Reminds me of the time when The Scipii put my city under seige, 2500+ vs (my) 1200 or so. I wont the battle narrowly. My general (of 4) and my Legionary cavalry (of 16) scared off 3 Urban Cohort that were THANKFULLY exausted. most violent battle I was ever in.

al you need are a few phalanxes and it's impossible to lose your settlements.

just deploy them acros the street so the enemy can't avoid their front and they run into a row of spears.

@bek2basic you have to gain enough support from the people (thins takes a while)you play normal until u start to gain a lot of support from the people. Then you start building up armies in italy. Then, when you get "A Chance For Power" (it will come up in one of those little block things on the left) u just attack any of the Roman factions u want to attack. hope this helps

dude... my RTW disc is almost MINT! ok so i am going 2 play it and it says download is not right, so i was like ok i will re-install it. So i Wait for the install stuff 2 pop up (where it shows play RTW uninstall ECT.) but it won't. And no it is not my disc because it will install onto one of my friends computers. I NEED HELP PLZ REPLY!

download ccleaner for free (yes CCleaner). then click on tools and uninstall, select rome TW and uninstall. then install a game. (this is a full reinstall [different from the reinstall option]). it should work.

no, ccleaner should automatically search. i have 2 Hdds and both of them are shown. if not go onto program and features in the control panel. select it and uninstall it from there.

that doesn't uninstall it, there are still .dll files in the windows extension folder. try this, (just re-red the question) put the disc in. go onto My Computer and then right click on the disc icon and select explore right click on setup.exe and select run as admin. also, if you try to install it with any Rome TW disc that ISN'T disc 1 it just has the option exit.

another way to defeat urbans is get a strong phalanx unit (such as sacred bands, pharoh gaurds, spartans) and put ur phalanx units shoulder to shoulder this will make the urbans get stuck on your spears but you have to protect the flanks or the romans will outflank them and beat ur flanked phalanx and continue on to destroy ur army but on top of that you gotta worry about cav lol

Spartans can only beat Urbans if they're in phalanx formation. Otherwise the urbans tear then apart.

naw..romans is only good at defense..but they do have strong cavalry...but in the open field..their slow..and they depend too much on cavalry, velites auxillaries and archers...i cant even even defeat a egyptian army due to their armour upgrades and weapons...and one weakness of the romans...chariots..chariots...­and more chariots..

yes but only chariot nations can beat them and actaully its still hard to beat them with chariot nation all u need is those urban cohorts (i would say there over powered but they were really strong like that in real life) and cav force to keep chariots busy (which romans never had good cav just the game wanted rome to be more special and powered) egypt isnt overpowered the only thing overpowered of them is cheap good units but there not too cheap.

yeah but remember..egyptians have better armour upgrades than romans...so in reality if they fight in an open field...romans would loose if its face to face battle..and the chariot archers are pretty much annoying and not even the praetorian cavalry can catch up to them...even if they have urban cohorts..remember romans are useless withour cavalry..no matter wat type of unit it is..if they dont have cavalry their all dead

urbans are by far the best unit in the game (besides elephants) egypt might have better armour upgrades but urbans have 24 defense already i dont think that would even matter also u have to keep in mind rome's archers and i only know 1 way to defeat urbans 1v1 egypt is the one that depends on cav for example a rome army with urbans and prae cav and egypt pharohs guard and chariot. the romans will we the inf fight unless egypt chariots come and help

last time i was in a civil war with the romans, (this was like 3 years ago) i bought almost every single one of the brutii settlements. I didn't know what i was doing. lol. after i destroyed the last settlement of the brutii, i marched on african soil. i had a large debt coming my way. i ended up almost bankrupt. my campaign against the scipii ended after only taking carthage and a few other settlements in N. Africa. i ended up letting the scipii come my way in egypt. they were trapped.

Dude, at the time of the Roman Legions, hoplites didn't exist. There were only Macedonian pikemen, which had smaller shields and less armour. They did, on theotherhand, have longer spears.

Hoplites were much less versatile than Roman legionairres, see battle of Pydnae, between Romans and Macedonians. Hoplites could fight only in phalanx formation and they were useless in rough terrain, while legionairres could do flanking maneuvers and such.

@RosoMC Hoplites didn't only fight in a phalanx that was just their primary tactic. And roman legionairres had something similar, they stayed in a tight formation side by side. Thats why they had large shields an good discipline. Also anybody can flank as long as you attack someones side or back you are flanking them. Not to mention the macedonians weren't the best hoplites around.

if u had cavalry instead of infantry you would sweep them out with a single charge. I luv cavalry. I once had only 324 mounted men (pretorian cavalry) against 2500 greek men which included a lot of pikemen. there were also spartan hoplites. I won though so few of my men survived but i still won xdxd

I've defended the bridge just exactly the same way, and the most % the enemy kills from my army is 8%. The enemy keeps sending army after army (full stacks) to assault my well guarded bridge and they all get owned.
