  • I agree,,,yoyo is great,,,!

  • SLOW DOWN!!!

  • PRO!!!

  • jajaja suena desafinado de movida y tiene menos onda que pelo de ponja ! esa musica no se toca con bajo electrico maestro !

    saludos

  • Jeff...bravo!!!!

  • the master of bass at work.bravo

  • This is beautiful music and an amazing and musical performance. Anyone that knows anything about JS would realize that he'd (Bach) be delighted to hear his music performed on an instrument that was not originally written for (and certainy at this level of virtuosity)

Great music is great music FULL STOP. I love Yoyo Ma and have his complete 'cello recordings of these works but i also really enjoyed ( and would buy) recordings of this guy. Brilliant!! Many thanks

  • i personally like this piece slow but its neat to hear it played faster than the average

  • he is a good player but it sounds like mosquito

  • bravissimo! u re fuckin amazing

  • you like the bassist from iron maiden. great job dude, if you want to get rid of that beast let me kno

  • great stuff - i watch vids like this and i either feel inspired as a musician or go and cry in a corner cause I'll know I'll never be this good

  • practice makes perfect brother, play every fucking day as long as you can if you want to be this good or better

  • If you don't me asking what brand of bass is that or did you get it custom made?

  • cut yah hair

  • You are my hero!

  • Oooooooo cool!

  • good playing, disgusting mop.

  • damm thats kick ass

  • That neck is huge.

  • I don't give a damn what anyone says,this is great!!.

  • I am sure that Bach would consider this a great interpretation. I have heard lots of Bach and this is one of teh best I have heard. years ago nobody would dream of playing Bach with bass. now some "inteligent" people consider they can critic. sorry I do not agree. This piece has been played great as everything i have heard from jeff coralini. thanks!

  • @vikingbass17

Critique is mostly a personal opinion,

and can be quite helpful i don't see why someone should not express that.

I also didn't liked it, just not my cup of tea. And you should really think twice before you insult people.

  • @Xar0mir Sorry I my words have sound as an insult. It was not my intention. In fact, I agree that any critic is good. I was referring to megagnathos sayin "I don't want to say insults"... In my limited logic, this means: I am doing exactly that. Anyhow, this is not a linguistic discussion isn't it? it is a discussion about music. and I agree, with music, all is about personal oppinions. Again, sorry for sounding insulting.

  • I think the style you put to it sort of takes away... I don't want to say insults, but takes away what bach orginally wrote. Otherwise as like a modern interpertation sort of thing, yes it's very good.

  • Nothing is wrong with the speed, and it's played really well, technicall. This just lacks musicality. Like try shaping the lines, go up in volume as you get higher in pitch, that's a good trick to use in some parts. Then some parts you can build towards the key centers and cadences, especially when they go back to the original tonic key. In the second section with the eighth notes, you can chill out on those a bit, just be very gentle with them. Just try some musical ideas on different sections.

  • that is a beautiful bass!!!

  • suena

     hermoso che!

  • eres un genio

    gracias

  • ¡qué arte!

    vaya técnica que tienes

  • nice as hell bass

  • Bass is a great instrument and this guy is an excellent player, but piano/organ pieces just don't sound right on any other instrument.

  • I don't know chris broderick does a good mozart on guitar I think its pretty good.

  • Comment removed

  • I know that, I was talking to the guy who said piano pieces don't sound good on other instruments.

  • @nlangham09 You may have a point there. It's also FAR too hard to play for the result.

  • @nlangham09 This is the second movement of Bach's first CELLO suite.

  • @jkujawski16 Ahh. Well now I know.

  • @nlangham09 It's originally for cello you dumbass

  • @nlangham09

dude , what does CELLO have to do with piano and organ . . .

  • YOU don't sound right on any other instrument!!

  • YOU don't sound right on any other instrument!!

  • I'm gonna have to go with Rieske2000 on this one, by playing so fast you lose a lot of the nuances in JS Bach's composition. Silence is just as important as sound in a carefully composed composition. I see nothing wrong with covering music the way you see fit, but it sounds silly to squeeze it out like a monospace font.

  • Awesome! two thumbs up! :)

  • you sir are musically ignorant and should thus stay away from videos like this and go back and listen to your repetitive hardcore bands

  • sssh

  • (i was just joking) 'sir'

stop now before you get annoyed over nothing.

  • @alerxisonfire that would be gay i like playing actual bass the people that go 000000001111110000033333 on the bottom fret can't actually play bass in my mind

  • no guys guys, c'monn.

i was just playing around(: i agree, i don't play bass but i could pick one up right now and do 00000011111100000333 on bottom fret straight off, doesn't take skill..and therefore i agree axium.

all i'm trying to say is what 'nlangham09' worded perfectly :) kudos to the comment cos it's darn true.

but i agree, bass is more than just playing shit bottom fret monotone riffs, i was just kidding :)

  • Awesome !! MAESTRO

  • get some old guy!

  • Great playing !!!All best!

  • You kill the piece mate. Way too fast ...

  • very OK

  • well played, but it's TOO FAST !! I think Bach would cry... but still well played: nice technique

  • Hermoso

    Gracias!

  • wow is that really 7 strings.

  • count them

  • I really dislike this sound, but that's well played.

  • nice man..

  • Great sound and technique thanks for sharing!!

  • Awesome!!

  • excellent

  • Wow spot on.

  • fantastic

  • Very nice, Jeff. It is apparent that you pay a lot of attention to tone and intonation.

  • What a busy piece!

    Amazing! Wonderful sound!

  • heyy i played this song on the cello for my exam!

and wierd enough i play the bass too

    nice job!

  • I Second That!

  • let me tell you something, that was amazing

  • Dude is awesome!Pure classic renaissance music on bass!Great work!

  • Baroque..

  • are the dude from iron maiden?

  • Omg your talking about steve harris he really does look like him!

  • Well,well...there is a bunch of "teachers" and "philosophers" out there i see:) Stop giving advises, and start practicing!!

  • You have a really nice touch. I think you should slow down and let the listener "taste" what you are playing. Great work though all the same. Thumbs up!!!

  • Man!!!! If you were a cellist, you'd be a monster

  • well done man i like your videos ...you are

    PRO!!!!

  • Great work! Tough piece!

  • great playing! keep up the good work!

  • why dont you use your right middle finger?

thats odd but you still play amzing either way jw?

  • Actually, a lot of players do that. The answer is pretty simple though: just look at your hand and compare the lengths of those 3. Your pointer and your ring are a lot closer than your middle and pointer.

  • There is NO sense of phrasing. Frankly speaking, it's a great piece of music but played like this is meaningless...

  • @gustovero : then how do u want him to play? standing on the guitar?

  • @izzionbass

ZOMG OMG LOLOMG I HAVE DIFFERENT OPINION SO YOU SUCK WHINE WHINE WHINE

  • @gustovero I agree. Sounds like a machine.

  • Slow down, get some clarity out of all those amazing notes and put some musicality into it.

  • what's wrong with the middle finger? great playing despite that!

  • can you help me please what are your pickups of your fretless bass i really like its sound, so sweet ,, please answer me thank u...GOD BLESS YOU

  • Is that a Jerzey Drozd?

  • Nope. It's a Barrillon Cerbere Fretless. Jerzy Drozd basses usually have ronder body shapes, somewhat Spector-ish shaped.

  • It really doesn't sound like you listened to Yo-yo Ma at all.

  • HI JLBESIS. Thanks for the reply,I DIDN'T misread your comment

you wrote to me ( YOU MAY NOT HAVE HEARD A FRETLESS TO MUCH BEFORE ) But i in deed play 4/5 fretless and upright.

And i also agree with you FEELS,LOOKS AND SOUNDS

R U S H E D . Having said that i give him MUCH credit for posting the videos TAKES time and effort to do so.

  • to JLBESIS I actually have herd of fretless, can you hear that

    that intonation is questionable?

Play a quick piece like that, that is why i suggested to practice it S L O W ! As captain garry said, Sounds like a mess

  • Yes, I can hear what you mentioned about the intonation..but you may have misread my comment. I didn't ask if you've heard of fretless...I've asked if you've actually heard it in action. A fretless note played in tune, still has a very different quality about it...And I think thats what you were referring to..That kind of 'Out of tune' quality. So in effect, I'm kind of agreeing with you. Not sure its a 'mess' as such..but certainly feels rushed. :p

  • hi jeff ! You might want to PRACTICE IT S L O W !!!!!

And listen to the interpretation by EDGAR MEYER.

Your phrasing is AWEFUL and your intonation VERY QUESTIONABLE. Your lack of TOO many strings muting Is worth over over viewing .

  • The string muting I'll agree with, but if you think the intontation is bad, then you may not have heard a fretless too much before. The tonal quality of a fretless can make the notes sound like that...they aren't necessarily out of tune! Easy to say when you're behind a keyboard though. Try playing a quick piece like that and focus on the intonation all at once! :p

  • The intonation IS off. If he can't play a quick piece and focus on the intonation at the same time why bother posting it? It is a shit piece on electric anyway, good for practice, but not for performance. It is a bowed piece. Suite III is the one for plucked string.

  • what the hell are you talking about? it's a fretless bass. that's why you get small amounts of fuzz. can't you just say, well done, that's technically really good and i like how it sounds or whatever and not put people down the entire time? god. twat.

  • Twat? It's not technically good, because he can't play it. I don't put people down all the time, arsehole, but if I am learning a pice of difficult music I don't post it for the world to see when it is not right. That's just stupid. People have a private offline world to get things right in.

  • clancy that's exactly what i'm thinking. Browsing youtube for nice unknown artists and getting cartloads of donkey dung really pissed me off. PEOPLE LEARN SOMETHING RIGHT BEFORE POSTING THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

  • your right. If you're gonna post something that was originally written by a musical genius you should at least make sure your version honors his vision.

  • Post your brilliant videos dipshit! You poser piece of shit. I cannot wait to hear your garage band bang their way through "I wanna be sedated".

I'll tell you what's wrong with the internet:

39 year old dumbasses sitting in their mother's basement , alternating between Online Dungeons and Dragons and harassing people who love their craft on youtube.

You are pathetic. Go pay a prostitute for sex so you can at least smile for one day in your miserable existence.

  • Touché!

  • what's your problem asshole? You sucks dicks.

  • Jeff vous jouez merveilleusement bien !

    5/5 !

  • Ahahahahahahaha

Looks like someone went WAY over the top =]

  • Admittedly yes - I did. I am just fed up with people sitting on their ass and negatively commenting on people's work. The person in question below has never uploaded a thing, but gets off on talking shit about other people's playing. It's one of the curses of the internet.

Jeffowen clearly loves what he does and works quite hard. I am certain that I couldn't even begin to wrap my hand around a 7 string bass! I would grant him a little quarter for one or two miscues!

  • hear..hear..you speak a whole lot of sense mate..D

  • Very nice! Congrats!

  • do you use 4-2-1-4-2-1??? really interesting, your finger technique

  • Hey i may be asking a foolish question but i have noticed you not using you second finger?

is there a specific reason for that or just preferance?

anyone else that can awnser this it would be much appriciated.

    thanks

  • i begin music in early age on guitar and i use all fingers of right hand but on bass i use on pizz technique the 1 and 3 and on upright acoustic bass the 1 and 2

    take care

    jeff

  • where did you get your bass and for how much

    thanks

    sam

  • waw sorprendente,

  • you are fretless master certainly!!

  • steve bailey???

  • bassando de magnifiquie! Don't know what I just said but great bass playin' non the less.

  • some mad basslines.... really nice

  • i love what you do with the "trills" on the fretless

  • yeah. i know this bach composition.. and your is little running in time... give more emotion in the time...

  • Fantastic fretless bass playin'!

  • Great technique! Have you tried playing these an octave lower? That's how I play them. I think they sound way better an octave down. Bach transcribed some of his own works down an octave so it's perfectly legal! :-)

  • fantastico!!!!!
