  • Looks like I need to roll some better characters. I tried to kill those 3 wolves outside of town for like a half hour last night and they killed my party every time.

  • WHATS THE POINT WHEN YOU DON'T LET THE INTRO PLAY OR THE PEOPLE SPEAK?

  • Reminds me so much of neverwinter nights 1

  • If someone make mmorpg with such atmosphere and depth like Icewind Dale, and great pvp system like in Shadowbane, I will be in 7th heaven.

  • "A silent blade cuts best..."

  • Wow this game is Ancient! Really enjoyed it at the time...

  • That paladin isn't very smart, eh?

  • game starts at 13:22

  • When I saw that the video was 1 hour long, first thing I thought was "reroll"

  • omg that was a fast response.. haha ty.

  • How close is this to Baldur's Gate? I hear it's basically the same thing except for the NPC dialogue. Is it kind of like BG1 where your party members barely talk?

  • @Biake22 It's basically diablo + D&D. It's very combat intensive. Your party members never talk, and you roll all your characters.

  • @Biake22 So basically Baldur's gate has is more focused on the story more or less, while Icewind dale is more solely focused on combat, and like Tanit said BG has your PC's talk and you dont' roll your characters. soo yeah.

  • I remember getting this game at a garage sale. I was so fucking bad at this. -_-

  • I started playing this game again after I found it while going through all of my stuff that was damaged in a flood we had. Good times. I only made 4 characters though; Cleric (Leader), Fighter, Fighter (multi'd to thief at level 2), and a Wizard - all human. Only thing I wish I could have done is got a better strength score for the Cleric - I always forget that they can wear plate, and 12 str really isn't enough for them when it comes down to that. But other than that, it's working well.

  • is this resynched or what?

  • I named my dwarf in LOTR Dvalin!

    This game is cool!

  • i sure would like to help/ be helped with the campaign, anyone got an ip adress i can use

  • How do you get this game?

  • @JTIanEater google good old games

  • @tanit thank you so much

  • @JTIanEater acually find a new copy at the local mall today and bougth it. Didnt think you could get new once.

  • This game looks lovely. But sad enough the game is not for sale in my country anymore because it is 11 years old now. Even steam does not provide it. I found it at some online sites which i have to order from abroad. So i was going to ask if it would be appropriate to download this game since it is so old. I have the feeling they dont produce this game anymore, and all online sells are just copies or something else. Should it count as stealing if i download it? Please answer :)

  • @strontschijt

You can buy it at amazon.co.uk for a very low price too. You can get Icewind dale I and II including their expansion packs for like 10 or 13 pounds. I bought it my self in order to remember the good old days(lost the original boxed game long time ago so I had to buy it again). Hope that helps out :o)

  • RAVE: HOW do you have a game called Icewind dale with no scimitar weapon proficiency

  • Greetings from scenic Ten Towns, where the winters are brutal, the giants are hungry for your flesh, the caravans are regularly waylaid by homicidal barbarians, and all the women smell like trout. Wish you were here.

  • Ahh, i remember playing Multiplayer (thru the main campaign) with my dad, damn that was sooo long ago, and i dont even know where our copy of the game is, i just hope i will find it and be able to play it again!

  • By the Maker, a 1 hour video on YouTube? Omg...

Anyway though, best game ever :D

  • I'm thinking about buying 3-in-1 Compilation (ID 1 + HoW + ID 2). Will they run on Win7 Pro?

  • @mauriciofontes Yes, works fine for me.

  • @mauriciofontes I'd suggest buying from GOG.com, has no DRM and the games are specifically made to be compatible with modern systems so even games that no longer run on Vista or Win 7 will run if downloaded from GOG.com

  • Best RPG ever!

  • I got a problem, when i press "new game" on multiplayer it crashes!

I patched what i could find and still i got this problem, i would apreciate if someone could help me get a patch that solvesthis or some hints where to get something like that.

    Thanks

  • @Nemesis94PT When does it crash?

  • @tanit It crashes precisely when i got all set to go and when I press "new game" boom, all goes black.

  • @Nemesis94PT Host the game in windowed mode, then maximize once you get in game.

  • @tanit Thanks, works fine :D

  • @Nemesis94PT Run it in Compatibility mode with Windows XP Service Pack 2, with administrator privileges. I had the same problem, but that fixed it.

  • @bjmensz Problem is i got Win7 :/

  • jeremy soule made perfect soundtrack for the Knights of the old republic series. can it be said that he's work is as good as that in this video game

  • I cannot wait to get my new Alienware, I will be re-playing every black isle game. I have them all, but this pc has a screwed hard drive.

  • Is Hrothgar voiced by the same actor as Minsc?

  • Howcome all your characters regained full life at about the 35.40 minute mark? Was i the Bards song ?

  • What's the difference between this and Baldur's Gate? Just a different story? I've also heard this has much less of a focus on dialog, and more on combat, is that true?

  • @Chucklehead451 More action. More old school D&D feel. You make your entire party (don't pick up heroes).

  • Can I play this game on a modern laptop? Or will I have to get old video cards?

Someone please answer, I'm talking about a laptop with windows 7 with a descent memory and video card

  • @iFullMetalJacket You should be fine - I am running this on my desktop, which is quite modern.

  • @tanit alright! thanks for the quick reply

  • @iFullMetalJacket it's not a problem. i actually play icewind dale on my laptop, which has windows 7 and decent specs.

  • I've just bought the triple pack of these games, but I'm not going to start playing until I've finished reading the Icewind Dale trilogy books by R. A. Salvatore.

I'm only on the first book and it's really fun and exciting so far. :)

  • How does the mp actually work? Yeah i know this is a old game but i still have to finish it and since i've raised with Baldur's Gate and games like that i have to do it but if i can play the whole thing with my bro that would be cooler :)

  • @Margalus89 Its exactly like Baldur's Gate MP - it's the entire game, except in multiplayer. No different.

  • @tanit still can't figure how some things works. I mean, in the sp game you can pause action with the spacebar to prepare the spells/attacks. Can you do it in MP? Plus, if i save and quit will i be able to play again adding some players that didn't play in the first place?

  • @Margalus89 #1. There are settings to decide who can pause, by default only the host can. But when me and my friends played we let anyone pause. #2. Yes, the saved game allows anyone to play the characters, and hot joining and swapping is possible.

  • @tanit nice, last two questions.

    1. how many characters should i create for the first game? I remember the game was hard and i've tried to create a warrior letting him go outside Easthaven alone and the second goblin one-shotted him(i killed only one). I'm going to play only with my brother so will two characters be enough? If not, are we able to control 3 and 3?

    2. Is it normal that when my brother clicks "done" when choosing the "New game" option the game crashes? Never had problems with it

  • @Margalus89 I would recommend 6 - there is a level cap in icewind dale, and once you hit it a smaller party will become increasingly weak in relation to enemies. You can control 3 and 3, or any combination, yes.

    2. No - he should reinstall/patch his game.

  • @tanit ok thanks a lot mate, we should start tomorrow :)

  • hroathgar from beowulf!

  • no offense but his name is aeneas? Which sounds like anus?

  • Love these old crpgs.

  • Beat this game on insane with 4 people.

The boss fight is crazy, i had to cheese the hell out of it to win.

  • one of the best games

  • the charackter is srs Bsns

  • a bard and a thief? hmmmm. . .

  • how the hell did you do a 1 hour film

  • @Minato2312 I have a director's account.

  • @tanit thank you for answering my question

  • @tanit That doesn't matter any more. :P I can upload unlimited videos. as long as it's under 2GB though.

  • @Minato2312 part 2 is 2 hours long :)

  • is there co op

  • @lumpyfishful Yes, up to 6 players

  • Guys does anyone have a saved game for chapter 3 just before the larrel guy? I fucked up by killing him and his assistant by accident and can't reload cos was only using quicksaves and lost the autosave as well :(

I've been searching all day and haven't found another workaround. I don;t wanna have to start the game all over again, that would be too hard of a pill to swallow.

If so please reply and I will return by giving you good karma which will grant you many lays with hot partners.

  • @dwaynedibbly I do not have a save BUT you can export all of your characters and re-import them, you will have all the same gear and everything. Meaning you can quickly run through the game back to where you left off, because all of the monsters will be outmatched by you. Just go to the character screen and export all the characters, then import them when you start a new game.

  • @tanit true i thought of that but thing is the xp curve would be wonky then by the time i get back to level 3 as id prob be outmatched for the opponents having leveled up yet again by the time i got back to where I screwed up.

  • @dwaynedibbly Nope, the enemies don't scale, they will all be the same strength.

  • @CaptainHammerify Baldur's Gate is more story oriented, you only make the main character and recruit others along the way as the story progresses. Icewind Dale is more like an old school pen and paper adventure, whole lotta combat.

  • this is probably the best games ever,i have done it from the beginning to the end for like 3-4 times

  • This was such an awesome game. I must have beat it at least five or six times. I still get creeped out at the museum level near the ending. Something about that place was odd...

  • A six MAN team?

    ALL men?

    Man, your boring.

Thank you very much for the walkthrough though.

  • Audio lizzzzzzzagg

  • arent those character images from heroes 3?

  • @caxco93 Heroes 3?

  • You seem to like names related to Greek mythology =)

  • @snakedeyedfreak What can I say? I have a degree in history, specialized in ancient stuff.

  • cool greek mythology is very interesting

  • any idea where i can buy an icewind dale game or the compilation?

  • @diablo254 "Icewind Dale: The Ultimate Collection" On Amazon

  • k thx

  • I've been looking into Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate and I'm stumped as to which collection I would rather get. I'd likely get them both eventually, but which should I start off with? I know it's a matter of opinion really, but it'd be nice to hear yours. :)

  • @dementist58888 They are different types of games. Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 are more heavily dialogue and story driven - the Icewind Dale games are hack and slash versions of classical D&D gaming. I'd recommend starting off with the Baldur's Gate games. I also recommend you use the BGTUTU mod, which converts the BG1 campaign to use the BG2 engine, greatly enhancing graphics and usability. Happy hunting.

  • Thank you very much!

  • well id say icewind dale is easier.... i finished it when i was like 10 years old :P baldurs'gate is even giving me some problems now :P

  • @Tadej37

If Baldur's Gate is giving you trouble, just wait until you play Shadows of Amn.

  • baldur's gate first...... cause i played it first and it's mad awesome...... and since it was released earlier

  • I can't get the widescreen mode to work, I get an error :(

  • How does this work with Wide Screen? Does the game support it, or I need a patch of some sort?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Check out the link in the info box, there is a widescreen mod, but no native widescreen support.

  • questions.....have u played bg1?

im stuck on a quest :(

  • Google "Mike's rpg center" - it has walkthroughs of all the BG1 quests.

  • Very nice video :)

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it, even with the sound being out of sync ^_^

  • any plan to do the same with the Icewinde Dale II ?

  • I don't know.. it's really annoying to record these games, so much so that I don't even want to play them while recording. If this vid had thousands of views I probably would. But probably not worth the labor.
