I agree that searching to source is what we want the dog to do. I do not agree with letting the dog mouth the odor. Only bad things can come from letting the dog do this. Im not trying to start an argument about this. I am expressing concern for what I see as being a potential training flaw. Hope that I did not bruise any egos. We are working for the same cause - keeping our country safe! God Bless.
to frogman it is the expectation that he does not get paid until he reaches source. dog has to work to source , odor is clue to source if you pay the dog for reaching source everytime in training , in real life scenarios he believes he can reach source no mistake in indication, it works sweet after oral game you work puzzles

Why would you want an oral response as an indication from a detection dog? I can't think of an instance where it would be used.
Certainly a dog searching for narcotics would not use this as an indication. I need some clarification on this please.
