Apparently the Beatles called Joe in after hearing how he transformed the Ringo "joke" song from Seargeant Pepper, "With A Little help for My Friends" into an eight minute vocal tour deforce. George played Joe "Something" and said "You can have that." When Paul played "Golden Slumbers." John acerbicly told Joe, "You're not having that!" I think Joe's version on Mad Dogs is not only the best he did but the best anyone has done - full of anguish and power.
