Hey man, mad props on the track...Gotta a ? I recently picked up a 2000xl (im used to 1000s)...what did u do after u chopped it up?> looked like u adjusted the program to cut off sound from one pad after another pad was hit? Man, i've been trying to figure this out for a minute...how can i assign samples to pads within the program and do that???thanks dude
thanks man. it's a bit tricky but i'm sure you can do this on the MPC 1000 as well. in the 2000XL you just go to the program menu, hit the pad you want, and under params set it to "note:mono". say you hit Pad1 and you want it to cut off after hitting Pad2. you hit Pad1, then it when it comes time to hit Pad2, you actually hit both Pad1 and Pad2. then go into step edit and in the event where you hit Pad1/Pad2, change the velocity of Pad1 to the lowest value.
Using records is what Hip Hop originated from. That is the essence. Yeah a lot of cats do similar stuff. But you find that in all types of music. Sampling is a form of music composition. Its just an unconventional form, thats all. But what about all these cats using the TR808 drums on every track, with they're wack three chord synth keys?
No problem keep making that dope shit playboy the tracks called "tired of life" and "more than you" are dope also but"listen to me" is straight crack my dude word up!!!
you man whats good...first off the beat was hot..but I do have a question for you..do you clear your samples with the original artist, or you just give them credit..Im sampling but I dont know how it works when I sell a beat let me know man..
you man whats good...first off the beat was hot..but I do have a question for you..do you clear your samples with the original artist, or you just give them credit..Im sampling but I dont know how it works when I sell a beat let me know man..

if you own an MPC you'll know how long it takes to cut up a sample. it's way faster and more powerful, plus, you could add effects to the samples before you load them in the MPC.
watching this just stepped my game up for real. you made the drum track before you added the sample so i'm assuming you already new what the tempo was going to be.
no, the tempo of the original song is nowhere near where I sampled it. I just knew what kind of beat I wanted to make, what's the feel I was going for. Then I adjusted the original sample accordingly.
i have a 2000xl but when i play my keys trough midi its not lettin me record straight to the beat its only leting me play my keys on the pads ,, what do i have to do to play my keys on the beat like you did on your strings and bass ,, thank you very much man
No, not for this one. Sometimes I do that to give the beat a "sampled" feel to it. But the only keys parts i put in here, were some strings and the bassline.
A yo wussup homie my name Clavon Nedd ima up-coming music producer from philly and im bout to go mainstream, but yea yo shit is hot so ima definatly shout you out dawg when i get notice in this music thing
it all depends on the effect that you're goin for. For this beat I did both depeding on the samples I used. Mono allows u to tap the sample consecutivel, cutting the previous tap short. Note off allows u to hold the pad to play the sample, then cuts it off as soon as u release it.
Still bringing it back to your website Z ! Showing alot of peep's your beat's here in Tucson it's a rare style. "FLY HIGH" is my 'stuck on replay' vote right now. Hope all is good.
I Feel your beat man, very nice, just one technical thing, if you could pan the snare more to the middle it would smack the feelin right in my head! Keep up the good work! Love it!
Yo nice work man,so U used a pro gramme to chop up the sample,so how did u get it into the MPC?Iknow U got a zip disk.I dont sample but when i do i use the MPC to chop the samples.
I do my initial chops on the computer..much faster than the MPC. plus i can add effects to the samples before they go in. i installed a zip drive in my PC, so i export the separate chops as wav files and send them to a zip disk, then i take that zip disk and pop it into the MPC to load the sounds.
hey i'm feeling the video. can you help me out. I got an mpc 2500 but, i don't how to record my beatz to the computer? and How to use the 8 assignable Outs?
well, the 2500 is a powerful machine and if you were motivated enough to get it for $2,000, you should be motivated enough to read the manual. what you're asking is very basic, and if you're serious about your craft then i recommend you learn.
I understand..How you feel hommie, but sometimes u still gotta tell them.Yeah they need to learn on they own but learning for somone they look up too is something else.. U need track out wit an Interface or something Cityboy
Look, if somebody's askin me how to get their drums tighter, or how to chop up a sample, then I'm all ears. But if you askin me shit that's on the first few pages of your manual, then go read that shit like we all did.
alrite m8 luvin the beat one of the best ive heard in a long time amazin ive got the 2000xl could you tell me how to assign the nv slider to the tunning m8 or unless its fuked lol write back if u can stu fae glesga cheers buddy
hey homie, thanks for the love. however, i'm not sure what you mean. to assign the nv slider, just hit "shift" and "assign". there you will have access to a bunch of different options for the slider.
This is awesome. Studying Sound Engineering at college and wasnt really into the Music Technology side of things but after listening to these i am gonna get a MPC1000 now!
I'm glad the video pursuaded you to follow a path. I haven't used the MPC 1000, but if you like it then get it. The one in the video is an MPC 2000XL. you can probably find a used one on craigslist or ebay for $650 - $700.
Hey Brazil, Been looking at 2000xl and 1000's mostly. I can get a 2000xl for £400 which is roughly what you have said. Is it worth getting the 2000xl over the 1000?
I would get the 2000XL, more bang for your buck. If you want a 1000, they're cool too if you have the money. I'm used to the 2000XL and it's basically considered an industry standard. The 1000 can do everything the 2000xl can do except it doesn't have auto chromatic assignment and it only has 4 outs.
hey bro, nice track man. i see u use sonar. i make beats on mpc and use sonar to record my vocals. can u advice as to how to connect mpc with sonar and record them on individual tracks on sonar?.. ur answers will be highly appreicated bro
well, it depends on the midi interface you are using to connect the two. you need to set sonar to use that midi port and sync the equipment connected to it. i don't know what version of sonar you're using but it's usually in Options ---> Project. i would tell you to read the manual and do research instead of looking for easy answers. that's the only way to learn.
yo dude i love that! hey bro canu tell me something, i have my mpc connected to my mixer, and the mixerconnected to pro tools. do you do ur drums separetly? like kick on track 1 and snare on track 2 hats on track 3? etc...
thanks for the compliment G. As far as your setup goes, the MPC needs to be connected to whatever Pro Tools interface you're using via MIDI(Digi001, Digi002, etc.). That way when you hit record on PT, it will automatically trigger the MPC as well. And yes, I have a separate track for each aspect of the beat. You can control your mixes alot better this way.
feeling the added elements dope chops not feeling the strings but i understand didnt wanna just leave it solo and not add your own spin. maybe it was just the quality but they didnt seem right..

yo brown'you only clear your samples if you
bring your songs into a record deal if your
a signed artist, and if your just making some
loot and going "public"with it you gotta
get em cleared otherwise its a MAJOR LAWSUIT
now if it just under the table transaction
dont worry about homey it thats the buyers problem after that.
