7:57 this is not the last time this happens here either. it happened again in an almost duplicate of the crash except this time it happened during bush series practice in 2002 to Mike Harmon. something tells me they gotta figure something else out for that access road.
@C0LL1N The racer hitting the outside then inside wall viciously is Brett Bodine, brother of Geoff [Who's in the red Motorcraft fire suit at Brett's door, out from a previous crash] and current NASCAR driver Todd Bodine.
Brett is now the current Sprint Cup Series pace car driver. The owner of Brett’s green #26 Buick Regal was NHRA drag racing champion Kenny Bernstein. They teamed together for 4 years.
I've seen the car from Michael Waltrip's Bristol crash; it was in the Bristol Motor Speedway Museum / Visitor's Center / Gift Shop / Ticket Office when the building first opened. It's hard to recognize it as a car and even harder to believe he got out unhurt. Same goes for Mike Harmon's similar crash more recently.
The MX-er is Gary Wells, one very lucky guy. Gary missed the down ramp and veered into a solid concrete wall, tossing him left to the ground where he and the bike should have traveled once off the down ramp.
Gary nearly died with a torn aorta [Heart], fractures to the pelvises, and fractures to both lower legs. He fully recovered to ride again five months later. The accident was due to the down ramp being moved without his approval hours before the jump.
WOW - thanks. I like the music, too. Most dislike my choice of songs for this video. You're one of the few that DO like the songs and I do thank you for your support. Ya made me smile. Cheers.
Those are IMSA Camel GT Prototypes... That was at Watkins Glen in 1991. I remember it well, because I was there and wished Tommy Kendall good luck before the race. He broke both legs in that crash. Ever since then, I never wish a driver good luck before a race. Later that year in the Cup race there, JD McDuffie died in a crash in that same turn, leading to the inner loop on the back stretch.
Many believe any song can be used in Youtube videos. Not the case. Copywrite laws limit what song can be and cannot be used. Youtube pulls videos within hours if Copywrite laws are broken. There are few if any usable contemporary songs. It's either the music I have or nothing.
I wish my choice of music was pleasing to every person clicking play. Obviously it bothers most. Oh well. I like the music used. It fits the era of crash footage shown.
Truly was a miracle he lived let alone receive no injuries. Every time I watch the crash I still watch in amazement. Great moment in NASCAR for various reasons.
the AC/DC playing over and over and over and over and over at the end there was annoying as hell. please change that. otherwise, the video was great. and +1 for Bristol before they made it pavement. you rarely ever see that.
Absolutely some of the best footage I've seen,and I've watched probably hundreds of these compilations.Best video quality,rare footage,old and new.The only problem...the music.Sorry.Otherwise, A+++,5 star material.Thanks.
Thank you for the kind words. Had all my old VHS tapes full of races I videotaped and thought I'd make a few vids. Sorry about the music. I guess I'm a product of the 1980s.
You made me smile. Thank you. I very much appreciate your kind words.
There are "no" fatalities in either of the three "Race Crashes, Tumbles 'n' Falls" video series. I would never show fatal crashes. I wouldn't feel right doing that.
All drivers and riders in the videos recovered from their injuries -- if receiving any injury at all -- to race again another day. A scant few chose retirement.
Hi. Yes, I do have full audio of Michael's Bristal bash.
However, my worn-out, prehistoric VCR is on it's last legs. It's audio output isn't working. On top of that my computer is being stubborn, too. I added music to the vids (While making the vids over the past month) to makeup for my VCR's frustrating sound demise.
Had the audio worked when I made these videos, the race audio would have been incorporated, too.
its good
you shoud do more videos about rally

@sportsguruisme As a DW fan, it was always enjoyable to see Rusty fail to win. It still bothers me Rusty spun DW during the '89 all-star race.

Any info on the wreck at Daytona at 5:15?
freshgeek89 3 years ago
The car drifting up from the apron to the outer wall, catching fire after being hit by Michael McLaughlin, then Ernie Irvan, is Bobbie Labonte.
The fire wasn't too serious. Not too much was made of Labonte's flaming Oldsmobile during post-race interviews.
The big topic about the lap 1, turn #3 crash was its large number - 15 involved, 11 did not return. The Goodies 300 Busch race.
Thanks for inquiring.
