  • One of the best, most powerful, live performances I've ever witnessed. Like many of her live performances, her voice seems to make the musical instruments useless. Genius.

  • Back then, if she didn't have her music she wouls have imploded. Did she anyway? Oh, growingt up is hard. I know.

  • This is a beautiful song, but very fucked up. An example of a bad relationship and no one tried. What BS.

  • Amazing song and performance...she's truly one of a kind.

  • for starlet_Luver

  • @VisionsofAliceTV i know you don't love me anymore

  • Utterly amazing. Nobody has a voice even close. One that can be ass kickingly angry and yet heartbreakingly tender. Simply the best.

  • A great song and live version. The song often reminds me of a rocked up version of Ravel's "Bolero" with vocals. Amazing!

  • Not Found

  • The best live performace that I already saw in my life.

  • Magnific. Simply That.

  • she's an uncontroversial lass, three times married, doesn't appear on many of her award ceremonies, generally unreliable, but a great artists

  • The Devil in Sinead, sure knows a good time to rear itself, don't ya think?

She must be an Angel! What a performance! I could watch this over and over, her energy is so precise! MOAB if I ever saw one!

Thank you Sinead, for your ESSENCE! Thank you electricpresskit for uploading!

What an amazing reality tunnel to experience while baked on marijuana!

    ~Outward Change Begins Within~

  • Few Singers can match Sineads passion,She is a legend in the making

  • she is a great artist, difficult to take at times, but she offers a reflection of human experience that is thought provoking. stark and real. amazing.

  • @Richhookspin Kudos to that!!!!!

  • love Sinead no matter what, she's just The Woman, a little unusual look but she has a great heart and lot of love and passion.

  • Sinead...one of the very best songs she ever did. I love her.

  • @cartoonhead2 no, im referring to her saying she was a lesbian which she retracted because it was a lie. she has said she was retiring from the music business and didnt. its like she says and does stuff for the shock value and then gets shocked at the negative outcome. love her 1st 2 albums but her antics made her look kind of desperate for attention than anything else.

  • She's not lesbian, I don't remember than she ever say that.

  • @elserso1 she "came out" in an interview in an american gay magazine. i want to say it was in the early 2000s but dont remember exactly when. then in typical sinead fashion she retracted it. i think it is mentioned in her wikipedia page. maybe you can find the source and year there.

  • DAMN GIRL!!

  • Sinead's a Banshee...the octaves this woman can belt out is amazing

  • ....shes fucking bald.

  • this version is so trippy...don't know how I feel about it yet.

  • those two simple chords yet astouning voice!!! wow -she's so unique..and the shaved head is so gorgeous..

  • everything in music is for all

  • rock me so hard,darlin'

  • Gulp....wow.

  • Fucking Epic!!!

  • It's EASY to bare your emotions in front of an audience: In fact, it's a cheap shot, and artists do it all the time with barely an effect. It's HARD to be an an original and do it it like Sinead O'Connor. Astounding.

  • An outstanding vocalist, like none other. One of my favorite performers ever.

  • Only a very few pass through this existence. She is one of the gifted ones. See her for what she is. Special. I not only see her but I feel her.

  • She's amazing.

  • Where's a video clip of her tearing up a picture of the prophet Mohamid? That would be real gutsy..

  • Not fur the men? But baby tha men payed so those women could get in and hear ya !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She's brilliant. I love the way she sings and plays with such wild abandon. And a 12 string no less. everyone who plays guitar knows how hard is is to master 6 strings.

What else to say? Just brilliant!!

  • This is amazing.

  • actually, this song IS for this man.

no man alive is as vicious as my ex-wife of 13 years.

no matter what this sexist says.

  • the snl version is much better...in fact it is one of the most intense heartfelt things ever on tv, period.

  • fantastic, love her emotionality.....need to see her in person b/4 I die.

  • I shiver when I see her sing and hear this particular live version!! Such a superb singer and great performer. Authentic.

  • it's not for the man ,It's for the woman

  • she is the great lady I've seen

  • This version is out of control awesome. She never sold out, and I admire her for that.

  • She was/is brilliant. There was nothing like her before or after. I knew lots of girls who had crushes on her. She could even turn ABBA's "Chiquatita" into a sad Irish song.

  • Nothing, nothing in this world compares to you, Sinead! I love you, and I always will !

  • i now know how to spell tomato

  • not for the men, this is for the women. horrible cow. I'd throw a tomato at her.

  • not for the men, this is for the women. horrible cow. I'd throw a tomatoe at her.

  • lesbian music........

  • @chessfun this was written for a man. she still dates men. geez.

  • @sp4eva1 ah well...you cant win em all...but she should grow her hair and get a pair of tits to stop looking too lesbian

  • @chessfun that's part of her "genius": she wanted to avoid all "sexual cliches" in her image.

Her music was amazing.. I don't care what anyone says. That voice kicks a** and no one can deny that. Plus, her songs were profound and beautiful--she was on the cover of RollingStone THREE times in just 2 years, at the peak of her fame. Back in the early 90s, that was quite a feat ;)

  • @chessfun I guess if she did so, you could grow a set of balls?

  • @marcusliciniusad i am not saying i wouldnt kick her outta bed, she looks quite sexy for a lesbian, i am just saying, she ought to tart herself up a bit..

  • One of my favorite songs of all time. Simply beautiful and inspiring.

  • "This is not for the men, it's for the women..."

  • my favorite song of sinead!!!! and the most passionate version everr...I LOVE U SINEAD

  • @prettykiray yes. I've listened to it millions of time since I discovered it in 1997...

  • @sp4eva1 --thanks a lot..you love sinead too??? i dont know someting about this song im so attached.... but really she is brathtaking---just look at her

  • Count how many women there are playing these days standing up belting out her OWN music in front of a crowd. How we still treat strong women like her makes me sick to be male sometimes.

  • she is just so beautiful and passionate

  • Beautiful, amazing song on the album - but this angry, screaming bitch version doesn't work at all.

    - Brother Ron

  • I miss Sinead so much. THIS was a fabulous album and probably my favorite cut of of that album. Saw her twice that tour.....ahhhhh brings back great memories.

  • for the women who need to get rid of their shite partners ie for tony

  • @daffodil97 sorry bout tony!!!! this girl is of her head, but still stunningly beautiful 2me

  • SIN PALABRAS

  • I LOVE THIS WOMAN!!!! Incredible voice, incredible performance, incredible song!

  • i think the most underrated female voice ever, awsome song and boy has she got presence. I will always have time for this girl, cheers for posting !

  • What an stupid sentence: This is not for the men...

    Poor woman.

  • @gernikako100 She said "This is not for the men. This is for the women."

  • @blockela I understood it. But I´m not agree with her. She was a fanatic. with a very radical words and poses (breaking photos etc) I like some of her songs, but not at all her way of thinking. Thanks blockela for your help and sorry for my very bad english

  • @gernikako100 Ok!

  • @gernikako100 i have to agree with you. her 1st 2 albums were brilliant but she destroyed her career with her antics and shenanigans and lies. if she didnt partake in her actions of shock value she would have gone far. such a shame.

  • @fundies2 yea. she was brilliant... she was about to become "the voice of her generation" really.

  • thank you michelle

  • @cunnilicker Of course you're right, but I can't take you seriously with a name like that.

  • fuckin get chills watching this...I'm speechless...amazing!

  • NOTHING compares to Sinead.

  • i think i was singing this in sallys monday night!!!

  • CHILLS!!!!!!!

  • You don't see performances like that too often in your life.

Makes today's singer/songwriters look like amateurs.

  • i cried to her performance here..love you sinead.....conratulations on your wedding today morning with Steve Cooney!!!! go for happiness girl!!!

  • i love Sinead

  • @led14216 --yeas we love her... she just got married...

  • I have all her records. I remember the summer I bought the first on in the 80's. Beautiful voice :)

  • she is one of my favs

  • sooo fantastic

  • Ok, let's think. Sinead plays guitar . . . I play guitar. Sinead writes songs . . . I write songs. Sinead's has an incredible voice . . . that's the problem. So much for being like Sinead.

  • I love her sooooo much....she's amazing.....so unique...

  • I love her.

  • Her interview with Oprah is amazing. She's human, she has a sad emotional disease. She is so regular and it's wonderful to see.

  • I was in my late teens when her "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got" album came out and I bought it right away. I thought that she was hot and I always loved listening this song. When my ex and I split, I cranked this up because it rang to how I felt.

  • I feel sorry for people have astonishingly never listened to her music.

Whenever I meet someone like that, I can't help but PITY them. LOL!!!!

  • I still say this is the best early period ( 1987-93 ) performance.

  • the best!!!! the best!!!!! of Sinead's song...her lyrics are powerful

  • j'adore.

  • Sinnead is the real deal ...

Shaved nut and doc martins ...

    Rebel ... Rebel ...

  • GD she has a VOICE!!!!! There is one talent on Am Idol, Sheboyn who I would love to see if she could do Nothing Compares To You. I think she could. She is an original like Sinead. Only reason I watch.

  • Love the Raw fucking talent that Sinead projects. There is no1 on the music scene today that even comes close to the true, emotional, raw talent. So sad that people are so uptight and shunned her for protesting the pope. I thought we were free to be able to express our opinions. Well here's mine..... Yea Sinead and fuck the pope!!!

  • one of the best songs ever written by sinead....and one of my favorites....

    this is so dramatic....

    the emotions are great!!!!

    she's awesome....

  • it really doesnt get any better than this...

  • I love you to pieces Sinead-- bless you! and your beautiful kids...4 adorable kids...we love you sinead keep singing for us...to heal...

  • this song made me so weak and helpless to love sinead more....she's awesome!!!!! she wrote this song from the heart...from her emotions...thank you sinead for sharing your feelings...

  • .........einfach Geil !!!!

  • God, I loooove this song!! I had totally forgotten about it until I came across it here on YT.

She is an incredibly talented singer with powerful lyrics. Simply awesome.

    Thanks for uploading!

  • I love this song.....

Wendy Fielding.... I still love you 22 years on..xxx

  • this is a very nice song written by Sinead.....sooooo dramatic...and she sang it with passion..Love it

  • I'm a man, and this song always hit me hard. Whatever Sinead intended when she wrote it, I didn't feel it as exclusively "the woman's perspective" versus the man's. It's one of the best rock songs about the end of a love/marriage/whatever. Let's face it: the end of a love always hurts, whether you're a man or a woman. I first heard this soon after I got dumped by a girl I loved. I played it endlessly for weeks. Now happily married, I still find the song incredibly powerful.

  • @moondough

    Well put good sir.

This is in my top 3 songs of all time. I went hrough the same sort of issues and this is one of the songs that gave me some solace.

  • @moondough

Another man here, too, who can fully relate (too well) to this song. When you're on the receiving end of a relationship you believed in coming to a screeching halt, with no chance of saving it, the pain is beyond belief & beyond description. It makes a death in the family look like a day at the beach. Sinead shows us the universal hell all of us go through when we are subjected to this experience. 13 years after my marriage ended, most of the pain's gone but the scars remain.

  • i love this song ...i love this song...... sooo adorable sinead

  • I dedicate this song to all Shit-people who hurt me...its not about the releationship but The way you left me alone....this is for you MF

  • she has a dimpled-smile---love that smile at 0:29....she's so adorable

  • I like your stuff. But why must you take a few moments to seperate your audiance by male and female? Oh so you can bleed all over the place sorry. Like no woman ever hurt a man. But feel free to take a few to perpetuate the abuse. From one nut to another.

  • she has a song also written for a man..TROY- a very dramatic song written by sinead when she was just 16...she's awesome

  • That's not fair. Read the lyrics, listen to the vocalizations. She takes a moment to address the women because of what the song is.

If you want a man's take on the subject, listen to the White Stripes cover "I just don't know what to do with myself"

  • Yea ok but wow the men couldnt relate? Maybe she said that sos the men would perk up the ears.

  • yeah, i think you got it now...and yes, we can relate :)

  • PS: Just admire than she can convey the emotion as well as she does.

  • she feeds my soul everyday...I watch her to relax me...after a days hard work.... LOVE YOU SINEAD!!!!!!

  • love the song

but i never could understand her intro

    this song has no gender

    believe it

  • davekat -she wrote it for all to relate...Its life....she wrote it so dramatic...you could feel all her experiences...love her...

  • i miss the old sinead but she is a very good mother now...with four adorable kids... with a very handsome son hhhmmmm cute...and the eyes are all from her....love you sinead to pieces!!!

  • I love you sinead

  • OK. Time to vote. The people in the audience singing the "oh ho ho"'s: Annoying or cute?

  • cute...for me..he he he

  • as with most things that can go either way, at first my vote went for annoying. I have this on DVD. But it changed to cute.

  • ha ha ha yep right...do you love sinead too??? as much as we love her???

  • something told me to check your home page before answering you. ha ha! I was right to do so. Yes I do love Sinead, but mainly her first two albums. yeah, I'm 40 and i use the term 'album'. Sinead's music is part of what I consider the 'variety' section of what I like. For me, it's mostly classic rock of the 60's and 70s. Don't get me wrong, her music moves me just as much as the other stuff I mentioned. But it's restricted to The Lion & The Cobra and I Do Not Want.....

  • wa ha ha ha im crazy about her....sooooo bad.....i want to live in IRELAND if i can....but im working right now in the Middle East Dubai ha ha ha

  • full of passion and artistic acting with the song--perfect!!!!!

    I love you sinaed

  • the drummer is her first husband John Reynolds....how cool.....

notice sinead always go there in ront of the drum set...ha ha ha

  • they say in the interview in Oprah she claimed that she was really depressed already during these times....from Mandinka song....from then on she got depressed...good she has two bestfriends that cared for her so unconditionally....

love you sinead for your music....

YOu are sooooo fucking gorgeous too--I admire you so much

  • She so deserves to smile...love her !!

  • I love this!!!!

  • most beautiful voice in the world.

  • most beautiful and most lovely smile --like an angel--i love her despite the ctiticisms she got.,,i dont care she's great

  • @rebekahbowe I saw her do a solo show/acoustic show in Toronto in the late 80's ...utterly amazing,

  • Good Lord mueller she is an artist writing about a past personal experience which is what usually inspires .... dont be such a puss ...... mkeanwhile Sinead is awesome been a fan forever!

  • Sinead... I Love You!

  • LOVE IT! YOU ROCK SINEAD!!!

  • LOL! @ 2:33 !! ohmygod, so funny!! Rock on Sinead! Best version of this song--ever!

  • ha ha ha i heard that you also her banging her chest and head with her heand>????? ha ha ha you rock sinead!!!!

  • this is the best ever version, of the best ever song this woman has ever made....

this reminds me of the woman that I have only ever really, really loved.......

    This is for you Wendy...xxxx

  • WTF this is the most raw version of the most cleansing poetry I know - why isn't this woman's work recognised for just how briliant she is - derided by the media in the 90's like amy winehouse in the 00's

  • Can anyone listen to this song, this voice, the words.. and NOT b blown away???? So powerful and real. And beautiful.

  • I feel a deep cut in Sinead's heart with this SAD song..I feel for her no matter how long it's been. No person needs what was taken from her..and I'm a Man. I would search the World over to find a Woman with her Spirit and Absolute Beauty! She deserves SO much more as do all who have gone through what this WOMAN has! Love you Sinead! Keep your head up!

  • This is the most passionate version of this song I've ever seen or heard. She performed it almost exactly like this on SNL one time. I caught that appearance on VHS and kept it for years. So glad to see it again here. It's now on my favorites list.

  • Any one whose been through a divorce can relate to this on so many levels.

    This is true art.

  • freak it out!!!

  • Does anyone know the words to the extra verse?

  • Well, let me tell you that

You were no lifeline to me

I drown in pain and misery

You did nothing to stop me

Now I'm drowning on self pity

  • you wrote the text wrong.. the last line is

Now drown in your own self pity

  • Hurt, rage and triumph so finely tuned; only Sinead could do this.

  • great bonus verse after the drums kick in - fantastic and ferocious version!

  • The raw emotions she is sharing with us is unbelievable..the anger, pain and sorrow in her voice is amazing..this song was payback..big time..and a kind of therapy for her..not many people get such a chance to hit back like that..good on her!!!

  • this is not for the men this is for the woman in 1990 this song changed my life this song can be for the men to god bless you sinead x

  • This is amazing!!!

  • why's this one just for the girls my ex was very similar :)

  • This has to be the best ever performance of this track

  • I wonder why she is shaved^^

  • Amazing song and performance.

    10 stars.

  • This is my most favorite version of this song. Sinead was singing frantically and really expressed the deepest kind of broken feeling. Aweful!!! I hope I can sing like her, I mean singing frantically, wreak out. Great performance!!!

  • 2:25 to 2:36... "and we will meet latter to finalize the F*CKING details" GOD! That was amazing... the whole performance!!! I have this song live from Saturday Night Live... but on VCR! :(
