This was a great movie to watch. It is true to the basic premis of what happened. It is highly stylized. That is what Hollywood does unfortunately to make money. Intelligent people that know history wil recognize this.
American history is not immune to this either. Look at Pearl Harbor, Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima. These movies, especially the latter 2 attempt to rewrite history and humanize the Japanese in an effort to gloss over their barbarism during WW2, Batan Death March for example.

Some people seem to have problems to accept that there was a "real" battle of thermopylae, in fact it was two. One in 480 b.c. and a second one in 191 b.c. Romans vs. Antiochus. So, what's that "this is all lies" talking? The movie itself might be doubtable but the facts are there.

Man, dont get so serious about the movie. Its a work of fiction, based on another work of fiction, which is based on real history.
But, of course, as every work of fiction, it take artistic license. Please note, also, that all of the story is told by Dilios, who had rhetorical ability, so its just logical he "adds some literature" here and there.

(story is passed down to generations, a movie is made in the 60s... Frank Miller watches it is inspired and writes the comic, Hollywood makes the 300 based on the comic...
Still you gota love the movie for what it is... and forget historical accuracy...

for god sake, this battle did take place, and they did all die, there werent monster or weird lookin kings, BUT THIS ISN'T THE POINT, this is a movie, a mean of entertainment, and it's based on a graphic novel, and it's entertaining, serves its purpose, and is a breakthrough in movies graphically, so please just because it's from hollywood

Some people seem to have problems to accept that there was a "real" battle of thermopylae, in fact it was two. One in 480 b.c. and a second one in 191 b.c. Romans vs. Antiochus. So, what's that "this is all lies" talking? The movie itself might be doubtable but the facts are there.
