I thought it was the artists choice...Anyway,I was also surprised & disappointed from some I thought always singing LIVE...It was actually a pre-recorded LIVE they lip-synched & the illusion was perfect.In this Cathy case,we can hear she sings really LIVE since some notes are pretty bad when she says "for you and meeeee"...lol But she was a real pro!

Yes by 1990 after a flood of complaints, TOTP had to finally react to accusations of unecessary cheating (artists never singing live) and insist they all did. Which means people like Madonna, Mariah Carey, Oasis and the Spice Girls would soon even more hideous sadly. Still no one HAS to put them in the charts!
