Yes. All your system files and personal files are on your computer's hard drive. Removing the hard drive will remove Vista and if you get a new hard drive you have an empty operating system. If you put back your original hard drive back to the computer you have Vista again.
ive started noticing my computer squeeling a little every now and then and im assuming its the HD. how long will it last before it will crash. is it possible that it will not fail? thanks
From my personal experience, I doubt that the sound is your hard drive. If the sound IS your hard drive, something has seriously malfunctioned within your machine. An easy way to fix this is to open your computer case and dust all of your fans. If this doesn't help, make a video reply so I can see the sound that your computer is making.
U r d best. Was having problems replacing my HD and the other videos left out the simple fact that u enlightened me on and that is to remove the casing that covers the connectors and put it on the new hard drive. Voila, it worked!!! A million kisses for you. I was about to return my hard drive stating that it wasn't compatible with my laptop. I am just an average mom who saw a hard drive for the first time in my life and you took me through the ropes. THANKS, THANKS, THANKS.
Just a note...dont just "Discard" the hard disk as suggested! wipe it thoroughly using wiping tools and destroy so that no personal/confidential data can be retrieved by others.
Thank you for this tip. Unfortunately, we did not include this important segment in the video, as we did not have the time. Your comment is appreciated!
