top of a sort of swaying bobblehead you have to try and control from a handle below?

It takes FOREVER getting used to them. I never quite feel comfortable enough when behind the wheel of one.

..that is, if you ARE using one. But I'm almost CERTAIN you are, the way it sways when you're not moving, and the way it looks rather steady if you're running alongside a moving subject. Otherwise...

  • We built a $8 homemade steadicam. It doesn't have a swivel handle or anything, only two counterweights.

I made a test video, and my friend Ben1257sb made a tutorial on how to make them.

  • reminded me of my last dog Cory, he always wandered around looking for friends because our other dogs always attacked him, he died 2 years ago :(

  • :'(

  • Curiosity: What name was he shouting?

  • He shouted "Yogi" accidentally the first time, then the rest he was shouting "Buddy".

  • nice vid

  • it makes me feel sad :( very nice vid

  • Impressive. Very good contrastning colors from the black and white to the bright red shirt. The lighting on the grave was interesting because the light would shine and then receed. Very well done

  • Thanks man. I noticed you favorited Ben's video "The Letter". Gotta ask... which one do you think is better?

  • Art is showing ere

  • weary good

  • very good job:)

  • Wow, looks like their isn't much negative here. So thats good. This is my new favorite.haha

  • bravo! still a huge fan!! good job guys!

  • One of the best short films you've made in my opinion.

    Love the music

  • i can watch this video over and over again and feel the same way every time. this video is amazing in my opinion.

  • wow. Thank you!

  • i forgot to say: One of your best videos by far!

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOO BUDDDDDYYYY!

  • Very well made and very sad

  • nonetheless it was good :)

  • Yeah thanks. I actually think that this is our best film thus far. It is the first one that actually makes the viewer "feel" for the character.

  • exactly. you are part of the film

  • shot at 2:06 you couldn't see his face and the expression on it :/

i loved the flashbacks though. great music choice. it worked well. it was very sad which really brought out the emotion

    nice

  • Thanks.

We literally spent 10 minutes writing, 30 minutes filming, and 30 minutes editing. So not much planning went into shot types and angles, so we just improvised.

  • wow

    that was really powerful

it did what u wanted it 2 do

    very nice

    no homo

    haha

  • that was very good! made me sad :(

  • THAT WAS VERRY GOOOD! AMAZING!!!

What IS The Name Of That Song?

    Great Work!

  • Yiruma - Maybe

  • Great Thanks.

  • excellent! that curled up tail reminds me of a friend's dog, a basinji or something like that. )

  • Great vid...very moving. Loved the black and white for the flashback. Good music that put it all together.

    Keep em coming.

  • the music makes it soo incredible, definitely 5 star caliber.

  • Wow. This is amazing. Thats all I got to say.

  • My favorite one so far.

  • Check out my acting. Thats right.

  • man, you're good at so many styles... this was different, but still effective. good choice of music, but the only thing would be to use some slow motion shots with Yogi running around, or maybe a really close up shot with Bryan's eyes bulging when he sees what happened.

    very good 5/5

  • oh thats a sad video i love it tho keep it up

  • Great Work!

  • that was amazing, but so sad!

    great work!

    :D
