  • RIP Jerry Dunphy:(

  • ha! now KCBS-TV & KCAL-TV r now sister affiliates. :D since 2002, due to a massive debt from Young Broadcasting. the company decided to sell it, which CBS decided to buy KCAL.

  • R.I.P. jerry dunphy...thanks for fighting in ww2 for our freedom...God bless...pat harvey still looks the same.:)

  • I miss him so much, GOD BLESS :(

  • The only types of shows I watched that channel 9 ran were game shows.

  • What ever happened to Wendy Gordon?

  • Anything with Carl Bell by chance?

  • @DiecastOasis Carl Bell work for KNBC 4 every weekend.

  • I remember Jane Velez-Mitchell of Headline News worked here in LA back in the 1990's

  • What year did KTVU's Dave Clark arrive on KCAL9 and on CBS2.

  • Dave Clark came to KCAL9 in the early 90's. Could have been 93, for a time he was also at KNBC.

  • Wow KNBC has had SF people like Wendy Tokuda, Colleen Williams there and Dave Clark.

  • & angles

  • Kool camera shots.

  • KCAL was revolutionary when it came to local news, although KTTV briefly had an 8pm newscast and its predecessor KHJ had LA's only 9 O'Clock News during the 80s. KCBS and KABC also aired news at 6:30p during the 80's, while Hal and the Channel 5 crew held it down at 10 for years. This format still lives on, though LA no longer has a 6:30 newscast.

  • Have any of the KHJ-tv Newscrew stayed on channel 9 when its ownership went to Disney and was renamed KCAL9.

  • Pat Harvey, Sylvia Lopez, Michelle Gile, David Goldstein.

  • I also noticed that David Jackson was another KHJ reporter who was promoted as the anchor of KCAL9 once Jane Velez-Mitchell came in. By the way David Jackson was once a reporter on KPIX in SF in 1982.

  • I'm no SoCal, but this is when KCAL-TV dropped the "California 9" moniker?

  • KCAL hasn't dropped the California 9 signature at least on their news music.

  • They stopped using the "California9" slogan in 1995 and had started to call themselves to this day as "K-CAL9", but still used the "9" logotype since 1989.
