I think benchmarking is where they run a game on maxed out settings on PC and see how well it performs with certain hardware, graphics card/s, processors, memory etc , to determine how many FPS they can get get and whether the FPS remains relatively consistent throught the game. Benchmarking for this reason doesn't really apply to consoles.
