  • This is a great song and movie, I used to play this song when I was in college, helped me get me mind right!

  • RIP thin Val.

  • A classic, someone repost this with a flipped negative or something. Love these old 80's flicks. You guys remember Monster Squad? :D

  • Man, i remeber seeing this when I was 11 years old and thinking how great it was. Is it just because I was a kid in the 80's that I feel so strongly about that time period or was it simply great. I don't think kids today have a time that holds as strong of a feeling. The nineties I think was the last decade that felt special. I could be wrong, but I had M Jackson and they have J Beiber. What a Shame...................................PEACE

  • ah ahhhh ahhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • I love this song!!! Great movie! Great Memories!

  • I wish someone would repose the entire movie. It used to be available on YT that is until the internet went into HYPER COPYRIGHT INFRINGMENT MODE. It's all Google's fault.

  • i swear JERRY the head boss in this is GAY!!!!!!!!

  • @xxsinfullxxful he can't be gay if he was gonna hammer a 6 inch nail through a board with his dick with her lol

  • Lazlo, Grandma just called and said you're supposed to go home. You've been ruining everybody's lives and eating all our steak!

  • I love this movie. I remember seeing this when I was a kid

  • Well now that YT is selling this movie the many versions of the full movie posted on YT for FREE have been excised. boo.

  • I forgot Flashdance, Wisdom, Dirty Dancing and Solar Babies...

  • Gotta love those 80's movie montages. Some of the best:

Footloose, Teen Wolf, Teen Wolf too, Anything with Corey Haim and or Feldman, Bloodsport, Breakin, Breakin 2 Electric Bugaloo, Northshore, RAD, Wrath...

  • Yeah this is still one of my favorite movies ever.

  • I was 16 when this movie came out. One of my favorites. God we believed we could do anything back then. Kicking ass in school to this song brings back goood times.

  • is it me...? or is val kilmer the sexiest genius youve ever seen?

  • I have my final medical exams in a week, and I am the Japanese guy at 2:15. Damn.

  • GREAT movie!!! Thanks for sharing!

  • It's movies like this that make me wish I had lived through the 80s and not just been born. Such a remarkable decade.

  • What's the song?

  • @A3R0SPACE054 "Number One" by Chaz Jankel.

  • This reminds me of my University days.

  • The only problem I have is with one part in this movie is when Mitch goes down to see Lazlo and his carnival car is at the top whereas Lazlo was down in his dwelling in his pj's stuffing envelopes. Wouldn't the car be down in his pad instead of up?

  • ~i'll do i'll do my best my best to beat to beat the rest ~

  • Gotta love lazlo hiding in the closet.

  • one of the great movies ever made

  • they don't make movies like that anymore, it was a different time, it was not long ago and how society changed. Now there is a lot of garbage, MTV became exploitive targeting corporate agenda. Movies changed too. At least in Europe they still have 80s nostalgia and organize 80s festivals where people dictate conditions not corporations.

  • @4321micro agreed, but I see a lot of Reagan era symbolism in this movie. Many people found the Reagan years to be just as corporate, consumer-based and culturally vacuous as the 50's. The 80's was probably more fun for the people reflecting back on it as opposed to the people living back then. But teen and college comedies were much better than the crap coming out now.

  • @TheGreaterGood80

I was born in the 80's, but I wish I was a teen then. All my favorite punk bands came out then and the skateboarding scene was awsome, not to mention the reagan conservitive movment that the punk rockers were railing agienst

  • this scene motivates me to study when I feel lazy-

  • positive energy by this 80's movie

  • utube c-suckers took down the movie....

i wanna watch the clip w/ bryan adam's "One Night Love Affair"!!!!

  • Reminds me of the good old days!

  • mira men quien es el cantante del audio ??

  • notice val kilmer has a penis eraser in the pecil

  • awesome movie and great music.1love to the real genius movie.

  • 80's study montagetastic!!!!

  • @2:07 reminds me of my time at Carnegie Mellon

  • When I first saw this movie, I couldn't understand the scene with the kid screaming while everyone was studying. Then I went to college, and I understood then.

    This movie rocks!

  • LOVE THE SONG!

  • This movie completely molded my view of what college was going to be like when I was young. I was so disapointed when I learned that "real scientists" didn't wear a catcher's mask and padding when doing experiments with lasers :)

  • A classic 80s musical montage! :) Just what I needed to start my weekend--thanks for posting!

  • A great movie montage!

  • This is the greatest film of the 80s. This movie is my shit !... I have a couple of the songs in my Ipod. Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • Right

  • I love this film (and Jankel too)

  • Says the one who can't even write correct English. Congratulations.

  • What an awesome sound track from the 80s.

  • born in 84, saw this in 07, and i thought it was an instant classic.

  • this song plays in my head when I study intensely

  • i know right

  • @electrorice lol

  • @electrorice Me too! I have a long research paper and another long paper to write in two days. Time to drink a lot of coffee and do it! First, I needed to watch this video to get fired up.

  • @Wampaa This video fires me up when I'm doing Laplace transforms to solve for efficient circuits.

  • @electrorice did you pass?

  • ultimate 80s.

    best sequence of the movie.

  • Fantastic movie. Seen it 1000's of times, could see 1000's times more

  • the 80's made some of the best movies

  • HA! HA! HA! HAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Gotta love the look in that guy's face.

  • i loved this movie when this came on at

G4 i thought it would be some old time crap but when i watched it i loled the whole way through

  • classic 80's my favorite movie

  • "I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said........I drank what?"

One of my favorite movies ever!

  • @dlweiss WOOT! Thanks for noting that! It is one of the all-time greatest film quotes in my opinion. Pity that few people grasp the significance of it though:) It is ac onstant punchline after a rough day in my family. Glad to see someone else enjoys it!

  • "I was hot....and hungry."

  • Kent was the ultimate dork and cheeseball in this film and in Bachelor Party. I like when Val Kilmer sabotaged Kent's car and he said I'll get you for this. You'll rue the day!!! Who talks like that? This is a great movie with a great soundtrack.

  • "Up the voltage."

  • "and stop playing with yourself"!!!

  • It *is* God.

  • Ukla, u rock dude!!! I'm glad u picked up the reference and posted one yourself!!

  • great movie

  • I love this movie....

  • Real Genius is-no exaggeration-my favourite film of all time.

  • It is a great film. I so remember sitting in engineering classrooms before PowerPoint going into a trance watching the prof scribble on the chalkboard.

  • Goo song!

  • like one of the best classics! =]]

    luv that movie

  • One Of The Best!

  • classic

  • ı have still got this movie on vhs :D

  • i wish someone would post the whole movie on here

  • Real Genius was subconciously remade as 21

  • LOL I have this song on my iPod (along with the Comsat Angels as well). I seriously can't listen to this song without hearing the poor dude's meltdown in the middle of it (video part @ 2:05). I love how they just shift seats and go about like normal and nothing was wrong. Like it's common place (i'd imagine it might be though for those kind of think tank schools).

Lol, thanks for this! "Real Genius" is always good for a smile/laugh! :)

  • OMG! Right there with you!!! I have both songs on my iPod as well and always imagine that dude screaming as well!! This is one of my all time favorite movies and I think sums up the mid-80s perfectly. :)

    <3

  • how can i get "im falling" I CANT FIND IT!!!!

  • Comsat Pilots... bit torrent is your friend "I'm falling"

  • Nope, this is Chaz Jankel's "Number One".

  • Thank you for that info! I needed to know who sang this song! This is ol skool baby!!

  • that's funny cause i think exactly the same thing during the middle of the song!!!!

  • what song is this??

  • Artist: Chas (or Chaz) Jankel

    Song: Number One

    Album: Looking At You (1985)

Good luck finding the song, let alone the album.

I happen to have an mp3 of this song as well as "I'm Falling" by The Comsat Angels, which also happens to be in Real Genius.

Two of the best forgotten tracks ever to come out of the 80s.

  • thanks!

  • dude how ever you have to do it, please send them to me. how ever we can for me to put it on my ipod! your the man

  • Totally agree on that! None of my friends remembers this movie...

  • huahuahuah I laughed my ass of when the guy at 2:05 freaked out!

  • haha nice one!:)

  • Buy it now!!!!!!

  • Good movie

  • 2:05 is hilarious!!! lol

  • They really should use that for an anti-secondary school reform program. That might prove it. "Don't send your kid to college, he or she might turn out like this... *clip* Be gentle to teenagers."

  • LMAO!!! that would be pretty funny!! ^_^

  • I really want to see this movie but can't find it anywhere!

  • Check Amazon, it's produced on DVD, cause I have a copy.

  • Good movie!!

  • The world needs smart people.

  • check out this sleeper and i mean sleeper val kilmer movie called 'kill me again' it's with his former wife joanne walley kilmer. it is very very good.

  • oh shit, thats his wife? she kinda turned me on in, the man who knew too little with bill murray. i just seen her name as the joanne walley..thats fuckin trippy man

  • This is also one of my fav. 80's movie. Val Kilmer is so cute. I love him in his other movie, "The Doors" as Jim Morrison.

  • if u like him, u should see him in top secret..ayear before this came out..he looks even younger

  • A true 80s classic. One of my favorite movies. Val Kilmer is great.

  • First saw this in my honors physics class in high school. According to the teacher, this is why he didn't go to MIT.

Come to think of it, I think he was the featured student at 2:05.

  • Yeah, I was gonna go to MIT, but some movie messed it up for me, too.

  • The school in the movie is fictional, though it was supposed to be Cal Tech.

    Great movie, though.

  • who sings this song? is bad ass shit.

  • I think it's "The Tuff Do What?" by Tonio K. Unfortunately the track was never released. Can't even find it on the interwebs.

  • Actually, it's Chaz Jankel's song: Number One. You can find the video on youtube

  • Chaz Jankel

I listen to it before every exam

  • you should try Falling by The Comsat Angels too

  • Sorry but it was USC. Tech adviser was on USC faculty. Equipment used was something I worked on as a grad student there.

  • I watched this on commedy central one summer 6 or 7 years ago, that definitly was a cool treat

  • Yes, i know that now, I did read wrong.

  • What was the name of the Byran Adams song in this movie?

  • One night love affair

  • one night love affair is the bryan adams song

  • Shame about the music tho!

  • Underrated flick. The Dr. is funny as hell.

  • Not quite the same as "living" in the 80's!

It was an awesome time to be a teen!

  • Indeed, it was a fair time.

  • absolutely right.. :-)

  • I mean ;

Val kilmer is in big trouble in little china, Hot as always !
