Lorraine Kelly was and still is HOT ! I remember I was going through puberty at the time she first showed her face on TV...Ah those moments I spent alone in front of the TV!
A little fact for you, the last 30 seconds of TV-am's broadcast from 31/12/92 was a promo for GMTV. Apparently they were ran a few times during TV-am's last fortnight on air. Don't forget STV used to be a shareholder in GMTV, so thats free promotion for them.
Really?! Those points I never knew! So, TV-am goes off air on New Year's Eve '92... and then GMTV sweeps in, as if to kill what was left of the TV-am legacy. I take it then STV aren't shareholders in GMTV anymore? As you might know, the STV news service during GMTV was replaced some time ago by a 'GMTV Scotland' news service. Thanks for that info! You really DO learn things everyday!!!
STV sold their share in GMTV to ITV sometime in 2004, ITV have 75%, Disney have the rest. I think by this point TV-am weren't too bothered, the company was still making record profits and so on, so when they wound down the company alot of staff got a fair share of the money. They weren't too bitter to promote GMTV, which is completely the opposite between Thames and Carlton, Thames didn't want to show Carlton promos but the ITC forced them to do so.
Yeah, I've seen reports from the 1991 auction and I remember seeing Bruce Gyngell being slightly bitter to say the least about the loss - but, as you say, by Dec 1992, the bitterness was weakened. As for the Thames point, I can see their point. Did LWT show Carlton promos? I'm not sure if they ever did.
What a great breakfast show TV-AM was. They don't do breakfast shows like that anymore. Mike Morris and Lorraine Kelly were brilliant!
What a theme tune as well. Brings back some many memories of being young!

I liked Mike Morris, it's a shame that he was never on GMTV.

Much better than that Tennis player and Kate Garraway. Lorriane and Mike had real chemistry.

I thought it was funny that we are welcomed to Scottish TV and then the first add is of a child in an England Football Top.
Made me smile, but don't get the worng idea. I'm not putting Scotland or England down. So please don't leave nasty messages.

How oddly cruel... no sooner has TV-am gone off air for the day when a GMTV promo comes on the air.
