  • just came here from South Park

  • Timeless!

  • Absolutely the best!

  • loved this song. You can really feel the 'regrets' in this clip

  • Hey guys I did a piano cover of this song posted in the video responses. It would be greatif you could check it out and let me know what you think...maybe even subscribe if you like it? thanks :)

  • Quality!!!!

  • so beautiful!

  • beautiful!

  • Remember the days when everybody came to this video because of south park?

  • Ron Howard singing, "You don't bring me flowers "

  • thats a hell of a microphone

  • I TRUELY LOVE THIS SONG....ONE OF THEE BESTS DUETS EVER

  • I remembered watching this when she caressed his cheek.

  • Can't touch this ! the best female and male singes ever ! Jonathan Livingston Seagull !!!!!!!!!!

  • I love this video, their voices, their chemistry, and Barbra's pantsuit! It was very "70s feminist"... very refreshing...the focus was on the voice, the talent, and not the sex appeal (...even though Barbra did that nude-ish photo w/ Kristofferson for "A Star Is Born"...and wore tight shorts and t-shirt for "Superman"...) Madonna changed everything back to sex appeal...

  • I listen to this and it breaks my heart again. I've "done this" twice. I'd like to think it's "not me" but can't get around the fact...it is Two completely different people and I've screwed it up both times. Damn.

  • Interesting bit of music history.. Originally they both recorded separate versions of the song solo, until a Radio DJ, mixed it together as a duet and it charted.. Then they recorded the duet.

  • streisand wow

  • What a good team.

  • This is still a beautiful song, sung by two of the best ever!!

  • @duffur

    exactly !

  • oh my god what a beautiful song it really touch my hearth now that I am separating from my wife

  • they got it on right after

  • Every couple who is wondering what happened to their love should be forced to listen to this song, then write it out, paint the letters and make a design until they understand the message! Love can die from neglect, this couple are drifting apart. Neither wants to go and yet until they speak the marriage will wither and die!

  • This is the #1 song the week I was born.

  • @petrov32 Me too! I'm guessing you figured that out because of the meme going around FB?

  • You know he was porkin' her at some point. :)

  • You know he was porkin' her at some point. :D

  • loves both of them, and always have.

  • i want flowers... :(

  • What an absolute classic moment! One for the ages!

  • Im a 44 year old mum of three kids, who was brought up on Streisand by my own mum! This is pure class which never, ever get old! Thanks mum I listen to it and enjoy it myself today!!xx

  • שלום

    הזמנת חבר לערוץ

    'אל האמת'' - שמע ישראל

  • A vedio of two of the finest singers of our age singing one of Neil's most beautiful songs. They both recorded the song as a single. Then someone had the brilliant idea of them singing it as a duet. I truely thank him or her for that thought.Together they made the song magical. I'm glad that the Kennedy Center has honored both Neil and Barbara for their achievements.

  • I heard of this song from The Suite Life of Zac and Cody, LOL!

  • I just watched Neil Diamond last night on the Kennedy Center Honors program. I have always been a fan of his music. I just happen to be reading a book about Barbra Streisand and just read the part about this performance. I think this video is very touching.

  • Hello again Hello

  • This song always takes me back to my breakup with my first boyfriend.

  • Streisand, wow, are the curls her natural hair, that is by far her most attractive look.

  • @whatthesense It's permed.

  • ugly shit!

  • Just beautiful :)

  • I DON'T BRING ME 20 DOLLARS

  • racist!!!

  • paused south park s14e06 to listen to this song.. sounds better on south park :)

  • 1996 croke park dublin

  • The chemistry between them in this song is that of two lovers who have remained friends. It is a beautiful song, although a sad topic, and excellently done by them. I adore Neil Diamond and always have and I even think Barbara is quite pretty.

  • 60 people don't get flowers anymore.

  • Neil can just talk and he would sound like he is singing.

  • @TheJetbus Barbara 'ain't too shabby either!

  • @TheJetbus totally agree mate

  • @TheJetbus

    yessssssssssss

  • Babs's hair is 'avin' it!

  • Perfection!

  • Very positive. Bringing down the house means the audience loved it. 2 great performers putting on a great performance and the audience realizes that they just witnessed magic.

  • Ladies and gentlemen, that is called "bringing the house down"

  • @KoolShuz is that positiv?? i dont know these words in german.

but i can understand what you mean

  • Wonderful, top performance from both artists!!!

  • Love that outfit and hair.

  • I remember watching this as a kid and for years after I thought Barbra and Neil were a real couple who broke up before this performance, which is why she put her hand on his face @ 2:59.

  • Oh This one is wonderful, Thank you

  • This is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard, and I've never heard it more beautifully performed. Who's got the tissues?

  • i prefer the Slim Whitman/Streisand version on SCTV

  • Nice pant suit.

  • Just 17 when this magic happened, they don't make it like this anymore. Ohhhh his eyes!!!

  • A fantastic and memorable rendering of the popular song.

    Two masters at their best.

It is pathetic to see the crap sold to the public today as "popular music," and to see how much we have lost.

  • A love duet that will never be forgotten. Many lovers will fall in love again listening to this melody of eternal love. Thanks for posting.

  • I LOVE THIS! Very Few Words Needed! viewpoints7

  • One of the best duets I've ever heard...

  • @iesviladeg And just think, being that they're both Jewish American Superstars, which is a good thing, this duet was a kosher one at that. I wonder if niel Diamond appreciates Mrs. Streisand's assistance in giving his career a boost; He should.

  • @swanderer101 nicely said!

  • :(

  • i hope this is never me and my husband.i think time passes and we forget after a time what it was like to be new to each other,to discover each other each day.we become so lost in every day crap we dont stop to look at our lives together much less say i love you.ive been guilty,i know it,and so has he.if anyone out there sees this stop and just hold each other for a few minutes.just say hello to each other.please.

  • 60 people don't bring me flowers

  • As i remember, this was from the Grammy awards back when it was a great show with a surprise performance like this every year. Now it's nothing but a lot of crap.

  • Beautiful. I remember seeing this when it happened.

  • WOW! MY FAVORITE! viewpoints7!

  • How can anybody dislike this video? I feel goosebumps on my arms whenever I listen to this song - and I'm not normally a Barbara Streisand fan.

  • @Gem6519 I totally agree with you hon, I love this song. An amazing performance.

  • hell yeah....awesome....but ohhhh so sad...i can relate from past lover

  • this song is magic, love, makes reliving the memories of love I love you forever

  • He aprendido a reír y yo aprendí a llorar

Bueno, he aprendido a amar Incluso aprendí a mentir

Así que uno pensaría que podría aprender cómo decirte adiós

Porque no dices que me necesitas

No me cantan canciones de amor

Usted no me traes flores más ...

  • You don't bring me flowers You don't sing me love songs You hardly talk to me anymore When you come through that door at the end of the day... I remember when you couldn't wait to love me Used to hate to leave me Now after loving me late at night When it's good for you And you're feeling all right Well, you just roll over and turn out the light And you don't bring me flowers anymore
  • when will this become available on itunes?

  • dont take love for granted love song very touching

  • They're like the perfect couple! from a fellow jew.

  • You can find this version on Barbra Streisand's "Just For The Record" box set, for those that are interested...

    Great up!

  • I'm speechless. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • WOW! The perfect marriage of art and life woven together with powerful emotion. You can even see it in both of them as they are singing this. This is classic. The crowd gets it too. If you are moved by this, you must be dead.

  • He pedido a mis hijas que escuchen el bello sonido de estas canciones, tristes, llenas de nostalgia y sentimiento

  • OMG This is a song that gets to me. I couldn't get it out of my mind the last few day and I had to find it. I didn't remember who sang it. but kept singing it.

  • Is This the 70's or the 80's???

  • @XtinaMimiLover14: late 70's, recorded with barbara 1978.

  • I think I would just turn into "buttah"! Neil's so smooth!

  • Is that all I have to do is buy her flowers.

  • This is how you do a duet... Brilliant

  • @Dana888dana me too! those were the times to be young.

  • This is one of the greatest performances I have ever seen of one of the saddest most beautiful songs ever written. No one in the 'music" industry today has the class or talent to come anywhere close to it, and I was barely even born when this originally aired. My old man used to say Neil Diamond knew how to "put a song over". Watching this, I know what he meant. Show this to your kids. Amazing. I'm a 35 year old happily married man in floods of tears...

  • @Dibble33 I'm a 41 year old man and remember being about 7 or 8 whent his song hit the ariwaves. It always moved me. Even as a child, I knew something very unhappy had happened between these two people. You are correct, now-a-days there is just no comparison. Prince, in my opinion, was the last really great aritist.

  • @Dibble33 Two of the greatest artists ever. Been married nearly as long as you have lived and it chokes me too man. I know where you are coming from

  • @Dibble33 Agree totally. Go and see him with Shirley Bassey in "Play Me". It's brilliant. Oh, and I'm 61 not 35 :-D

  • Comment removed

  • Both Jewish I proudly note.

  • @youtoobaah good for you

  • @youtoobaah racist!

  • @youtoobaah Both wonderful performers that share the stage and an incredible way, both amazing Honors of the Kennedy Center for the arts. That it is all you should say... your comment is separatist and racist, what a pity

  • @iREBOUNDpro I agree with you! That was a stupid comment!

  • @Nevermore1953 the most important thing is that they are two wonderful artist performing, who cares if they are American, Russian or whatever. We need to start uniting and not separating by any means. Would you support them if there were from Palestine? well we all should. Let's move on and unite our world.

  • @iREBOUNDpro Are you saying we should all become one blob bland person? When I go to Europe, I don't want to meet Europeans. I want to meet Italians and British and French and Germans and Greeks. Half of Barbara's charm is her Jewish humor. America used to be charming for its Midwesterns, Southerners, New Yorker, New Englanders, etc. We are getting now to be all the same and that's no fun.

  • @youtoobaah of course you are right, otherwise the world would be really boring :)

  • @iREBOUNDpro Agreed! I am not a hateful person! I don't really care where you are from as long as you are a peacelover!

  • @Nevermore1953 I am sure you are not a hateful person. Unfortunately we have a bunch idiots in this world that are pretty much brainless. One of my mentors (Should I say Jewish too) :) Albert Einstein said once: "There are two infinite things, space and human stupidity...and I am not sure about the first one"

  • @iREBOUNDpro How here we are in complete agreement! :-)

  • @iREBOUNDpro It's not racist in any negative sense. It's just pride. Can Italians not be proud of Al Pacino, Mexicans of Fernando Valenzuela, or Blacks of Barak Obama? Furthermore, Jews hear lots of hostility. I'd like all you gentiles to know that we have many talented people that have brought good to the world, people you love.

  • @youtoobaah oops, I posted my reply somewhere :) I understand pride and I agree and even though I am catholic I hate hostility against Jews or anyone. The problem I see is that often pride turns into hate, hate turns into violence. Jewish artists? thousands super talented... all amazing but my problem is just that I am afraid of divisions in a world that today needs more than ever to be united. That's it

  • Wooow, Nice check out my covers as wel :)

  • Oh my watching that video just brings tears to my eyes, what a song what a video, so beautiful

  • i missed when this origionally aired; i am very grateful to you tube! thanks!!!!

  • Awesome....

  • I seam to listen "September Morn" when Neil Diamond sings

    anyway...

    Great voices

  • omg ^_^ I'm tingling

  • I think the beeb will outlast hillary duff

  • Lovely.

  • I love the size of the microphones.

  • The last part of time when Men were Men and Women were Women.....

  • @dprague Damn, I thought I was the only one who thought like this.

  • Wow, I have goose pimples everywhere, what a timeless performance.

  • Why don't we have songs like this anymore?

  • @Bellamonacita The simple answer is there is no intelligence "out there" and couple that with lack of talent and all of "us" are fucked...pardon my "french".

  • @Bellamonacita We do. Do you think Justin Bieber is just a fad?

  • @somewhatlongdong Juastin make me laugh...

  • why god why I cant just reveal myself and BE A SINGER .. :'( I have told i have barbra's voice and I am not doing anything :(

  • one of the saddest songs ever...

so you'd think I could learn how to tell you goodbye.

  • one of the saddest songs ever...

  • What the hell is this?

  • This brings me to tears...simple and so beautiful!!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • Wow, two power house voices right here. Lord, Neil Diamond brings me to tears. Coming to America is my favorite from him. Love 'em both, though.

  • The more I look at this, Neil is speak singing, and in return Barbra is scream singing, and it is kind of funny. Still, love it though. i recall this when it came on live. The audience went nuts.

  • Still, I adore Barbra and LOVE her voice. The schmaltz part where she says "Well, you just roll over and turn out the lights" should have been sung legit like the rest of the song, as a ballad.

  • Barbra was very nervous and I think Neil calmed her down a bit.

  • I love barbra, but Neil had the suaveness and better singing, as he just speaks it while Barbra is doing all these high vocals. Neil is just a smooth singer.

  • Ugh, those pants Barbara is wearing!

  • zwei geniale Musiker ...

  • Most Barbra Streisand fans will most likely also enjoy Shirley Bassey's 1972 live performance of one of her hits, 'Till' - Pls, no comparisons intended. Stresisand and Bassey sing differently, have different vocal pitch and musical style. But, the one thing they have in common is a powerful voice, and I think Barbra fans will enjoy this vintage song performed so many years ago.

  • self absorbed woamn with a bad haircut... 5k for a concert ticket gimme a break .

  • anad I cry every time I watch this....

  • fantastic loved it many thanks for posting

  • What event was it? I loved this song, but never saw it performed live.

  • Beautiful!

  • A kind of song that stays in our hearts and see ourselves in it.

  • There were lines when Neil half sang, half talked. I would think that in a live show like this, he'd bring his full game. Streisand, on the other hand, gave it everything she had.

  • It doesn't get any better than this!!!

  • It's a great song...... sad to say it's the truth about so many relationships today.

  • @yocuzz100 im just into a new relationship and im damn sure im gonna do all i can to make sure mine doesnt go that way

  • @m8odm Great for you & best wishes!!! Give it your all!!

  • I remember loving this song years ago. Seeing this video makes me love it all over again. They are so good together. Great song. Great video.

  • I get goosebumps every time I hear this song! Nowadays, they don't make songs like this & they don't have singers of this caliber to sing songs like this anymore.

  • Few people know, Neil is fueled creatively by his intense hatred for immigrants.

  • @clipboardcrotch his family was immigrants.... he's a 2nsgeneration Polish-jewish American...

  • @jnfan2011 I was hoping someone without a sense of humor would respond. Thank You jnf2011.

  • @clipboardcrotch I'LL SMACK YOU IN THE MOUTH I'M NEIL DIAMOND!!

  • Love this song!

  • Schitterend!

  • This is how a ballad is supposed to be sung!

  • This performance defines timeless. Look at the interaction of these two. What a performance, what a song. Thank you for this post. And, to get a standing ovation back then from your peers--that speaks volumes.

  • Maybe he doesn't bring her flowers anymore because of her bad perm! LOL!

Seriously, I recall seeing this on live TV and being absolutely mesmerized. I no longer watch these music award shows due to the crappy music they have today. Just glad I'm old enough to know what real music is!

  • @Dana888dana

Well put. You're right, the tripe that is on these days is an insult to the Great singer/song writers of the past.

What a heart breaking song to listen to if your realtionship was near an end. Classic!

  • Two of the greatest entertainers of the last half of the 20th century. They define classy.
