only heard the original Bob Dylan version yesterday after refreshing the show (The Walking Dead) in my mind, for the upcoming new season. This version is actually horrible in my opinion, lol and I like Elvis.
Great singer no doubt about it, what ever music you like you must recognise the talent and charisma of the man. He'll' out last most artist's you care to name.
Beautiful song but tried to correct Livinfree. Number ONE she is not his wife hasen't been for years but yes she does Live off the blood sweat and tears he gave and is still conning people . SHE IS THAT IS. But this was a great video and you must be very bitter maybe thats why ytyou are free. But you;re not livin thats for sure . To the maker of this video UTMOM GREAT VIDEO Sweetie Loved every word of the song and of course you know I LOVE the singer. STILL. Hugs Bobbie
@flippy774 Yes. movie from 1983.. also songs from van morrison and jerry lee lewis. This song is from Elvis's 1966 soundtrack album of the movie Spin Out. He wanted this Dylan tune added as a bonus track. They met just once. Bob shyly introduced himself backstage in St. Paul just before Elvis was about to appear in 1970. They exchanged hello's and Dylan returned afterward to pay homage but Elvis had left the building. That night Dylan poignantly wrote 'Went To See The Gypsy'. read the lyrics :)
Man what a voice, We'll never forget this rocken roller.... if he ever did a bad song I havn't heard it yet... I was just turning 30years when he passed. it doesn't seem that long ago.... He's bigger now and I know he'll go on living in the heart of people young and old May God Bless you Elvis
Exhibit A in the criminal mismanagement of Elvis' career by Parker and RCA in the 60s. Not only should this song have been put on a single back in 1966 when it was recorded, but he should have recorded a whole album like this rather than a few odds and ends that were buried as soundtrack bonus tracks. I'm sorry, but the Colonel was an idiot. Too bad Elvis didn't include this in his live show later.
@saskabush2006 I don't think this song would have sold much single wise, but Elvis should have been making good concept albums, encourage to record Blue,Rock,Country and pop records, been a good idea for elvis to work directly with songwriters like in the 50s with lieber and stoller untill the Andreas Van Kuijk got rid of them
No one could sing a song like ELVIS. Whatever he sang, he made it his own. He was such a remarkable man....I will miss him forever, but he will always live on in my heart.
@Tezzaem. the origional song was by bob dylan but he only sang it live, never released or put on an album. he also says that "this" version is his favourite cover of any of his songs.
This is a beautiful song and a wounderful video with great photos of Elvis. You did a awesome job and thank you so much for sharin with us. It brings tears to my eyes , he was such a sweetheart and I miss him everyday of my life, listen to his music everyday. He was a wounderful man and he will forever hold a special place in my heart 47 years later and I still love him as much, no more than ever.
I wasnt just a fan, I was his brother. He said I was good and I said he was good; we never argued about that. Elvis was a hard worker, dedicated, and God loved him. Last time I saw him was at Graceland. We sang Old Blind Barnabus together, a gospel song. I love him and hope to see him in heaven. Therell never be another like that soul brother. - James Brown
James... My father is the most renowned painter (oil, water color) artist in south Mississippi..... born in New Orleans as a toddler... life is like that.... love you
original de BOB DYLAN, ELVIS hace una interpretacion memorable, creando una atmosfera musical de alta calidad, con la gran versatilidad de su voz. tema excepcional.
RCA did not have the sense to put this out as a single back in 1966. It was on the Spinout album but most stations did not play it. I worked at KBMI in Henderson Nevada then and I used to play this a lot. RCA also should have released Tell Me Why in 1958 and Such a Night in 1960 as singles instead of waiting. Elvis had some great songs but many are unknown because they were not singles.
I posted the comment below (666kempkes) and got a response from someone saying Dylan said that Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower" was his favorite song done by someone else.
Both songs are great (Hendrix and Dylan are the best two American musicians of the twentieth century in my opinion). That said, Dylan said a lot of stuff. His comment that I refer to is documented in the incomparable book: "Revolution in the Air: Bob Dylan Behind the Shades".
When Dylan was asked which song he wrote that he liked best sung by someone else, he pick this song sung by Elvis. Reference: The book "Revolution in the Air".
Its"If today was numbing this highway,if tonight was numbing this trail" BEAUTIFUL.E lvis steppin off the TCB trail to pay tribute to another great country artist
Elvis sang some songs of Dylan and he loved them all.Bob (Robert) once said that he never heard his songs that good than sang by Elvis. He didn´t noticed it´s beauty of his songs like that before. He thought those songs were new and didn´t sound like his anymore, he said..if that ain´t a cool compliment by the songwriter I don´t know.
Any song Elvis performed became HIS. He could cover any song and do it better than the orginal singer. He was truly "One Of A Kind". He will never be forgotten.

I like this song since August, 16th 1987, when Hans-Holger Knocke from WDR-Radio introduced it to a great public in Northrhine-Westfalia.
On that day a nearly 240 minutes whre filled with an Elvis Portrait, which was made very well.
