  • janway should have got chuck norris, wouldnt need nano weapons then

  • Poor, dumb Harry...XD

  • They should make a new Star Trek Voyager series focusing on the other timeline where Janeway didn't go back in time to bring Voyager home.

  • @Hero87 so you want seven of nine to die?

  • @TheStargatefan1000 lol no i guess not

  • @Hero87 hope so

  • i always thought that species 8472 resembled somehow Ridley Scott´s Alien, they´re aggressive, adaptive & have a kind of instinct-based intelligence. maybe the most badass creatures in the Star Trek universe.

i´d like to see them fight some Aliens, that´d be interesting. but i think that´s never gonna happen, as they belong to different franchises.

  • @harpiyon Even Voyager could have defeated those Aliens from Ridley Scott's Alien. Just use the transporter and beam them all away and fire a phaser or two. simple

  • Remind me of the Hur'q and Kam'Jahtae

  • I love 8472

  • I really hated Kes. I'm glad her character died.

  • @squidman22 she didnt die????

  • Qapla!

  • Need the Shadows to show them who is boss ;-)

  • Need the Shadows to show them who is boss ;-)

  • do a barrle rolllll!!!!!! 0:52

  • @borghome No side seat flying Peppy! lol

  • The reason that they don't have seatbelts is that USUALLY the inertial dampeners take care of all that shaking stuff.

Too bad they're as reliable as the stability of the warp core.

  • When my car is spinning on black ice - this is exactly the same way I gain control of it - accelerating away really really fast.

  • 4 shots blow up a whole Borg cube

9 focused shots blow up a whole planet.

And the little Voyager is able to deflect this shot with a primitive shield.

    Made in Germany? o.O

  • @slay444pt the weapons of species 8472 are super effective against the borg not everything else, anyway that shot wasn't a direct hit it slashed the nacelle, and clearly u can see what happened to voy she was damaged an spinning around. people love to criticize voy all the time and forget its science fiction.why not talk about how Enterprise D destroyed a borg cube alone...

  • These aliens suck, they're designed to make Voyager look cool and the Borg look bad.

The borg get toasted by single shots but Voyager is barely injured? yeah right...

  • @Archedgar The Borg got hit by a direct shot, VOY was more a grazing not meant for them.

Typical reaction, can't handle there being even ONE species out there that could fight the Borg.

I bet if this was a TNG episode and they invented the 8472, no one would complain.

  • @Archedgar oh really? lol they have been voted on trek dot com as the best alien race ever, the polls clearly worth more then ur opinion.with 1 minor hit voy lost most of it systems in part but i take it u never watched the show.

  • Scorpion 1 and 2 were definitely the best in Voyager series, well, apart from "Endgame"..

  • Remind me why the ship shakes when it gets hit by a lazer? Lazers are light, they contain no mass, and if they did, it would not affect the ship unless it hit the gravity generators.

  • @u3190 It's an energy blast in the Star Trek Universe lasers are very weak. Lighting has the ability to shake things.

  • The reason (Starfleet) don't have seatbelt on there (starships) is for the same reason Navy ships don't lol

  • @fajner look at Star Trek Nemesis Deleted Scene: "Where noone has gone before" Starfleet took your advice!

  • luv the music!

  • I wonder if there are any real alien out there, if yes, are there any like Species 8472 or the Borg.

  • @Spookssga ... come on we´re in the midle of an vast universe with million galaxies how likely is it that there´re NOT alien races besides us ... they´re either on other galaxies or on other starsystems ... not that we´ll see them so soon ... ... ... who knows ...

  • @MrTBSC wait until april 4, 2063 then say "hello vulcans!"

  • @MegaTitanicboy how bout april 4, 206300 or later

and probably say " hallo quantum torpedo that probably rapes our planet in one shot"

  • 0:46

LOL, you can hear Janeway drop Kes on the floor!

  • Hah, seatbelts? And miss the priceless hand throwing and falling to the floor? My favourite was always when some idiot would flip over his exploding console. Hehe, classic Star Trek. The Original series was the best since you can clearly see them running to one side then the other, still love it though!

  • The alien ship is not pursuing...

No it wouldn't, we've got a can of whoopass waiting in the Alpha Quadrant, his name is PICARD

  • sviđa mi se :))

  • Outstanding, love when they get control of Voyager again and it shifts into warp.

  • Who is this lovely person at 0:40?

  • @TimeGents The actor's name is Jennifer Lien, the character name is Kes.

  • @KangarusGyrfalcon Thank you :) I did not recognize her with her different hairstyle :D

  • Looking for the soundtrack of this episode for quite some time now. This music is only used specificly for this episode and I find it unbelievable you cant find any mention of it anywhere on the web nor the star trek core websites... The soundpart from 0:00 till 0:13 would be highly appreciated in a pure MP3-form.

  • not exactly a dream first contact

  • Species 8472: We can't be assimilated because we're made of fuck you.

  • @MasterAdam100 hehe

  • where would u find the episode of Chakotays date, i.e. species 8472 second contact

  • @spoiltbratt100 Season 5 Episode 4. Although personally it's not an episode I can stand. Prey was a much better follow of the 8472 story.

  • The Borg need to change their tactics. The come across relatively weak humans and adapt themselves to their resistance and win, but they don't adapt to their tactics. Species 8472, meanwhile, is apparently immune to the assimilation process and yet the Borg STILL try to assimilate them. Anyone with a mind should know: Consistency is not always the option.

  • in star trek online these 8472 guys are alot stronger its a good game i recomend it

  • @Loke5788 In ST:O, these guys (also called the Undine because "species 8472" is really awkward to say) are one of the main antagonists along with the Borg, and the writers for the game do a good job of making them seem like a terrible threat to the entire galaxy. It's implied several times that the only reason the Borg haven't wiped out civilization in the Alpha Quadrant is because they are constantly at war with the Undine. The inverse is also true (w/o the Borg, the Undine would take over)

  • Love this episode, why? cos they(Species 8472) defeat the Borg!! the unstopable Borg! as unknown as species 8472 are, still they stop this enemy in their tracks!

  • @GERMANOPHILE Well until Star Trek online in which they are named the Undine. And the Borg do manage to assimilate one Undine. Until you bust in and kill everything.

  • @Saiko47 fuck Star Trek Online. just one more thing that's wrong with it. refer to MasterAdam100's comment at the top as to why.

  • Is it just me, or are 8472 ships a cheap copy of Vorlon ships, both in look and in organic design.

  • "The Weak Shall Perish."

  • If energy weapons don't work on Species 8472, then why don't people use solid shot kinetic weapons like a coilgun or similar. Tri-hecular DNA and their immune systems shouldn't stand a chance with a huge metal shell ripping through them.

  • @TheLegolasguy And DS9 had an ep where an assassin was killing people with a rifle that fired titanium bullets where the rifle could transport the bullet (velocity and all) to just in front of the target. The rifle also let the user see through walls :)

  • @aprillo: they tried, but 8472s immune system just says "errr no" and kills them

  • Man, this makes me wanna BE species 8472! Can you imagine being so powerful that all you have to do is jump out and give your enemy a couple of love taps to send them packing through space? SWEET!

  • whats the ! next to the speech bubble mean?

  • Does somebody know the soundtrack from the beginning ?

  • The Borg? Pussies had their ass kicked big time.Wankers.

  • Something tells me the borg are going to have a hard time assimilating them.

  • KESS IS SUCH A DRAMA QUEAN

  • Once again::::::::::: NOVABOMB! Have not seen anything more powerful! EVER ! The COMMONWEALTH rules ! ;)

  • Tom Paris...greatest ship controller ever!!!

  • @RichNice30

    "They bravely ran away."

  • The quality is unbelievable.

  • and people wonder why geeks cant get girlfriends

  • Undine...

  • well the bioship was damaged so the beam attack must be weaker than at full strength

  • Oh look, it's a naked Lt. Ariks from the Star Trek animated series.

  • WOW B5 COPY CATS

  • @vigorosoPIMPJr

I thought that, the bioship looks a little bit too much like a Vorlon cruiser to be a coincidence

  • @robblindsay I know totally Vorlon like even the whole Organic tech is a copy of Volrlons and the Shadows.... Star Trek needs a make over for real too bad Gene R. is dead most of his writing was very good... Earth's Final Conflict, Early Star Trek and so forth but these shows are so idk crappy but at least its better then most shows on TV lol Reality crap

  • Voyager's lame shields hold up against the bioship when the borg's cannot?

  • @transdrole have you ever watched that episode? the borg are weak to the biological and chemical weapons that species 8472 use, that are from their own bodies. thats why they resist assimilation...

  • @miloootic understood. But while their ships may be organic, their energy weapon wouldn't be. And remember, the Borg have assimilated starfleet shielding and shield technology from hundreds of other races. It follows that Voyager would do far less well against the energy weapon than a cube, yet we see the weapon pass cube shields on the first hit. Voyager's shields were not passed on a hit. It's a plot device obviously.

  • @transdrole well what you say is verry logical but the thing is that borg vessels dont have shields they use their nanoprobes to repair any damage to their hull . but sp 8472 use bioweapons made from compounds of their own system>which we know is resistant to borg tech...so nanoprobes are easely destroyed ...but i still think they shouldve taken a big hull breach as well, but the directors did show us the ship flippin around lol

  • @miloootic That's incorrect, the Borg on a number of occasions have referred to shields as they're being used on their craft. I agree with transdrole, voyager would have been obliterated from a single shot (yet it took multiple throughout the double episode.) It would have put an abrupt end to the series though. I love the concept of these aliens however.

  • @supermonkey100 the concept of borg shields is verry diffrent of the one we know. they have inner shields and security grids to repel transports and intruders...notice when they fire phasers on a borg ship or a photon torpedo you dont see a buble or any kind of energy field protecting the vessel you just see the impact right to their hull.

  • @miloootic Doesn't really make much difference in my view whether it's an external bubble or otherwise; borg systems are vastly more sophisticated than starfleets. There could be variations in bioship firepower but single shots from those things rip apart huge borg cubes. Take a look at the size of the explosions on and in those two borg cubes at the double episodes opener. The explosions themselves are I'm estimating bigger then voyager itself.

  • @miloootic My point basically being that I doubt the capacity of an intrepid class shield grid (built 4 or so years earlier) would even come close to the energy represented by the damage that was seen inflicted on superior borg vessels.

  • @supermonkey100 Agreed, That beam that hit Voyager before she wen't to Warp should of destroyed her instantly if a single shot can destroy a 3000 Meter long Cube.

  • @NANOFORGE But was 8472's weapon fully charged in those few seconds, or did they 'shoot from the hip' to try and knock voyager around so they'd have time for a second more powerful shot?

  • @KaneinEncanto It was either a weaker shot or the writers went against their own physics yet again. That S8472 Particle beam can blow a Borg Cube up with little difficulty and a Cube is several thousand times most advanced and powerful than Voyager. If they can destroy one of those with ease, Voyager should of been vapourized.

  • @KaneinEncanto Yeah, I agree. It was just a quick, unaimed shot.

  • @miloootic Well the Borg can only assmilate and adapt to frequenices and modulations but that cannot adapt to raw energy which S8472 proved with their particle weapons. Quantum torpedoes use raw zero-point energy which the Borg can't adapt to either. Quantums were designed to fight the Borg, A Quantum would be like a stronger yeild photon to any other ship.

  • In the episode where 8472 took human form and had a good dialog with Janeway, why, WHY did she not ask the NAME OF THEIR SPECIES??!?!?? How simple is that??!?!?

  • @mxrdvr They never formalized relations, that was only an agreed upon cease-fire.

The leader of 8472 even noted his superiors would be angry at this, but he felt he'd win a few over. Voyager left their com frequencies, but that was last they'd heard of Species 8472

  • Species 8472's theme kicks complete ass. Even when you haven't seen them yet, you just hear it and know you're screwed.

  • i was told that they are called the sra'xa'diin

  • I want to see 8472 vs james camerons aliens lol or the predator that would be badass but they would just fuck it up look at AVP

  • now thats how you drift a starship!

  • what happens when it meets species chuck norris

  • @MeIsArtTickYouLet

Or if Yuzahn Vong meets Chuck Norris

  • My favorite episode of Voyager.

  • Not the kind of contact you would want in Star Trek online...........if they have a species 8472

  • Aye, they have Species 8472 in Star Trek Online. Unfortunately, Cryptic took it upon themselves to come up with a name for 8472. They're called the "Undine"

    =\

  • wow voyager flipping

  • they are called the undine.

  • Harry Kim: AAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!1!!

  • remind me why they don't have seatbelts on the ship.

  • @mager56723: They don't have that kind of technology! They're scientists from the future, not magicians!

  • Hahaha yes, I am always asking myself the same question! :D

  • @mager56723 Because IRL, if your ship gets jostled at the velocities they're traveling, everyone on board would be paste anyways.

  • @mager56723 Do you wear seatbelts if you use a train?

  • @argai1978 The trains I take don't go into combat or mount weapons

  • @mager56723 Seatbelts are the wrong solution. They need trapezes to stay off the floor when it shakes.

  • one of the coolest scenes fom 'Scorpion'!

    THX!

  • That Thing still scares me after 7-8 years

  • @Neverlast0

Watch out, dude, it's coming to get you!

  • @ImperatorDerGalaxis Maybe LOL

  • I know they are well creepy but yet cool

  • Yeah

  • Then come play the new Star Trek Online, there in it and the main threat, they even started the war between the federation and klingon empire :)

  • Paris and his flying is so kick ass lol that boy has skills lol.. but i dont understand why voyager was fighting 8472 if voyager would have just joined forces with them the borg would be history the borg were running for there lives lol haha i thought that shit was funny as hell We or the Borg well were 8472

  • 0:55 starfleet HAS to install seatbelts

  • @fajner1 I'm geek enough to have read many Star Trek Novels... From what I've read (and I don't think this makes much sense either), they don't have seat belts or restraints in order to transfer personnel from one com/status screen/station during emergency situations. Still, with the technological progress we are showing (in some fields) I predict holographic & bio-electric user interface modules for the future. Umm... Anyway, Go Star Trek!!

  • @fajner1 I hear "can't hit me!" wtf?

  • Why don't you look at the air date of this episode before running your mouth about the CGI.

  • thats one hel of a first contact

  • The only canon in Star Trek is what is seen in the TV series and movies. Novels and other stories, although interesting, are not Star Trek canon.

  • It is very likely that given their technology they have eradicated their enemies completely. And it is a bioship, maybe the weapon is just an immune response that is very powerful. Perhaps they did not design the "ship" maybe they have a symbiotic relationship with it. In that case, they never created the weapon at all.

  • The only Trek alien race that looked even remotely how an alien should, instead of just a bumpy headed human. I always loved these guys. :)

  • What about Gorn? 8D

  • well from what i understand its just a tv show, so stop over thinking it and get laid.

  • YOUR MUM!

  • "The weak shall parish."

    Species 8472

  • the soundtrack for this arc was epic.

  • Just to show that there is always a bigger fish in the pond.

  • This is the most deadliest Trek villain of all.

  • Why did it never occur to the Starfleet guys to fire phasers before the beastie attacked?

  • I used to love the borg before something better caught my eye...SPECIES 8472!!!

  • I got the whole series boxset(im on season 4)so from where I am now one on voyager likes janeway.

  • I love 8472 but unfortunately my nature prevents me from expressing pity in the episode prey.Although 7 of 9 is hot she was a bitch to give 8472 over to the dogs of hirogen.I agree with onxy081 in saying star trek makes them humainoid a liitle two much.I love SPEICIES 8472.

  • I really like species 8472 because they are so unlike the other aliens in the ST universe. I like the fact that they actually look really alien. Star Trek unfortunately has gotten into this whole thing where they throw a few ridges on someone's forehead and voila, your an alien. I know the whole Star Trek next generation explanation about alien humanoids, I just think that's so boring.

  • 8472 must be damn strong. Hell they're so mysterious they haven't even got a proper name, and Starfleet has to resort to using Borg Designations. And indicating where they come from, I would guess 8472 are only a fraction of the power other species in their area have. I mean, one blast from the Bioship and Voyager is sent twirling. Even the Borg are scared of these bad motherfuckers.

  • how sadly underused this race was

  • Definitely underused and a little bit under developed. I think Species 8472 are a great concept in terms of their physiology and technology, but the whole fluidic space concept is ridiculous. A universe with no stars, planets or any other alien species seems kind of lame. If they live in a realm by themselves where would they get the motivation to evolve into such an advanced species? If you live in a realm by yourself why would you even need ships capable of blowing up planets?

  • They may have lived alone, but once they realized they weren't, they evolved weapons... or they simply had civil wars... or they weren't ALWAYS alone, at some point. Life develops variations like that.

  • From what I understand, they never left their realm before the Borg invaded it. Also, If they're supposed to live in a liquid universe, how are they able to survive in ours? If they're the only lifeform there as I read from the Trek pages, why would they have developed such advanced bio-defenses? Ships that blow up planets when they have no planets? If they're the ONLY lifeforms there, they wouldn't need to hunt other lifeforms, they would never even have developed intelligence.

  • Who's to say they explored all of their fluidic space? Maybe they had "just-in-case" weaponry, or they used to be at war with each other in the distant past. Ya never know.

  • Was it not stated in the show that no other beings live there? Who develops just-in-case weapons when they're no other beings to threaten you? One of the most interesting things about evolution is that the pace of evolutionary change picks up in the face of adversity. The more hostile the environment, the faster the wheels of evolution roll and the quicker we adapt. What adversity has Species 8472 encountered to evolve to where they are now? None.

  • As I said, I kind of doubt they explored ALL of their space already - I mean, some people claim there's no other life aside that on Earth, yet we can't say so for certain.

And as also example-ified, there could have been a war between members of "Species 8472", after all...

  • Well it's stated that they are the only beings there. If there are other beings living there, one would think that with they're advance tech they would have encountered them at some point. As for a possible civil war between them, I'm basing my views purely on canon, not what ifs. BTW I actually like Species 8472. I just think they're some things that don't make sense about them that need to be explained.

  • Gotta love Captain Janeway. ;)

  • KILL EM ALL SHEEBA!

  • They are just trying to protect their own space, and when the borg opend a gate to their univerce they saw a resson to conquer our univerce

  • Well, not per se, actually. They had been attacked by the Borg, or rather, invaded. Voyager helped developing a weapon against them for the Borg in exchange for safe passage through Borg space. Later on, the crew of Voyager and Species 8472 came to a sort of understanding, however, it seems...

  • Well kinda. I did say that in was a retaliation from the borg, species 8472 were attacked and thought the humans were allies with the borg.

You sorta right they kinda came to an understanding, however they could not promise anything and that the fued would most likely continue. As well as the fake federation that they created, also pretending to be humans, but your kinda right.

  • Pretty much. Bare in mind this attack was in retailiation to the borg, who thought they could assimilate them.

So much so the borg accept the help from janeway

  • they are the biggest enemies of human and borg race

  • that warp jump is soo cool

  • If the whole S8472 technology is based on living cells, why did the Borg never try to freeze a ship with liquid nitrogen, capturing some creatures long enough to find a way of assimilation?

  • they probably don't have freezing technology, they only want to assimilate.

  • They are one of the most intelligent beings in the Star trek universe....so they should have some freezing technology.

Liquid nitrogen would stop the metabolism, making the toxic dna harmless and all the biotechnology pretty useless. Then they could use a tractor beam to capture a ship and find the weak spot of S 8472.

  • Well, then again... bio ships seem to be pretty capable of "surviving" in the coldness of space, which IS freezingly cold already.

  • what alien is it in 0:20 ?

  • en wikipedia org/wiki/Species_8472

  • AWESOME!

the best bits of voyager are these:

    3-26, 4-1, 4-2 and 4-14, 4-15 and 4-16.

trust me, i watched the WHOLE 7 series a few years back..

  • I love how they go to warp in this episode, its frikkin sweet.

  • man, harry kim is a pussy

  • A beautiful, smexy, sensitive pussy.

  • piss off

  • This was the last episode before the unstoppable borg motif went south. It was cool because when they mentioned the borg in this episode (and the ones before it) you could see the fear in everyone's face. Now its just a half-assed "oh great, the borg are here" type of reaction. Nobody takes them seriously anymore (even in star trek: nemesis, Shinzon was just making light of the Borg like they were nothing: "What is it your borg friends say? "resistance is futile?")

  • Maybe they should have assimilated ONE with his 29th century technology. Voyager would've ended a few seasons early, but eh...

  • i completely agree up to hear mention of the borg was like hell no where fucked they were seen as an all powerfull species facing the borg was almosat certain death and after it just became well we defeated the borg already more then once we can do it again o no borg ..

  • oh he got beamed it looks like he got poofeed

  • that poor yellowjacket that got neutralized

  • his name is harry kim ;)

  • 1:06 Best warp jump ever!

  • lol they stole those organic ship from the shadows in babylon 5

  • can you show me with some images?
