@zerocker45 Anything starting from 14,5mm HMG can destroy such vehicles, it's no match for the power of a single 122mm HE rocket. The point is that the rocket have to touch the vehicle. You may not go into an artillery barrage, whatever vehicle you are in, whatever the power of said barrage. Even MBT's can be heavilly damaged by BM21 rockets.

@SteelScream88 It helps to reduce the size of the tank turret. It's part of their design philosophy which is to make a tank as hard as possible to hit. Smaller equals better mobility and it's easier to hide. An autoloader has the drawback of a lower rate of fire and a chance of mechanical break downs but then having time before you're acquired and facing retaliation is a godsend in a battle.

British troop were pinned down and called in air strikes against the Argentinian artillery position. I do not think that everything is so simple. USA and Soviet armies never fought directly. The U.S. has always fielded ground forces against a weakened enemy in every way. With regard to part-time technical victory: M1 has (arguably) the best fire control system but the Russian arm is longer because of staffing equipping the tank with antitank rockets.

@Chester8831 I know Russia has tradionally had the numerical advantage over the U.S. especially up until recently. The U.S. now has the numerical superiority in most front line equipment areas. The most crucial area of any military force though is logistical support and hands down the U.S. trumps the Russian military in logistics.

@MiG359NTF the M1A2 is proven in combat, i dont think the Leapord 2 A6 has gone up against enemy armor, which is why you have to give the edge to the Abrams, the F-15 is another example, it has i believe the highest Kill Death ratio out of any modern fighter, the SU-27 is another example of a great fighter with 0 combat experience, you cannot compare an un proven fighter to a fighter with the best K/D of the modern Jet age. The F-22 was canceled but ther are 185 produced and in service.

@SteelScream88 It helps to reduce the size of the tank turret. It's part of their design philosophy which is to make a tank as hard as possible to hit. Smaller equals better mobility and it's easier to hide. An autoloader has the drawback of a lower rate of fire and a chance of mechanical break downs but then having time before you're acquired and facing retaliation is a godsend in a battle.

@MrSuprisebitch Did I miss something? NATO and USSR went to war? US has never faced Su-27, MiG-31, S-300 etc. US hasn't gone against state of the art equipment in a looong time. Last time they partially fought against state of the art hardware was in Korea and Vietnam and should I remind you that top aces of those wars weren't flying American aircrafts. Bombing tiny Yugoslavia for many months (who had hardware from 60s-70s and was terribly outnumbered) isn't the same as going against Russia.

@EAmaster123 Artillery isn't very useful these days with fighter/bomber jets roaming the skies. The Argentinian army learn the hard way. British troop were pinned down and called in air strikes against the Argentinian artillery position. It took a short a period of time for the British harriers to spot and effectively destroy the artillery battery. Missiles are more superior than howitzers now. Though only few superpowers had those that can hit moving targets like tanks, APC, and transport.

@patrikasLTL USA have the best SAM actually. That why the Soviet decide to use ICBM against the US and no longer heavy bombers. While US had the chose of two. Soviet air power superior was cut greatly in Afghanistan. Afghan fighters with stingers made it difficult for Soviet air support to conduct low flying. While in Vietnam US still had air control even though the NVA had large SAMs and Soviet MiGs. US SAMs don't often come to play due to its air force effectiveness of defending its troop.

in afghanistan every guerilla squad had a short-range stinger. In vietnam they used the first 1950s SAMs in history such as the SA-1 and SA-2, with missiles up to 40 feet in lenght designed to down high-flying, essentially non-maneuvering, strategic bombers. Yeah, migs. In Korea US pilots would down 3 korean migs for one plane of theirs. Nevertheless, the most kills ever claimed in jet fighter dogfights was 21 by Nikolai Sutyagin- guiness book of world records. Stats: Patriot < S-300

@patrikasLTL No. The 3:1 ratio is in Vietnam when US pilots depend too much on their missiles and less on maneuvering tactics. In Korea US had a 12:1 ratio. With WW2 pilots and the equal Saber, American outmatch N Korean MiG-15 pilots and most of the time Soviet pilots. Also, the patriot is design to knock out missiles not aircraft. US air defense had better SAMs but its not going to talk about it to the media.

@hockeyfreakboy99 In the Korean war The MiG-15 raped allied figthers and bombers until the Americans put in the F-86 with WW2 veterans in the cockpit, it killed more than 800 MiG-15's and lost a little more than 80. That gives the F-86 a 10-1 kill ratio against the MiG-15. On paper the MiG-15 is best. But in the Korean war, pilot skill made the diffrence. So maybe the best pilots were russian. But the average proved to the americans.

@gadget445 So for a battery of 6 guns the rate of fire ranges from 36 to 48 rounds of "I think those guys suck" per minute? Wow, that is brutal. Based on a quick search the 152 mm gun has a range of 22 Km as well. Sounds pretty effective.
