@SamuraiSwoosh sorry but handchecking was eliminated only in the backcourt against the ball handler from the out of bounds line to the opposite end foul line. Handchecking remained off the ball and in the halfcourt inside the 3pt line. Get your facts straight
I also acknoledge that teams back in the 80s would routinely score a 120-130 points but that doesn't mean that they didn't play any d...like u said defense(and rough play, intimidation etc) became the emphasis when the Pistons won those two chips usisng that style...
And also he said these guys weren't the nicest persons but he respected them as competitors cuz in the end of the day they got a couple of those rings...
Yeah...that's true...but I have a Magic Johnson autobiography called "My life" and he says that in the 1984 finals the refs musta decided that they were gonna allow the eastern conference style of ball, which even back then was rougher. And also he said that when he got into the NBA the game was far more physical than the college's one.But later on in the book when he referred to the Pistons he said that there's a place for the rough stuff in the NBA but these guys were far worse.TheyWereVicious
U r right about that. But dont forget that bigs were still allowed to be under the basket. And the Lakers wasn't the only run n gun team. The whole western conference was like that also.I wouldn't exactly little defense.Cuz the whole eastern conference was tough on d and walk-it-up type of bball.Especially Boston. The Sixers were probably the only team in the eastern conference that could break Maurice Cheeks leading it and with Dr J and Bobby Jones (and later on Sir Charles) filling the lanes...
Hey forEmily...thanx 4 the upload but I woulda loved to see more Toni Kukoc highlights from this game...I mean he scored 34 after all...and who's Emily? Is she your girlfriend, wife or what?
People that say that have no idea of what type of defense MJ and other superstars from the 80s and 90s had to go up against...hand checking minus 3 seconds defensive rule=the toughest defensive era in basketball...
He was just unbelievably good. It's crazy how good he was. I laugh when people think anyone today measures up to him - and he was 33 years old here. Thanks for uploading games again, FE23.
And he did that against the toughest defensive era of all time!3 defensive rules + handchecking + Pistons + Knicks = best defensive era of all time and no blood, no foul...I remember one guy telling me that Jordan's competition was weak blah blah blah and I was like r u on drugs or something? MJ went almost against half of the top 50 greatest players of all time and some others that deserved to be there like Nique and probably Reggie Miller. The weirdest part was that he told me he was an adult!
man you got one of the greatest channel on youtube ForEmily23, this video brought back so much memories of the 90s Bulls, thx for the wonderful upload mate :)

I know this is an MJ vid, but the ball handling and passing of a 6'11 guy like Kuloc @ 1:15 is a thing of beauty.
He would have been awesome in the 80's with the more open/free flowing style.

As for Toni Kukoc, he did have a killer game. But I don't make Toni Kukoc highlight films :)

Great upload ForEmily23. I remember the Jordan defensive play @ 6:50 from watching the Michael Jordan: Above and Beyond video!
clarkman83 2 years ago
That PG Williams was horrible, some turnovers he shouldnt have.
Pat Riley let 6 guys on the court, I cant believe he ever made this mistake.
And Jordan, they told Jordan to change shorts on bench, just like go back to school again.

Look at how many midrange shots from 15-18 feet he took on the break. They were like layups to him. The best midrange shooter ever along with Bird.

completely agree. people have no idea what they are talking about saying anyone now shoot their mid range better than jordan.
