I don't see why it bothers you so much when Eric doing the same thing wouldn't. The blood bond induces sexual attraction and Sam had a lot of Bill's blood at the end of Season 2. It's likely that the 'erotic connection' Ball talks about being in Season 3 is mostly just Sam's dreams - though it might go further later on, when Sookie learns Bill's secret and moves on to the likes of Alcide and Eric.

I've never read the books, though I do know some of the plots. I'm just going on what Alan Ball has said will happen in Season 3. I read a lot of spoiler interviews. Sam and Bill will have an 'erotic connection'. Sookie will sleep with men other than Bill, including Eric.

It's a vibe /aura way of behaving. Eric is only stronger because he's older. He looked good in that dress! I don't have an opinion on the actors who play them, just hate Eric, love Bill- never want him to stray from Sookie for either sex.
Arrogance/pride is traditionally masculine, but I'm pretty sure that the whole Godric plot was supposed to humanise Eric and garner him more sympathy.
Bill's betrayal of Sookie is devastating and I think it would make for great TV. As would Eric/Sookie (for a while, anyway, because of the conflict). I don't want her to end up with a vampire though, since she'll never be one (and I'm glad of that)
He has strayed in the books from what I understand. In the latest one he moves on.

Ball's said he wants to explore the Eric/Sookie relationship though, and that they have sex in season 3. Bill doesn't need to be with Sookie in order to remain a prominent character in the show. True Blood isn't Twilight.

Why can't it allbe true? None of it seems to contradict as far as what's in Seaon 3's concerned. Sam will probably have erotic dreams of Bill due to their blood bond and while I'm not sure whether it'll affect Bill the same way, it would be interesting if it did. I do expect Ball to pursue the Eric/Sookie romance and Bill's betrayal though. The former definitely happens (trailer footage, various interviews) and he's said the latter interests him.

Relationships need more than love in order to work and be fulfilling. Sometimes a single action can destroy any future two people have together, no matter how much they love one another. From that, Sookie moved on (though I do think Eric'll die) and reviews of the latest book seem to suggest that Bill finally moves on too.
I think the gay thing would be interesting (if they did it well) because it'd challenge the characters' perceptions of themselves and that's always neat.

A gay/bi Bill would just be... Bill. It wouldn't have to change anything about his personality, or his devotion to Sookie. Plenty of bisexual people end up in straight relationships. However, I don't think Bill and Sookie will end up together if Ball keeps Bill's betrayal in the books. That's a dealbreaker.

I'm not a gay guy, I just find it interesting when people's perceptions of themselves are challenged. The emotional conflict is interesting, much more so than watching a happy couple curl up and gossip for hours. Boring.
The book series and True Blood are both mystery/adventure series, not romances, so yes, they'd be a point if Bill and Sookie didn't end up together (and in the end, even if they do, she'll grow old and die and he'll... watch).
Seducing someone for an ulterior motive is a betrayal of the highest order regardless of whether or not you fall for them for real. You didn't know you would, but you went through with it anyway and fully intended to manipulate another person's emotions in doing so.
It's also important to realise that *Sookie* viewed it as a betrayal and her view of Bill was shattered. The man she thought she was in love with turned out to be (in her view) someone else.

I hate the way CH changed Bill's character, that's why I will never read another TB book. The show is different. Eric does much worse in my opinion. According to CH, Sookie ages like a regular human, though it's possible that she might 'unlock' new powers that lengthen her lifespan. However, I doubt it'd be by much, she's only minutely fairy.
And there's always a choice. Always. Some people would rather die than take orders like that. I think it's interesting that Bill went through with it and it makes his character more interesting but it's still a dealbreaker for Sookie. CH *developed* Bill's character. Change is good

Alan Ball's comments (and the trailers) so seem to suggest that he is following the Bill/Sookie/Eric plotline as it is in the books though.

So far, I don't think Sookie is a slut in the books. I also don't think being a slut is a bad thing so long as it's all consensual and safe, but that's another matter.
Bill will be as main a character as Eric, Sam, Tara, Laf and other show staples, but he isn't and he won't be on Sookie's level. Just as with the books, this is *her* story so switching partners is fair game. More so, because True Blood is a mystery/adventure series like the books, and not straight-up romance.
@darkslavechaos Sookie sleeping around in the books just makes me not care much about her. Having an emotional investment in the main character is essential for me. Watch the opening credits in season 3. If Stephen's name is still the first one after Anna, that means he is still the second to main character. He is not on the same level as the others. Their relationship is precisely why I love the show and not the books.
I'll keep an eye out for his name on the credits, 'cause that's a good point. However, there are plenty of stories where the main characters *don't* end up together. Bill is an interesting character, but Sookie is the heart of the show and we know she gets it on with Eric in S3 so the sleeping around thing is definitely in, even if there's nothing to suggest how long that relationship will last in True Blood.
@darkslavechaos I think the main differences will be that Sookie will give a lot more thought before she has a relaionship with Eric, unlike the books where at first she just fancies him. She probably will be with him for a while. I think that the situation with Bill will be more complicated. I think he will be forced to tell sookie that he doesn't love her anymore by his kidnappers. Sookie will discover the truth eventually. I can hope for a happy ending can't I? -Bill and Sookie together.
I'm not sure there's that much thought behind it in the beginning. One of the preview clips had Sookie clearly eyeing up Eric's torso while ranting at him about Bill. It was pretty funny. xD
The situation with Bill is more complicated but I can't see either of them getting a happy ending until the end of the series (a lack of conflict is boring) and I don't think it'll be with each other. And Bill does tell Sookie he doesn't want to be found, but I don't think he's forced to...

I don't see why it bothers you so much when Eric doing the same thing wouldn't. The blood bond induces sexual attraction and Sam had a lot of Bill's blood at the end of Season 2. It's likely that the 'erotic connection' Ball talks about being in Season 3 is mostly just Sam's dreams - though it might go further later on, when Sookie learns Bill's secret and moves on to the likes of Alcide and Eric.

Eric is much more masculine than either Bill or Sam, yet he's comfortable sleeping with men and seeing as both Bill and Sam have enjoyed sex with women, any altercation they had would make them bi, not gay.
I've never read the books, though I do know some of the plots. I'm just going on what Alan Ball has said will happen in Season 3. I read a lot of spoiler interviews. Sam and Bill will have an 'erotic connection'. Sookie will sleep with men other than Bill, including Eric.

Arrogance/pride is traditionally masculine, but I'm pretty sure that the whole Godric plot was supposed to humanise Eric and garner him more sympathy.
Bill's betrayal of Sookie is devastating and I think it would make for great TV. As would Eric/Sookie (for a while, anyway, because of the conflict). I don't want her to end up with a vampire though, since she'll never be one (and I'm glad of that)
He has strayed in the books from what I understand. In the latest one he moves on.

That's why he kills himself [in the books] Some things in the books are very different others are the same. Bill and Sookie's romance is much, much more important in the show than in the books. Stephen moyer is the main character after Anna so he will always be in it..

Ball's said he wants to explore the Eric/Sookie relationship though, and that they have sex in season 3. Bill doesn't need to be with Sookie in order to remain a prominent character in the show. True Blood isn't Twilight.

Why can't it allbe true? None of it seems to contradict as far as what's in Seaon 3's concerned. Sam will probably have erotic dreams of Bill due to their blood bond and while I'm not sure whether it'll affect Bill the same way, it would be interesting if it did. Also, it'd make Bill bi, not gay, considering it probably wouldn't turn him off women.

Ah. The Sam/Bill erotic connection doesn't contradict though. That's everywhere if you google it. There's also the 'Talbot cheats' report that heavily implies they make out. There's nothing that really goes into the nature of the relationship though - whether it's a dream or not. I'd guess it is
I do expect Ball to pursue the Eric/Sookie romance and Bill's betrayal though. The former definitely happens (trailer footage, various interviews) and he's said the latter interests him.

Relationships need more than love in order to work and be fulfilling. Sometimes a single action can destroy any future two people have together, no matter how much they love one another. From that, Sookie moved on (though I do think Eric'll die) and reviews of the latest book seem to suggest that Bill finally moves on too.
I think the gay thing would be interesting (if they did it well) because it'd challenge the characters' perceptions of themselves and that's always neat.

A gay/bi Bill would just be... Bill. It wouldn't have to change anything about his personality, or his devotion to Sookie. Plenty of bisexual people end up in straight relationships. However, I don't think Bill and Sookie will end up together if Ball keeps Bill's betrayal in the books. That's a dealbreaker.

I'm not a gay guy, I just find it interesting when people's perceptions of themselves are challenged. The emotional conflict is interesting, much more so than watching a happy couple curl up and gossip for hours. Boring.
The book series and True Blood are both mystery/adventure series, not romances, so yes, they'd be a point if Bill and Sookie didn't end up together (and in the end, even if they do, she'll grow old and die and he'll... watch).

Seducing someone for an ulterior motive is a betrayal of the highest order regardless of whether or not you fall for them for real. You didn't know you would, but you went through with it anyway and fully intended to manipulate another person's emotions in doing so.
It's also important to realise that *Sookie* viewed it as a betrayal and her view of Bill was shattered. The man she thought she was in love with turned out to be (in her view) someone else.

I hate the way CH changed Bill's character, that's why I will never read another TB book. The show is different. Eric does much worse in my opinion. According to CH, Sookie ages like a regular human, though it's possible that she might 'unlock' new powers that lengthen her lifespan. However, I doubt it'd be by much, she's only minutely fairy.

From what I've heard/read, Bill's love for Sookie did him no good after her rejections and his subsequent development made sense to a lot of people in light of that.
Alan Ball's comments (and the trailers) so seem to suggest that he is following the Bill/Sookie/Eric plotline as it is in the books though.

Bill will be as main a character as Eric, Sam, Tara, Laf and other show staples, but he isn't and he won't be on Sookie's level. Just as with the books, this is *her* story so switching partners is fair game. More so, because True Blood is a mystery/adventure series like the books, and not straight-up romance.

Watch the opening credits in season 3. If Stephen's name is still the first one after Anna, that means he is still the second to main character. He is not on the same level as the others. Their relationship is precisely why I love the show and not the books.

I'll keep an eye out for his name on the credits, 'cause that's a good point. However, there are plenty of stories where the main characters *don't* end up together. Bill is an interesting character, but Sookie is the heart of the show and we know she gets it on with Eric in S3 so the sleeping around thing is definitely in, even if there's nothing to suggest how long that relationship will last in True Blood.

She probably will be with him for a while. I think that the situation with Bill will be more complicated. I think he will be forced to tell sookie that he doesn't love her anymore by his kidnappers. Sookie will discover the truth eventually. I can hope for a happy ending can't I? -Bill and Sookie together.

I'm not sure there's that much thought behind it in the beginning. One of the preview clips had Sookie clearly eyeing up Eric's torso while ranting at him about Bill. It was pretty funny. xD
The situation with Bill is more complicated but I can't see either of them getting a happy ending until the end of the series (a lack of conflict is boring) and I don't think it'll be with each other. And Bill does tell Sookie he doesn't want to be found, but I don't think he's forced to...

I love Bill. I think he's a great, complex character, but there's no getting around his betrayal of Sookie in the books and presumably Season 3... which seems to be sticking close to the books on the B/S/E issue.
