  • Sun spots and solar energy systems--does all this solar activity create any kind of risk of overloading a solar energy system?

  • The video is real people. Net meter replaces the standard meter as soon as the utility gets around to it, normally within a few weeks of solar install. The net meter is a better deal for the utility company because when you sell excess electric back to them it keeps track. The reason they don't leave your standard meter is because when you sell them electric they pay you much less than they charge you. Only way to keep track is with a net meter. That is why your standard meter is pulled.

  • How much cost of solar?

  • You guys that think this was faked should take a swim in the Gulf.

  • my area still has mostly analog, except for new homes

GRACAIS!!!

  • show me a shot of the meter running backwards at the same time you show a stop watch or normal clock with a second hand running forwards...how do we know you didn't just reverse this footage? I can show you a vid of the sun rising in the west and setting in the east....LOL

  • I never thought of running the footage in reverse, that would be a good way to make a fake for sure. but no, this is real. The sad thing is my utility company took this meter out and replaced it with a digital one. one that recordes what you "buy" and what you "sell". So sorry I can't re-do the video any more. But those zero electrical bills with the A/C on full prove it for me!

  • How much does it cost to make your whole house solor powered?

  • If you look right around the 0:20 Mark you can see it moving forward for a bit when I was using more then generating, then it reverses as the sun came out. Maybe that proves it!

  • aw man I miss those old rotary meters! all the ones here are boring digital ones now :(

  • I have a digital meter how can I slow it down???

  • um, the same way you slow down a mechanical one

  • @Sunray2live most digital meters have NO adjustment for calibration to speed or slow down meter as its calibration is done at factory, and flipping upside down it will still run fwd and will record how many times it has been tampered with ie power outages if removed. net meters exempt as they run fwd and bkwds.

  • @battleship62 solar equipt installers have left these digital meters installed as net meters and dont realize this so when pwr is recieved by customer frm pwr co the meter reads fwd . plus the pwr generated by solar also reads fwd becouse the meter sees it as pwr used. the customer gets charged for pwr produced by solar. I have changed many digital meters for this reason.

  • Add a small wind turbine to your system and post a vid of your meter (on a similar day) please, Good job

  • I would have to say that this is my favorite "meter video". I like how you can see the change in the speed of the disc when the clouds move.

  • That's not spinning backwards.

  • LOL!

  • yes it is...if you have a rotary one, go outside and look at your meter. Should be spinning counter clockwise

  • There's nothing illegal about net metering.

Most of the hydro companies here in Canada have deployed such programmes for the past few years. I also have a friend in California who has a similar set up with PG&E which has been up and running since 2003.

As long as your utility has checked out your setup, you're good to go. There's a list of all "grid-tied" addresses so they'll know if a line has power on it from another source other than another substation or xformer.

  • That is illegal to do for most electric companies. The metering equipment belongs to the electric company. When you have this setup it creates backfeed and endangers the lives of people working on the power. I don't know your situation, but as an employee of an electric company, I'm hoping that people ask there electric provider before they attempt anything. I know that we do not allow this type of setup.

  • Yes you are correct if you just hook it up. To be legal you have to contact the utility company for approvals, inspection, etc.. I'm legal. Look up "Net metering" at the office, I'm sure someone will be able to point you in the right direction. Thanks for the comment.

  • @ChrisShort dude you are funny, you obviously dont know what technology is out there today.

  • @ChrisShort this is not illegal fuck. I produce my energy, for my home the company has nothing to do with it. fuck illuminati laws.

  • @99XM It is illegal if you are using the electric company's meter to backfeed onto the system without their knowledge. If you want to produce your own electric, have at it. Get yourself off the grid. However if you are using the company's equipment in a way that creates hazardous situations that are not approved methods, then you are in the wrong.

  • @ChrisShort The person in this video has obviously taken the proper steps with their electric provider. My position from the beginning has been that you can't just hook anything you want up without doing it properly and informing the electric provider.

  • @ChrisShort its not hazardous the low production.

THEY DO THE PRICE AND PUT THE TAXES THEY WANT, ILLUMINATI IS WORST THEN MAFIA, AND ARE IN THE USA PARLAMENT.

  • @99XM A transformer is a dumb piece of machinery. If you are not connected properly then the backfeed you send through the transformer converts the power from 120/240 to 5400 or 7200 depending on the transformer size...

  • are you going to show your system?

  • i am into solar..but what makes the meter go backwards?

  • When the Solar PV system generates more power then the house is using, it "pushes" out to the grid. In turn the electric meter turns the other direction because current flow is now in the opposit direction.

  • 57K. Less a 38K rebate from the NJ BPU. SREC's pay it off over the years, so in 8 years the thing is 100% free, plus no more electric bill, ever!

  • how did you do that can i buy that device from you?? i m from philippines and i want to know how did you do that ?????

  • how much did the whole setup cost? send me a message, i'd like to know

  • You dick! I want this!!!
