This is beautiful music and an amazing and musical performance. Anyone that knows anything about JS would realize that he'd (Bach) be delighted to hear his music performed on an instrument that was not originally written for (and certainy at this level of virtuosity)
Great music is great music FULL STOP. I love Yoyo Ma and have his complete 'cello recordings of these works but i also really enjoyed ( and would buy) recordings of this guy. Brilliant!! Many thanks
I am sure that Bach would consider this a great interpretation. I have heard lots of Bach and this is one of teh best I have heard. years ago nobody would dream of playing Bach with bass. now some "inteligent" people consider they can critic. sorry I do not agree. This piece has been played great as everything i have heard from jeff coralini. thanks!
@Xar0mir Sorry I my words have sound as an insult. It was not my intention. In fact, I agree that any critic is good. I was referring to megagnathos sayin "I don't want to say insults"... In my limited logic, this means: I am doing exactly that. Anyhow, this is not a linguistic discussion isn't it? it is a discussion about music. and I agree, with music, all is about personal oppinions. Again, sorry for sounding insulting.
I think the style you put to it sort of takes away... I don't want to say insults, but takes away what bach orginally wrote. Otherwise as like a modern interpertation sort of thing, yes it's very good.
Nothing is wrong with the speed, and it's played really well, technicall. This just lacks musicality. Like try shaping the lines, go up in volume as you get higher in pitch, that's a good trick to use in some parts. Then some parts you can build towards the key centers and cadences, especially when they go back to the original tonic key. In the second section with the eighth notes, you can chill out on those a bit, just be very gentle with them. Just try some musical ideas on different sections.
I'm gonna have to go with Rieske2000 on this one, by playing so fast you lose a lot of the nuances in JS Bach's composition. Silence is just as important as sound in a carefully composed composition. I see nothing wrong with covering music the way you see fit, but it sounds silly to squeeze it out like a monospace font.
@alerxisonfire that would be gay i like playing actual bass the people that go 000000001111110000033333 on the bottom fret can't actually play bass in my mind
i was just playing around(: i agree, i don't play bass but i could pick one up right now and do 00000011111100000333 on bottom fret straight off, doesn't take skill..and therefore i agree axium.
all i'm trying to say is what 'nlangham09' worded perfectly :) kudos to the comment cos it's darn true.
but i agree, bass is more than just playing shit bottom fret monotone riffs, i was just kidding :)
You have a really nice touch. I think you should slow down and let the listener "taste" what you are playing. Great work though all the same. Thumbs up!!!
Actually, a lot of players do that. The answer is pretty simple though: just look at your hand and compare the lengths of those 3. Your pointer and your ring are a lot closer than your middle and pointer.
Yes, I can hear what you mentioned about the intonation..but you may have misread my comment. I didn't ask if you've heard of fretless...I've asked if you've actually heard it in action. A fretless note played in tune, still has a very different quality about it...And I think thats what you were referring to..That kind of 'Out of tune' quality. So in effect, I'm kind of agreeing with you. Not sure its a 'mess' as such..but certainly feels rushed. :p
The string muting I'll agree with, but if you think the intontation is bad, then you may not have heard a fretless too much before. The tonal quality of a fretless can make the notes sound like that...they aren't necessarily out of tune! Easy to say when you're behind a keyboard though. Try playing a quick piece like that and focus on the intonation all at once! :p
The intonation IS off. If he can't play a quick piece and focus on the intonation at the same time why bother posting it? It is a shit piece on electric anyway, good for practice, but not for performance. It is a bowed piece. Suite III is the one for plucked string.
what the hell are you talking about? it's a fretless bass. that's why you get small amounts of fuzz. can't you just say, well done, that's technically really good and i like how it sounds or whatever and not put people down the entire time? god. twat.
Twat? It's not technically good, because he can't play it. I don't put people down all the time, arsehole, but if I am learning a pice of difficult music I don't post it for the world to see when it is not right. That's just stupid. People have a private offline world to get things right in.

Critique is mostly a personal opinion,
and can be quite helpful i don't see why someone should not express that.
I also didn't liked it, just not my cup of tea. And you should really think twice before you insult people.

that intonation is questionable?
