  • This is the first I've seen this...Gives me chills, she still has it. I was 15 in 1975 when the first Patti Smith LP was released and I heard Gloria and have been hooked ever since. "Radio Ethiopia" is still my personal favorite. But her and Janis set the tone for me in female rock vocals. Thanks for uploading this. Amazing.

  • so brillant! my godess.

  • Her music iss so heartfelt. She is not pretty but beautiful.

  • First aid kit have done the best cover of this ever!!! watch it

  • SHe'll always have it! Who is playing guitar for her? He's fantastic. He's young and he gets it.

  • If you like this song you should watch the cover by First Aid Kit, when they play for Patti Smith

  • What a artist!!!

  • I love her

  • O

    i

    Fell

    You!

  • Eventhough it lacks the original final poem at the end, this song remains the best tale ever told about The Love Story between God and His Creature, which was fulfilled trough the Holy Spirit in the Blessed among women, the Holy Virgin. Blessed be the Mother of the Divine Mercy.

  • I thought, cracker, from pink flamingos passed away. I didnt know he could play the guitar.

  • What's Jimmy Saville doing there? (-;

  • stanley unwin@the poofish

  • The guitarist is Oliver Ray.

  • Saw her in a small concert venue on the campus of George Washington University, in DC, something like 1975, right after the Horses album came out.

My girlfriend and I were something like 10-15 feet away from her.

Best convert I ever went to.

  • Source of inspiration, guidance and love. Such a great artist, she has changed my life.

  • I LOVE Patti! I saw her back when Horses first came out, and 3 times in the last 3 years, and she's still a completely hypnotic, riveting performer, just brilliant!

  • She reminds me of my old English teacher

  • Prefer Simple Minds and U2's versions

  • I like the way she moves her arms when she sings, it really makes you go into what she is saying. I just finished her new book after going to her concert here in Spain. I'm addicted to her art.

  • My name is also Patrycja i found your book excellent really really good i wisch more

  • The Ugly Goddess Poet. This woman saved my life with her songs from God. I can't say enough. Please let there be a special place in the Cosmos for people like this. Namaste.

  • @fairmountfairy

Ugly Goddess Poet? That's a backasswards compliment if ever I heard one...

  • @fairmountfairy

    ugly?? GET STUFFED!!!

  • @BaronessStrange :Take it up your BUTT - you need the stuffin' sister!!!!!!!!Creashonrebel@yahoo.com

  • me fascinan estar versiones "unplugged" de artistas de la talla de Patti, a pesar de que prefiero la original

  • Patti's so sensual

  • @MmeLEnfer She is magnetic in person. Captivating. Not surprisingly :)

  • @wildh0rse You're lucky to have met her! :)

  • @MmeLEnfer Yes I am very lucky. She influenced my own compostions greatly and I didnt have a chance to tell her that. Thanks, Patti....

  • I hate how looksist people are. I find her to have a face with the world written on it. I've never seen a face that tells a story more. Completely entrances me. Truly talented and wise to boot.

The "Tweens" run music now, so we have no I don't know...talent, anymore.

You want to know what we have? Glorified prostitutes+Miley Cyrus and Brain dead flash in the pans=Justin Beiber

God, please let music come back!

  • @84ccipollini Pop will always be there. It's up to you to find good music. You'd be surprised how much there is. Just because the talented artists are not popular does not mean they're not there.

  • whats the fuss that michigan weather is hard on people

  • Douches the opposition here. Nice.

  • Nothing but the greatest poetry from the Ugly Goddess of Rock.

  • @JenCelli

That was the most backasswards compliment of all time.

  • Pati, I love you !!

  • Patti can still bring it

  • In the midst of this slice of heaven,

she is zipping her fly at 1:07!!!!!

  • one of the best...

  • Patti introduced by Stanley Unwin...a girl could ask for no more!!!

  • Gosh she's sexy as hell in an androgenous sort of way,in her 60's long hair, barefoot+a guitar...my kind of girl

  • ......a fortune in lies......world without a word.....lose my sense of gravity......

  • authentic!

  • Who is the accompanying guitarist in this video? He is also in the SNL set.

  • ADHEMIROS, dude...it is not about mtv stars, realize it.

    ffs.

  • true true

  • She is a goddess. if you've ever had the chance to see her in concert, your life is changed, or it's not worthy of changing.

  • She is a goddess.

  • I can't believe this woman, excuse me, this Goddess stood two feet away from me just few hours ago. I will be forever amazed.

I LOVE YOU PATTI! You're the greatest artist alive.

  • not so sure about the 'guns' part - but yes patti is inspiration - 'some strange music draws me in ,,,,,'

  • Bloody great to see a rebel who's stuck to her guns the whole way through. Gives one hope.

  • She makes me thrill.

  • I survived the UK from 80 to 86 thanks to Patti Smith :)

  • loved her music for thirty years better than anything then or now

  • Great song by a great artist. This has been covered so many times, and the only cover that gives it any justice imo is the version by The Mission. Althought the youtube versions are poor. Buzz me if you wanna hear it, and i'll send it for you :-)

  • hehe...looks like someone has missed U2's cover of this ...:)))

  • Actually, you're right, U2's version is a very good version, but I do think Wayne Hussey's voice does it better for me. More mystical sounding.

  • Wayne who?

  • Wayne Hussey, you hussey! :-) Lead singer of The Mission or The Missionuk if you're outside the UK

  • Yes, as I said..., Wayne who?

  • You Hussey!

  • fucking awesome!!!

  • Oh God I Feel For You! Perfection!

  • Lovin' Patti.

Any idea who the comedian is right at the start of this clip?

  • Stanley Unwin, taken from a tribute to Steve Marriot of the Small Faces. Stan (the man) narrated the SF's album Ogdens Nut Gone Flake. I think it makes a cool intro so stick it on vids I post.

  • Sweet, thanks very much for the explanation. He's one of those people I just couldn't have put a name to in 1000 years, but guaranteed it would've bugged me that whole time!

  • @artrock3d

Actually, it's one of the most annoying intros I've found on YouTube. I build playlists and it's REALLY annoying over and over. So, I no longer add your stuff because it's SOOOO annoying.

  • @thepoofish GROUCHO MARX

  • i'm dancing barefoot, etc. but the comments, eek.

thanks for posting. do love/relate to patti's music. oh god i fell ,,,,,

  • This song makes me masturbate to the movie; "Foxfire". Angelina f*cking awesome!

  • This makes me want to do some drugs :)!

  • im already smoking a joint :)

  • no you're not, stop bullshitting.

  • patti really is the ants pants...

  • She's unique!!

  • she's cool as sh*t

  • Heroin

  • The guitar is great on this song but Patti could have carried it alone.

  • There isn't a musician of any significant merit and grit that doesn't worship the life work of this woman. SHE is simply the most important female artist of her time, and perhaps well beyond. I don't forsee anyone with more creative substance, emotive range-from outrage & indignation to peaceful unifier/ and transcendent spiritual grace than Patti.

  • Patti is so good. She is the female Mick Jagger. Love ya' Patti and love ya' Mick too.

  • Over the years she has remained one of my favorite artist ; the guy in the beginning says the same thing on ogden's nut gone flake by the small faces anybody know who he is

  • Stanley Unwin is his name and the clip was taken from a documentary on the Small Faces.

  • thank you man, that has been bugging me for years by the way Ogden's Nut Gone Flake is my favorite album as far as the small faces go. They must have been stoned out of their minds when they did it

  • Great Video!!!!

    Love the Queen patti!!!!

    Amazing- awesome
