Well, I don't suppose you've seen *all* the microwave videos - because in episode 62 and 1/2, the Behind The Scenes Special - I mention that I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3.

It pretty much kicks epic ass. I prefer it over Final Cut, which I use at work.

The long, pre-edited version of this video actually had another minute of me rambling about my PC specs - but at the time I had 20 subscribers, so I didn't think anyone gave a shit. Nowadays, I get that comment more often, so here is the info:

Self-built PC, August 2004.

- 3 GB Ram

- 1.8 TB (terra, yes) of space over 5 HDDs

- 3.0 MHZ Pentium 4 processor (its 4 years old, remember)

- Windows XP, Sp2 - heavily modified

- Radeon 9800 SE, 256 mb Video card

- 500 MW Power Supply

- 3 Optical drives

I am hoping you mean 3.0 Ghz for that processor. My setup is

-2 Gb Ram

-400 Gb Hard Drive

-2.53 Ghz Pentium 4

-Windows XP Pro SP3

-Some Shit NVidia with 64 Mb of video Ram

-No clue on Power Supply

- 2 Optical drives

Do you see anything in there that explains why my Video previews as editing in Premiere are a tad skippy. Also on average how long does it take to export a 10 minute wide screen video.

Yeah, I meant 3.0 Ghz.

I am guessing the low video card is what is slowing Premiere down, and/or making it skipping.

A 10 minute video, rendering out to lossless DV shouldn't take more than a minute or two.

If you are using Adobe Media Encoder to compress it or whatever, sometimes it'll take 1 - 2 hours.
