I pulled over and started smelling like something burning I decided to turn around and go back to the shop but once I found out that the smell is coming from the engine I shut the engine off and got off the car.I walked back to the shop and I found the oil filter in the middle of the road. my car has only 23K on it and I bought it brand new.
I don't know about all jiffy lubes, but I have lived in L.A. and In Sacramento and have changed my oil at jiffy lube forever. Night and day from L.A. to Sacramento. I have never had any problems since I moved up North.
the last time i went into jiffy lube they told me i needed a new airfilter on my 6month old ford 550 that i had installed a K&N filter on about a month before i went in for the old change K&N filter cost about 3 x a regular one but if you take care of the filter it will b the last one you buy that was about 6 years ago and i havent been to a jiffy lube sense

i've known this about lube job places forever. it nice to see someone calling these places out for what they are.They figure if youre not willing to do something as simple as an oil change, youre not going to know anything about your car.Sears got busted for this years ago.if you have no choice,take your car to a guy you trust and know is responsible.I always change my oil.Bit of a pain, but almost a sure thing,getting screwed at these places.

jiffy lube sucks, i have a brand new tahoe and i took it in for a oil change and they told me that all my fluids were mixed wrong and that my air filter needed to be changed, i was like, brand new car off the dealership. this place is a scam. nothning but wannabe tech's and hoodlum moron's wrk there.
I went once and well, that will be the first and last time. Although they changed my oil as requested, they also brought me into the shop to show me my air filter. The air filter they showed me was all beat up and nasty. I recall looking at my air filter a month prior, and it was definitely not in that bad a shape. I'm convinced they swapped the air filter in an attempt to sell me a new one.
I said no thanks and I drove down the street and bought an air filter for 1/3 the price.
Jiffy lube is not the only culprit. They were just the only company investigated. It's very hard to find a trustworthy shop. Best thing is to have a little car knowledge, and do the simple things like fluid and filter changes yourself
i find it funny that they aways go after the chain shop or the mom and pops places. i want to see them do it to a dealership thats where the real rip offs are. i used to work for a few and there was some fucked up shit going on at all of them.

That wasn't the fuel filter he marker, that is the fuel pressure regulator. The fuel strainer is located inside the tank at the bottom of the sender unit.

I brought my "75 Blazer to Russell Automotive in Lafayette Colorado and told them that after they replaced the ignition switch that I also needed work on my '98 Taurus. I got the Blazer back with loose bolts on the steering wheel, hanging wires over the brake pedal and a broken signal light switch. I'm fixing the Taurus myself.
This is one of many reasons I change my oil my damn self and have a large investment in tools and scanners to fix my own problems. It also helps to have a mechanic you know and trust. If you have to have repairs from strangers, demand to see the defective part or parts intact after vehicle is torn down so you know your getting the labor you pay for.
The problem is the quotas created by people who never turn a wrench. They demand shops sell a certain number of services, regardless of whether their an actual demand for them. If a mechanic's job is on the line, he'd gonna do what he's got to to keep the job. Get rid of the quotas and you remove the problem. Or go to a private shop that has no quotas.
I don't understand how the attorney general as well as the United States Deptl of Commerce as well as other agencies do not prosecute these people for criminal behavior!

I went once and well, that will be the first and last time. Although they changed my oil as requested, they also brought me into the shop to show me my air filter. The air filter they showed me was all beat up and nasty. I recall looking at my air filter a month prior, and it was definitely not in that bad a shape. I'm convinced they swapped the air filter in an attempt to sell me a new one.
I said no thanks and I drove down the street and bought an air filter for 1/3 the price.

Jiffy lube is not the only culprit. They were just the only company investigated. It's very hard to find a trustworthy shop. Best thing is to have a little car knowledge, and do the simple things like fluid and filter changes yourself

That wasn't the fuel filter he marker, that is the fuel pressure regulator. The fuel strainer is located inside the tank at the bottom of the sender unit.

my buddy used to work at jiffylube in mankato minnesota. he told me they never did work but still charged hard working people for the work. he told me sometimes they would fill the oil filters with geese just to be dicks. my buddy told the district mgr and he got let go 1 month later, he was the only one to get fired out of all those who fucked with the cars. lesson......take your car to someone you trust, ask around to find the best places.

And If you just changed the filter and filled it up with grease and didn't change the oil, the car would run for about 15 minutes before it broke down, so every single customer would be coming back yelling about a broken car. I use to work at Jiffy lube and I've seen this done plenty of times. Leo was just the customer service advisor, his job was to sell the product and sometimes perform the job that was sold but the guy downstairs handles all of the lower duties and didn't do his job & Leo really didn't do anything wrong but doing his job. Jiffy lube is a joke everything is overpriced & the employees are underpaid. Glad I didn't stick around long as an 18 year old kid to take orders from 10 dollar an hour manager

I brought my "75 Blazer to Russell Automotive in Lafayette Colorado and told them that after they replaced the ignition switch that I also needed work on my '98 Taurus. I got the Blazer back with loose bolts on the steering wheel, hanging wires over the brake pedal and a broken signal light switch. I'm fixing the Taurus myself.

This is one of many reasons I change my oil my damn self and have a large investment in tools and scanners to fix my own problems. It also helps to have a mechanic you know and trust. If you have to have repairs from strangers, demand to see the defective part or parts intact after vehicle is torn down so you know your getting the labor you pay for.

The problem is the quotas created by people who never turn a wrench. They demand shops sell a certain number of services, regardless of whether their an actual demand for them. If a mechanic's job is on the line, he'd gonna do what he's got to to keep the job. Get rid of the quotas and you remove the problem. Or go to a private shop that has no quotas.

i stopped using them about 10 years ago, charged me for a full oil change and guess what!! they never replaced the oil filter. I am sorry to say this but, even car shops out there will screw you , I could almost say 80% will , before you bring your car to the mechanic ,do an extensive research on the simptoms of your broken car,and get a few estimates even your favorite mechanic of ten years some day will take a chance to screw you .Because he knows you will not question his job.
