This makes complete sense to me, as spiders' natural habitat usually is lush rain forest, or temperate forests. Spiders like foliage, and foliage is generally green. This could be why they have that attribute, because the light reflected off of the various leaves in forests is greenish. What a brilliant design the spider eye has!
