The Civic 2.0 puts out 197hp at 7800rpm, 139ft-lb at 6100rpm. The G5 GT's 2.4 puts out 171hp at 5800rpm and 167ft-lb at 4500rpm. Thats only a difference of 26hp, and the 2.0 has to go 1700rpm higher before it hits that peak. Meanwhile the G5 GT has 28 more Ft-LB that come on 1600rpm sooner then the Civics torque peak. In a race, by the time the Civic hits its Torque peak, that the G5 GT has already gone through its torque peak and reached its hp peak and is about to take second gear.

Torque wins races. High revving "vtech" power is hardly usable at all. And if you try and use it have fun replacing your piston rings at 50k. Some people are so diluted, do some research before yapping your mouth. The G5 GT is alot more "fun to drive" day to day because you can hit a torque peak that pulls you in your seat without revving the hell out of the motor.

I never said the G5 was faster, and you are acting like having a bigger motor is a bad thing when they get the same economy as each other. The only reason the civic is faster anyways is because it has a 6 speed and the g5 only has a 5 speed. I have driven both and although in the top end on the drag strip and civic puts down a better time, on the street the g5 gt is alot more fun to drive since it has usable power. Anyone can "cam up" a motor and push the power band up.

@likestrucks Nah...the G5 with the 2.4 VVT never really pulls until 4k'ish and when it does it doesn't really net anything out of revving past 5 grand. They are light though so great potential is already there. I find the new Si' never really feels fast, even in Vtec it just doesn't FEEL fast.

Stock 08 G5 GT 5spd and 08 Cobalt Sport 5 spds have gone 14.9. thats spot on with the current SI's and ontop of that Chevy still has a higher Turbo Cobalt which just simply mops the floor with your precious SI.
