The reason why Inferno will be ridiculously difficult is because of the way D3 is designed. Unlike for example WoW, which started as a very hardcore game and was then nerfed into oblivion due to large influx of morons, Diablo is designed for all tastes. There are four difficulties, casuals can easly finish Normal and see all the content, more persistent casuals may even attempt Nightmare, but that still leaves Hell and Inferno for all true, hardcore gamers, which is why. Blizz has no reason
@FlickWindrunner thats because every other vid you've seen is just a gameplay demonstration or a demo from blizzcon or some part of the beta. all of which are either the very first parts of the game.. or for the demo its made easy so people can jump in and get started.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY want this to be true, but the general trend of video games and even blizzard games leaves me to believe that it won't be that hard, such as SC2 Brutal campaign.
blizz has no reason to make the game particularly soft. any casual can go through normal difficultly, beat the game have fun, and get to see everything. it's entirely a player-driven choice to go to higher difficulties, and the only rewards for doing so come from personal interest. will nightmare be as hard as they imply here? i doubt it honestly, but it certainly looks like a legit step above normal, and if hell and inferno continue that trend, they'll be great.
@kukulzax17 I whole heartedly expect a significant jump from normal to nightmare and hell, its just a matter of how high the jump is, judging by the trend of other blizzard games (WoW and SC2) they only seem to get easier. The trend they followed in Diablo 2 was fairly solid from the jump in difficulty from nightmare to hell, i hope they implement a similar jump in Diablo 3 is all, although i'm rather doubtful that they will.
@Fayn7 even now, after nerfs, the number of people that have beat heroic ragnaros is pretty slim. they can make stuff hard if they want to... and in d3 since the difficulties are an even more intrinsic part of the gameplay it's fair to assume the hard parts will be hard. normal mode will be easy and fine and sufficient for all the "casuals", and let them "see" the content.
i think that, due to the difficulty ramp being such a major part of diablo, the jumps to NM and H will be big
i hope the jump to INF from H will be ginormous (which i am starting to believe is going to be the case due to jay wilson stating whether or not they were sure if they were going to make people farm H for a while before INF xd)
A MMO can only be as hardcore as a person wants to be a perfectionist (perfect spell timing, perfect movements, perfect w/e). A RTS can only be as hardcore as a person wants to be godly at micromanagement (watch some Koreans play).
D3 is a hack-n-slash RPG. It can only be as hardcore as the game is designed to be. Blizz delivered when we asked for things in WoW/SC2, and in D3 people really want a challenge. I think blizz feels they're overdue on a challenge. they'll deliver :)
press 2 rapidly for "just getting really hard" gay man.. :p

The name of this video is misleading... Nothing in this video got anything to do with Hardcore.
