  • like this if a dog, somewhere, barked while you were watching this

  • Everything is sound. Even us.

  • Almost scary how uniform it is

  • This makes me think about aliens for some strange reason.

  • wow absolutely awesome:)

  • I think that when you can scroll through a video on youtube and all the comments are constructive and ask further questions you know you've found something worth watching. There's not a single comment on here that involves an argument, justin beiber, kanye, or any of the other standard fair you would expect. Science really is a universal language and when people sit down and appreciate it for what it is is when we make truly new discoveries.

  • put a mirror on a speaker in the right spot and shine a laser off it. play music and watch the show on a wall

  • alread ybeen on rwj?

  • Holy mozes thats awsome!

  • I already knew sound creates patterns Im glad someone is able to prove it

  • That there is "Cymatics". Thats only two dimensional scheme of what really is a three dimensional occurence. I googled it, and you can too Google Science Mysteries Cymatics, and there you will find the secrets of the universe explained in detail. You know, the building of the pyrmids, the words that proceed from the mouth of god when he drops people dead where they stand...

  • so this is how they make rock gardens so uniform?

  • Amazing!

  • Thats Freking Awesome!!!...i would throw in some ohther colours to :P

  • OMG DUDE THATS THE COOLEST THING IVE SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!

  • That's hurts my ears, let's take a break!

  • The frequency that breaks glass? Yeah, Chuck Norris' face appears one higher than that.

  • set the frequencies to the max and if you can go 360 times higher, chuck norris face will appear

  • it sounds like your trying to blow up my speakers =)

  • umm.. impossible ? lol

  • "Correct me if im wrong, but everything is vibration. we see/feel/hear/taste/smell only a small part of that whole frequency. 1. are we missing out on other things "unseen/unheard" like a dog whistle? 2. is it all just one vibration or separate ones like seeing and hearing feel separate. do they exist as one vibration. like a ball, we see that its blue, we can feel it and hear it bounce."

We hear, see, and feel waves. We taste and smell chemicals.

  • Although light is also a particle.

  • This explains cellular biology and intellectual design.

  • This is how the universe works. The sense of sound creates shape, the two senses co-work, are RELATED. Everything around us has an invisible vibe to it, something hidden underneath, it's invisible but it's there, just like this video.

So that goes down to the theories about dimensions. What is a ghost?.. The origin of a ghost is related to some source, somewhere, probably even beyond what we can see or hear or touch. We are trapped in our 5 senses.

  • @patrikasLTL oh bollocks it's a standing wave (trust the A-Level Physics student)

fucking universal frequency, serously look up standing wave. and double slit diffraction (both yield similar things)

  • Comment removed

  • @AlecTeal Not a universal frequency... It's STRUCTURE from SOUND. Science does a decent, humanly job of describing what is superficially occurring, though not WHY it is or HOW it is occurring.

  • the higher the frequency the more complex is

  • What are the materials and how does this work? Huhu

  • This is cool.

  • The significance are the patterns. They all are...uhhhh..... PERFECT.

    Makes ya think...

  • that is awsome

  • thats fasaating but its easyerly explaned

  • do the sand particles ever teleport into position?

  • @divac7777 no

  • That is very interesting. I have so many questions.

  • my cat hates this.

  • Nice vid! Killer soundtrack! ;)

  • Hm. Hello Rorschach. Nice acoustics - reminds me of the physics lessons back in school.

  • this gave me a head ache, but really interesting...

  • This explaines the crop signes made by aliens

  • that's what i was thinking about before i read your comment :))

  • @RolandRhodes1 i think that you could be on to something

  • @creamiercorn

    I love sarcasm :)

  • Comment removed

  • @RolandRhodes1 Wow When Yu Think Of It Thts True

  • @RolandRhodes1 no thats just kids with rope and some two by fours

  • Really cool. Curious to know the highest frequency used. Anyone any idea? Guess it still works with frequencie sout of our hearing range. Anyone seen a demo with frequencies we can't hear?

  • the Mystery of Sound

    Love it..

  • this is sooo badass!! please dont ever tell me HOW it works, i just want to enjoy it. AWEsome.

  • Anybody know what the frequency is @1:43?

  • no but I think it's an high e. I have almost perfect pitch.

  • high e, congratulations smart ass, you've just been religated to idiot.

  • its actually a high A.. (i think) doesnt sound alike E

  • a lot of what's being observed here.. is essentially comments that resulted in string theory. String theory is awesome. and stuff like this video are great for displaying some fundamentals of string theory.

  • Correct me if im wrong, but everything is vibration. we see/feel/hear/taste/smell only a small part of that whole frequency. 1. are we missing out on other things "unseen/unheard" like a dog whistle? 2. is it all just one vibration or separate ones like seeing and hearing feel separate. do they exist as one vibration. like a ball, we see that its blue, we can feel it and hear it bounce.

  • cw1242: Could you quickly describe the set-up you used for this table? Thanks alot.

  • Well the sound was unpleasant, but the images were pretty cool. They look like parametric functions, and I'm betting that's almost exactly what they are.

  • dam that is tight but the sound is whack but there is alway the mute button

  • i like that there are no negative comments here it says something i think

  • This sounds mad but if you have headphones, listen to the sound and whistle to the frequencies, lol.

  • This sounds mad but if you have headphones, listen to the sound and whistle to the frequencies, lol.

  • Now that's pretty amazing.

  • god my ears bleed!

  • what are the patterns the sand forms? are they the places on the table where there are no vibrations at the time?

  • @hornylink yes or formaly called nodes...

  • my ears still hrt but it was pretty cool : ]

  • this is like a 1 dimension creation of life...this represents the whole order of creation

  • Great direction

  • could this be what crop circles are?

  • i dont think so because the earth had to be really noisy

  • But, who said it was earth. Crop circles seem to be some kind of math. Or what thought to be.

  • lol, I was just looking at a picture of a crop circle a minute ago and it occurred to me they might be physical representations of frequencies of sound, so I came looking for videos of sound making shapes and found this.

  • If they are using ferquencies. It could be frequencies from the celestial bodies within their system because everything has a resonance which means everything makes some kind of noise. Like a magnetic field or something. Anything that emits some kind of force or has some kind of field around it.

  • Makes me think of the OM, the creative sound

of Universal Intelligence, at what frequencies it vibrates? hmm, I guess in all, thru all creation...

  • (trying to get back in normal english, after readin all those complicated comments below)

the first time i played this video my dad nearly killed me. he was workin on a speach and i had the volume as low as posible. (its just no good with out the sound) but still, it felt like i was goin deaf! good video though! i give it 2 big thumbs up!

  • if you go higher you'll get the pattern of the sunflower.

It's the science of standing waves. Amazing video, though the quality should be a little bit better as here are some pictures to be shown.

  • Have you seen this on the net somewhere TheHunter2008? I would like to see it all, rather in more quality : ]

  • watch?v=Mvhuc2DLOp8

but you need water for that. I don't know whether it is possible with sand or not.

  • If you go a little higher, it forms David Hasselhoff's face. Why? Nobody Knows.

  • @urhere44 that's chuck norris !

  • hahahahahahahahaha

  • Just a very odd theory that jumped into my brain whilst watching this, Im not auniversity level educated scientist, so i dont presume to know what im talking about, but i am still interested and read alot, but still, thoughts on this would be great!! :D

  • (which is actualy found not to be a vaccum and is a sea of fluctuating virtual state particles??? im probably way off there, basically im talking about the zero point field.

To overview my concept in layman terms, and terms that remotely make sence.. lol.. maybe, like with the way the grains on this plate are sucked or pulled into position by the vibration on the plate, maybe mass is sucked or pull towards the earth by the vibration on the vaccum/zpf?

  • im just thinking out loud hear, feel free to knock me back down to sanity at any moment lol, Maybe mass feels the effects of gravity due to electromagnetic longitudinal waves (a heavily debated topic in their own right, telsa etc) propegating from the earth and creating a resonance, (or is this to do with standing waves?) like the sound waves do on this plate, but just at a much higher frequency creating an attraction force in the surrouding vacum

  • Maybe this could apply to gravity? The earth has a quatz like stucture and has Lay lines which i think are lines of electromagnetic resonance? Wellll, just as these grains of whatever are pulled into form by the resonance, maybe it works the same with the earth and gravity, just as the quazt is a resonator then so is the earth?

  • If you apply this to thoughts and the electromagnetics of brain waves interesting ideas pop into your head.

  • more sand!!!

  • IM DEAF!

  • MASSIVE

  • feckin awsom

  • This is very cool. It's interesting to see that the higher the sound the more complex the visual patterns become. 5/5 *stars*

  • 0:57 aztec? haha

  • dude I though the same thing!

  • No, it's aliens looking down at you lying down on a table.

  • what happen with two sound in the same time ? like a perfect 5te or a perfect major 3rd ? even a octave...just for the curiosity

  • that was cool.way over 87 des way to loud hope you had ear protection lol had to turn my sound down kind of freaky hope you learned somthing cool way to clean your rice lol

  • yo Dana M, this is some serious shit. standardized music is based on the key of A being at 440 hz, where as these patterns emerge on 432 hz scale system. standard tuning needs to change to the 432 system. there are rumors of nazi propaganda creating a standardized scale system of chaos. i tune to 432hz and i like it more. peace everyone.

  • No nazi propaganda involved in the tune scale evolution. Only our technique. In baroque time's (like Johan sebastian bach's times) the A note was almost a nowaday G note. With the time, music's instruments turn from wood to metal (like piano's tables) so we can tune the strings higher than before. In orchestra, we use the 442 scale because it make the sound brighter. That's one of the reasons how our music system changed. But i'll try the 432 scale for the perfect geometry resonance...

  • How do you tune your guitar to 432 H<-tuning? I'll do it and spread it subconsciously to everyone I know :)

  • that's sooo scary!

  • thats is it!

we are made of atoms atoms are made of vibration! make sence,

  • yay science! thanks for this great post

  • srry, that formula should've been cos((m Pi x)/L) cos((n Pi y)/L) - cos((n Pi x)/L) cos((m Pi y)/L)

Of coarse now it makes a lot more sense to you all... :P

  • I'm doing a school assignment on this too. Can you please explain your formulas?

  • Does anyone actually knów what the equation is for these patterns? 'cause I'm doing a (very) important school experiment with these and I allready know the formula for this experiment with a fixed center and vibrating edges (cos((1 Pi x)/(20)) cos((3 Pi y)/(20)) - cos((3 Pi x)/(20)) cos((1 Pi y)/(20))) But that really doesn't describe these patterns. Smart people? hellow?

  • Does learning something parrot fashion automatically make you smart, or does it just make you normal? hmmm... My point is, most people, if they applied themselves to this, would probably be able to work it out. Thing is, not everyone finds the same things as you interesting or intellectually stimulating. Well done though, for exposing yourself as a self satisfied, arrogant and funnily enough deluded person :p

  • is he also self-righteous?

  • I'd righteously judge that yes, he is.

  • Amazing. I couldn't believe what I was watching!

  • not very actually, most of it is just velocity = frequency x wavelength and then a little bit about the medium depending on what the medium is

  • gave me an headache

  • Interesting and WOW

  • MY EARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • These are called Chladni patterns, named after the physicist that discovered them 200 years ago... they are caused by the sand moving towards the nodal lines in the plate where it is not vibrating - this is a 2 dimensional standing wave in the metal plate... it's pretty sweet

  • Kinda look like crop circles huh?

  • music does have real power, eh?

    thank you

  • awesome. tough on the ears, but very cool. nature's patterns are pretty awesome.

  • That musta been killer for their ears.

  • wow that is amazing

  • standing waves! naow we can see them!!!

  • niiiiiiice!!!!!!

  • Thats beautiful!

  • cool man

  • Mind blowing.. Life is a trip!

  • Thats how aliens make weired marks in the field hehe

  • You know that could have more meaning than just a joke ... the patterns are simalar and this could be maby their languge, how they comunacate. its not a question of ARE there others out there its WHERE... it you think about it how vast outer space it there HAS to be life out there some where.

  • Either you're trying hard to make believers look like idiots, or you're doing a great job at at it effortlessly! Stick to the subject, shut up or simply type "UFO" in the searcfield and press enter!

  • And offcourse my last comment was ment for "trick187kp"

  • i meant that there has to be a reason that those patters are there. no need to flame

  • I believe in aliens, but this video is about resonance and sound waves, not UFOs.

  • i felt like my ears are going to bleed.. never view this with the sound on max

  • it reminds me when i do crystal meth

  • Absolutely amazing. I wanted it to keep on going into higher frequencies

  • Excellent and beautiful demonstration....

  • Do you know why?

  • Chladni Plates that is what it is about.

    Have a look hear

  • Chladni Plates that is what it is about.

    Have a look hear

on wikipedia have a search for Ernst Chladni

  • incredible!

    insane!

    i want one!!!

  • I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow. Just wow.

  • cool

  • could uyse soimetihng like that to make a really cool music video!

  • aff thats incredible ;P

  • holy crap that's insane!
