If you think this is costly, then why don't our streetlamps have photovoltaics attached to them which could power themselves when it's dark? Because the cost of those things nation wide on every road in the country operating every night and being paid for by tax payers must be a fucking extortionate cost to us. Why not just let the sun power them? And why not remove alternate lamps. Do we really need as many as we have? Could save a freaking fortune.
