Difference though, in English speaking countries, basically EVERYone speaks english and barely any other language. So if asians talk in their specific language, wherever they're from, but yet they have the ability to speak english as well, now THAT is why it's rude.

it happens w/ asians among other asians (of diff ethnicities), too. when i'm with my bf's family, they speak in their native tongue (even though they can speak english), and I don't know what the hell they're talking about. it's the worst when it's at the dinner table. i always feel like screaming because I feel like it's so rude.

There could be a lot of reasons why they do that. For one, even if they can speak English, they may not be comfortable speaking it. Perhaps they don't feel their English is very good and don't want to embarass themselves in front of guests. Or maybe what they want to say to a private family matter and would rather not share with the guests. Or there are some relatives that the table who don't speak English and won't understand. There are a million reasons other than simply being "rude".
