The King James Version should be preferred over the new versions. I absolutely abhor the New International Reader's Version. It's awful and could very easily lead someone down the wrong path. Unfortunately, my church has many of these in the Sunday school rooms (assuming because they think it's 'easier' to read). It's just so dumbed down that I can't interpret the Scripture for myself. Every Paulian epistle starts "I am Paul. I am a servant of Christ." It's a Dr. Seuss book.
