Cannot agree--although I'm surely in the minority. As a boy I DID find Don Adams grating and not my style at all. Barbara Feldon was what kept this young guy watching!!
I usually find these remakes a waste of film, but I have to say that this Get Smart film was at least asgood as, and I think better than the original. Extremely well cast.
Terrific .. Working for T/A . Leonard Stern was most wonderful time in my life . seeing Tom Poston talking about WHY he did not get the role . . .knew that ABC had turned it down thought Tom had too .. Don & I worked together for 5 years on/off after GET SMART .. I cannot picture anyone else doing the role .. Yes, he was very good friends with Bob Newhart & Don Rickels . Jimmy Caan and many more .. Was a lot of fun working on GS & for Don .. . remained good friends til the day he died. ,,
It would have been interesting to see Tom Poston is the role of Max. I can't see him punching, shooting, or killing somebody. Don Adams was the best choice.
dude im only 18 and i loved this show when my dad introduced it to me. trust me whenever i do these lines with my freinds they say what the fuck is that from? im like Get Smart :P
I know the feeling friend.whenever I try my get smart lines on some of my younger friends. I get that puzzled look. and they tell me that i`m crazy. I reply ``and loving it``
Funny how fate somehow can work out so well. Both men had distinctive styles that entertained us. Tom had a great career playing many memorable characters, and Don was the perfect Maxwell Smart. A win, win story for us all.
Adams was a perfect choice to play Maxwell Smart. A shame for Posten, but he did a great job on "Newhart" which actually lasted even longer than "Get Smart".
man poston almost breaks down

I STILL quote Max lines..sadly, fewer and fewer people get the reference.

Funny is funnier, no matter if it was written 500 years ago by Shakespeare or last week. Get Smart TV show writers were geniuses.

My god, Studio Executives were just as stupid then as they are now! I guess that's the timeless prerequisite.......
