I saw them last night when they played in Hoboken. They were great, and I went wild dancing when this song came on. It was so quiet between songs, so I had a chance to scream a thank you to them for coming to Jersey. Xiu Xiu fans aren't very dance-y people.

Xiu Xiu (Shoe-Shoe) is Chinese, it's what mothers say to their children if they fall and hurt themselves.

The closest English equivalent would be "hush hush" or "there there"

@GodLovesCigars I dunno how everyone thinks it sounds like xiu sounds like shoe. It's much closer to show. Also, having lived in China, and speaking Chinese, I have never heard of this. Potentially because I have never had a Chinese family, but mostly because I think that's a crock. Even if that is true (why my consulting all my Chinese dictionaries and a few on the net leads me to believe it is not) they are named after a very depressing film, and not this phrase.
