Say what you like about the Todd "sound" but he knew / knows how to make a floor-friendly mix. 2 and half minutes of sole-track uplifting groove, a bit of sparse beats, then it all comes back in for you to run underneath whatever track you've brought in over the empty beats section. Does the job well, even though the full 7 min Stonebridge mix is a more of a stand-alone belter.
Yeah i realise its hard to make your own sound that catches on. And to make one that souds good. It just always cracked me up when i heard a tune i'd more or less be able to guess the vocal pattern. lol. Still good though!
@gordonjohnd yes his tracks did share 'certain similarities' but that was his flavour and we loved it! the fact that so many people tried to imitate his style is testament to the fact that he is a genius! trust me, it's not as easy as you think to create such a unique sound. you must also appreciate he was paid to recreate that sound time and time again as a remixer & although some mixes sound outdated these days a lot of them still sound as fresh & innovative as the day they came off the press!
At the time (90's) I thought all, well most, of Todd Edwards stuff was really good. Its ok when I listen to it now. But my god is most of it the bloody same!!! The same cut up snippets of vocal making a similar sound. Every bastard time!
@gordonjohnd rofl so true but thats where the mans genius!!! bet he could have a whole rave raving to a 2 hr set with the same track, cut up and remixed several different ways.......
I so wish you would sample my voice.. Ive been practicing since i was 5 yrs old...(thats when I started hearing harmony) yep the congragation really liked my sister my mom (Who is a pianist) and I in three parts at that until now.. we just sang at the begiining of the week and you and I are the same age...ahaha
The vocals are cut up, they don't really mean anything as they're just snippets strung together to make up part of the melody. Todd Edwards is the master of that art.
How can anyone dislike this tune?? I guess they were movin about too much and hit the button by mistake?!?! WHAT A VIBE!!!
