juz becos you have never seen such sanshou b4 does not mean that it is not sanshou. if ur idea of sanshou is to bring the opponent down and beat the hell of your opponent, i think u do not at all understand the deeper meaning of chinese martial arts. plus, just becos u do not c the "standard" hung gar moves does not mean that it is not hung gar. a true martial arts practitioner knows tt the ultimate level is "formless". let's not get into a debate with words, u hv to experience it to understand
think there's a little language barrier here as you dont seem to know what I meant by "words" being strong. I think you dont know what does sanshou and sanda means, or even mma, and how did they evolve along with how their history develops. they are not a style per se. yes, chinese kung fu supposingly were the best and led to all other styles. but today, because of the way they are practised, they lost that fighting element - in its application.
maybe my words were too strong, dont mean to offend, only to comment. but do you know that san shou refers to free sparring. or do you not understand what sparring means? whether it is full contact or in a point system, you are to strike an opponent and to take him down. it is merely pushing and pulling in your case. you have youtube, check out how mma, taekwondo, karate or bjj do their sparring. you can never be laughing out during sparring, you have a great art here, but this is not sparring.
@bummerfiesta You words are not strong...just only air , no substance :) but again, you can comment freely on internet. Which book or dictionary says 散手 means sparring? san shou - free sparring... sanda also free sparring... MMA - free fight...no difference? I'm not trying to prove anything by posting my vid here, just to create awareness of my belief on how CMA should be. No point arguing on the discription. Talk is cheap...

@bummerfiesta Are you a Kung Fu Pracitioner? I hope you're not, because it's a disgrace to us. Sparring?...You cannot even read properly...Please post constructive feedbacks. I'll leave you comments on so that people can tell how disrespect & lame a Singaporean you are.
You sound like a great hung gar master. Your're right about taking advantage of the 'force', please drop in a few notes to elaborate your point. In real fights, most chinese kung fung will cause great damage. San shou practise is essential in any form of CMA. It may take years before many can do that without getting hurt. Have you ever seen any real fights using hung gar techniques? In training, it's important that you know it yourself, not to show others..especialy the great hung gar kuen.
you guys are both way too stiff. too much force against force in this vid. One has to learn to take advantage of the force presented. Lack of footwork makes this kind of hand play even worse for me to watch as hung gar has so much to do with bodywork and I see none (or very little of it) in play, here. keep at it.
@nomamao also, this shows very little of the short power apparent in hung gar's hand work. there's so much missing from this when speaking in terms of hung gar.

if this garbage is considered sparring, then mma fighters can take to the skies.
