Karrras had stated before that Regan speaking a language she'd never known or studied could be a slight case for possession, but he also thought he'd pull one over on Regan by splashing tap water on her, claiming it to be holy water. But the demon seemed to have one up on Karras, and messed with him instead. :)

Then a light goes off in my head and says oh yea demons like to play pranks and tricks to decieve. Since they are more intelligent than man, more smarter than some people realize.
