  • In the end, it's all about pictures you've taken and the stories comes out from it. The stronger the story is, the better the picture would become IMO. I'd rather see pictures about babies expressions with a grainy film camera than a tack sharp sleeping flamingos taken with 70-300mm L-lens

  • i just checked more comperisons and ok im giving u back the respect canon is much worse in ISO ;)

  • i dont know how the DXOMark is compering the cameras but i saw images compeared between entry level from canon 550 and sony alpha a580 ;) heheh sory but canon take the edge in RAW iso noise , the sony is better only in Jpeg as is reducing to much noise which effect in detail on the picture ! come on funny DXOMark saying that sony alpho beat even canon 7D ? hehehhe im not canon funboy but go and check some test made with sony alpha a 580 and check some reviews;)

  • i was becoming a fan of sony's cameras, but now, i hear that sony is abandoning dslr's for the transluscent mirror thing. i think that the slt cameras is garbage. sony is making a big mistake not continuing with dslr's.

  • @MrMegabucks15 I felt the same way until I tried a77 the other day

  • @MrMegabucks15 .I completely agree with you. I bought the Sony A500. I love it. But I believe slt cameras are not good. I do not buy more sony lenses because makes no sense to buy expensive lenses just for a DSLR camera knowing full well the DSLR line is being abandoned.

  • canon glass has been anything but impressive but i do find them to make great camera bodies you can get much better glass for any camera from companies like sigma and tamron for much cheaper

  • canon still sells more cameras than all other companys combined---but they need to get theyre ass in gear because the compition is trying hard to stomp them

  • I still prefer Canon

  • man, I want a sony now

  • and for video????? is the sony a full manual control dslr???

  • @ajdin25de Did you know a dslr is made to TAKE PICTURES? -.-

  • i say #1 problem with sony is they remind me of the class nerd does everything better than everyone else but is in no way visually pleasing and nobody knows or cares they exist so no one wants them:o

  • Not true anymore. Sony has the new G line that has been out performing competitors. And also it offers great Minolta lenses that are compatible with sony for a fraction of the cost!

  • The only problem I have is all my friends and family have canon gear and lenses, ill be the odd ball and wouldnt be able to barrow lenses from them. I like the audio quality from the canons and nikons better but this can be upgraded with a better mic attachment. Im torn apart on what my first dslr should be, any suggestions? im gonna be shooting wildlife photo and vid.

  • bits and bytes don't equate to the best camera for the job.

  • Fuck off bald ass

  • brand war is never ending.fully utilized what u have...but a580 is a good camera.

  • The 580 is a great camera, but I think a better review would be a comparison of a camera that is in the same class as the 580...a comparison between nikon d5100 series and canon t2i+t3i series of cameras would be a better comparison....The upcoming a77 will be the competition with the 60d and 7d...but it is nice to see that you can get better performance from a lower series camera

  • sony a580- 5fps??? it says on their website that its 7fps?? can anyone please explain why he's saying 5fps?? :)

  • @DavidJames96 I have the A580 and YES, it shoots up to 7fps when setting the drive to SPEED PRIORITY CONT shooting (but it locks exposure and focus before the first shot) making this the "lower quality" mode. The 5fps can be set for higher quality pics.

  • @jesseINTERACT1VE ohhh okk thanks :) that explains it :) im thinking of getting the a580, would you recommend it? Is it a good camera? please reply back :) thanks.

  • @DavidJames96 Yes, I recommend this camera. Takes good pictures and nice video (even without auto-focus). I like "handheld twilight" and HDR mode. LCD is probably the best out there with fast auto-focus in LIVE view. It has two card slots also SD and PRO DUO. Long battery life. Nice SONY accessories available.

  • @jesseINTERACT1VE Great! Thanks very much for your help! :D

  • ref 2min 25 sec ish, regarding the ISO No. when quality starts to degrade the image noticeably:- less than 1/2 an f-stop

  • If it uses the same sensor as the D7000 how come the crop factor is different?

  • @walkabout16 I agree... I thought Sony was using the Exmor Sensor on the A580 and I bet Nikon D7000 is not.

  • 7 People can't accept the fact that the Sony's mid-range DSLR is better than their mid-range Canon/Nikon.

  • Sony a580 is a nice camera,It's almost like the Nikon d7000.

  • is the sony a580 a full frame camera?

    thanks

  • @fotografiapasoapaso

    The A580 has an APS-C size sensor with a 1.5x crop factor. Sony's A850 & A900 are full frame.

  • I can't decide between T2i and A580.

  • @MyTiga Go with the A580. Its a much better camera all around. plus you can use any old minolta or tamron lens on it and you can find those for cheap.

  • Also check all websites, this Sony 580 is getting high rates for no pro photographer, i challenge you.

it is only good for advanced photographe.

check the review in sony website

  • Hey let's talk Right, you did not talk about canon good things, let me tell you About Body type 7D Mid-size SLR, Sony Compact SLR 7D Magnesium-alloy Vs Plastic - Very Funny 7D 19.0 megapixels Vs 16.7 megapixels even 7D DUAL Digic 4 Vs Sony Single Bionz 7D AF 19-point V Sony 15-point 7D Viewfinder 100% Vs 95% 7D Continuous 8fbs Vs 7fbs 7D Water-re sistant, Dust-resistant vs Nothing 7D shutter lag 131 ms vs 295 ms 7D lenses available 162 lenses vs 92 lenses 7D shutter speed 1/8000s vs 1/4000s

  • @khalednoor75 built material has nothing to do with the picture quality,SOny G lens line up and carl zeiss is a topnotched...how many lenses do you think you need to achieve excellent quality image....

  • i prefer nikon for stills but canon still offers the better video functions?

  • I had almost set my mind on picking up the Canon 550D as my first dSLR. After someone suggested the Sony Alpha 580, I checked it out and now I am almost certain to buy it instead.

  • Sony is the new Minolta LOL

  • @mp4podcastDOTcom

you have probably no idea that Sony actually IS the new Minolta, cuz they bought the whole Minolta system and incoporated it with their new technologies. Your joke is actually very true.

  • @TheZiggiization Why do you think I made the comment? Yes I know. Honeywell sued Minolta over autofocus technology and Honeywell won. Minolta had to pay 80 million dollars to Honeywell. They did not have the money so the sold the camera technology to Sony.

Minolta still makes lens for JVC camcorders.

  • nice review... more of this sony thing,,, lolz

  • Well, I still go to Canon 60D. And Sony's dslr design is ugly.

  • 7d that's it.

  • It often annoys Canon fanbois when they see how a Sony does everything their Canon does, and more!

Superior swivel screens, dynamic range, auto focus video, panorama, 10 fps, in body stabilization....

They then fire back how "superior" their lens choices are. Sony has plenty of good lenses. Plus it can use Minolta AF lenses.

Sony is at least as hardcore and as formidable of a player as Canon is.

  • @a1mint Bodies aren't a big deal (aside from Sony's pretty horrible UI). What matters are lenses. You buy bodies that match the lenses you want, not the other way around. While there are differences in bodies, they're so close in quality these days that bodies matter FAR less than glass. Add in the fact that most people already have a stable of lenses, and you see why people stick with one system. If you don't OWN any lenses yet and you're just starting up then it's more interesting.

  • @BlownMacTruck I find the Sony's UI no worse than the Canon's.

  • @a1mint wow so just get your sony and shut up lol

i got canon 7d coz I like the big range of lenses, im wondering if that sony is so good why is it that canon cameras are still so popular?

  • @MtGuyful Sony also has a big range of lenses when you include all the Minolta lenses. There are good lenses available for every type of use. No need to have double up duplicate redundant lens choices.

Canon is so popular because of hype. Canon made a quick name for themselves when they started the Rebel line. Quickly it really was the best there was. But the competition caught up, and especially Sony, which really is Minolta/Konica which it bought, has some serious cutting edge stuff 2nd 2 none

  • @a1mint lol duplicate lens choices? You mean like between L and non L lens? I hope you're joking.

I don't really know about sony, coz I haven't actually checked it out, but reviews like these by this guy who probably haven't even seen the camera himself are kinda silly. Oh and the post you made bashing canon fanboys just made you look like a sony fanboy

  • @MtGuyful Lenses with similar ranges you condescending snot ! Learn some manner you prick !

I have had both the Canon T2i (550D) an the Sony a33. After careful consideration I returned the Canon in favor of the Sony. The Sony does pictures as good, but not in automatic settings. The 18-135 Canon lens was amazing, but the Minolta 28-105 lens is also very good (less range obviously).

Don't automatically assume the one you're talking to knows less than you !

  • @MtGuyful Because people are stupid and you are stupid.

    lol

  • @Omris45 nice argument, i think you suck, sony sucks compared do nikon/canon

long time before they catch up :D

  • Good news for Sony. Curious to see how the new a700 replacement will come along, especially with the new Carl Zeiss lenses.

  • If you start comparing lenses, that's when you see $ony's real problem

  • @leeh0795 So Sony CZ lenses, such as the 24, 16-35 and 24-70 aren't absolutely SUPERB pieces of glass! Don't forget the 70-200 and 70-400; not forgetting the plethora of classic Minolta lenses! Sure they don't have a great number of lenses, but there are some real gems, they are relatively new to the SLR market. I presume you shoot Canon or Nikon!!!

  • @Meatmiester you know what i can think of many ways to argue with you, but i'm going to take the "conservative" route and end it right here.

  • @leeh0795 No, please do. Sony CZ glass is some of the best on the market.

  • @leeh0795 I think they have Tamron making their cheap lens. Now if you buy their Carl Zeiss Lenses those are some of the best you can buy but they do not come cheap.

Nikon and Canon both make cheap good lens for people starting out.

  • @mp4podcastDOTcom Totally agree with this guy here. keep in mind this is for those looking for a $800 body.

  • @leeh0795 There are plenty of great lens choices for the Sony. Minolta AF lenses are compatible with it and you can find excellent lenses at great prices used on those.

  • @leeh0795

    minolta and zeiss glass ?

  • @leeh0795 not true, sony bought minolta, and carl zeiss make lenses for sony. so sony have quality glass.

  • @leeh0795 Sony realized their lens competition and subsequently acquired Konica Minolta. Us Sony users can use any of the well respected AF Minolta lenses with our A-Mount cameras (I currently use a Minolta Maxxum 50mm f1.7). Our mount also works with other lens brands including Zeiss, Sigma, Tamron, and Vivitar.

As far as L lenses go, yes, Canon has the advantage. As Sony grows to be known as a primary D-SLR competitor, however, I'm sure we will start to see L-comparable Sony lenses.

  • @leeh0795 how many lenses do you think you need ?sony G lens is one of the best....carl zeiss will give you the best result....

  • @leeh0795 Did you know minolta and Zeiss lens are one of the best if not the best dslr lens apart from leica? -.-
